The last 4 years is the problem, or do you think the selectors have been doing a wonderful job?

Typical crap WYL. You have moved from 12 months to 4 years and then if someone challenges you, you feebly challenge them that they think the selectors are doing a good job. Doesnt come much more dumber than that.

False pretence with no substance.

Here is a couple of times you have focussed on the past 12 months and have stated that has always been your argument.

The Ashes tickets aren't selling as well as when or are we not selling them at all. If you actually do the research this Ashes tour is not a sell out like the last tour for a variety of reasons.

....

5. This Ashes series follows 12 months of meaningless cricket which has been racked by corruption, incompetence and instransigence at the global level. Out of the global game only Aust, England, South Africa and NZ have any integrity in their national structures. India now controls 75 to 80% of the global cricket game. The game's direction has splintered at the global level. Other nations are either chronically corrupt/ incompetent or both. Cricket Australia has floundered in some areas but the problems are often bigger than Australia.

Point 5 has always been my arguement, thanks for finally realizing that.

But a lot of this work should have been done last summer against Pakistan, it wasn't because certain players were not retired, Hard decisions were not taken. So now those same decisions are even tougher-Shocking planning and foresight. If this happened in a football club it would be laughable. But because of the ACB and Indian contracts players are to highly paid, and thus understandably won't step down. i know you disagree, but then i disagree with many of your points as well.

The last 12 months Australian cricket has gone backwards or at best struggled to tread water and a lot of that i put towards selection policies.

So you have been asked to put up an 11 you would have selected by 45?

I have asked what selections you would have made to change things. I have asked you to advise that for 12 months.

You have welched everytime.

Its hard to fault your arguments WYL. You dont hold a sound or supportable position on anything. Whether its debt or cricket you know little of either.

Gee Thanks Rhino, i will sleep so much better knowing that you approve!!!! B)

Don't question my knowledge on debt sunshine......

Edited by why you little

Ryan Harris is currently the best bowler in the country. :(

Kinda sums it up doesn't it....The whole Aussie Team is just Torn & Frayed right now....

Don't question my knowledge on debt sunshine......

I am not questioning it in the least. There is no doubt in my mind or others how little you know about it and how much you naively think you do know. Its embarrassingly obvious. You did well to dispel any uncertainty there.

Now do you have that 11 requested or the selections?

5/1000+ over the last two innings.

Sadly, what can we do? Drop Doherty after two matches? That's hardly productive. We need to show the spinner we pick some faith. So he should stay.

Drop a paceman or two? Siddle's wicketless since Day 1 of Brisbane. Bollinger is leaking just as many runs as Johnson did, and his only wicket was a major blunder from Strauss. Harris is the best and holds his spot but really, we could change the bowling as much as we want, there's no one in the counry who is any more capable than the bowlers we've got in the side.

Long term we'll be looking at Mitch Starc and Trent Copeland from NSW but they're for the Ashes 2013, not the Ashes 2010/11.

Doherty has 2/268 from his first two tests. 0/227 from his last 2 innings. That's hardly productive. He leaked 5 runs per over in Adelaide. While its hard to come on the back of your quicks who dont take wickets, he just doesnt have the variation atm to trouble batsman at this level. He must go. I would even plumb for Steve Smith at this point. I mean what have we got to lose!!

Although we are 1-0 down, the difference is about 4-0 the way we are playing.

Only Hussey, Haddin and Watson are performing. Harris has been the best of our bowlers. But all our quicks are honest 1st changes with no one leading the attack (Johnson's loss of form is hurting us very badly). We need to get Ponting and Clarke right. Haddin is apparently limping. Hughes to come in.

Adelaide has been a disaster on the back of the finish of Brisbane. Its like the Ashes of 1989 except the shoe is on the other foot this time.

Unless North hits a face saving innings, he is out. And I would think Bollinger might get dropped. He has not kicked on since last year and bowled really poorly in Adelaide

Out: Katich (inj), Doherty/ North, Bollinger

In: Hughes, Khawaja/ White, McKay/Cameron

I thought Australia had an outstanding last session today

A couple more sessions like that and I can see a draw looming

Huh? 1-0 down. Could have fooled me.

Done. Barring weather delays we are odds on to be 1-0 down.

I can't remember a series where we appear to be so utterly outclassed. The Windies used to kill us in the 80's and early nineties, but at least we could get a few of them out. This is Shocking!!!

Everything's going wrong!!!!

Katich, Ponting and Harris.....3 balls between them on a batting paradise!!!

The Katich run out started it all. Trott's throw from side-on was a 1 in 5 chance at best. That led to Ponting's dismissal, which put the out of form Clarke in a dreadful position.

The English are getting more and more confident. They now have four batsmen in best-ever form. All they need now is Swann to take a bag....an d that's looking SO likely.

This is torture.

I was so looking forward to the Melb Test....but probably the Ashes will be gone by then. Perhaps we'll be hoping to stop the 5 nil whitewash. The weather's our best hope.

Done. Barring weather delays we are odds on to be 1-0 down.

After 3 days of the Gabba test the bookies had us at odds on to win

You should know better with cricket Rhino, its never over till the fat lady puts in an appearance

MON Showers. Afternoon Clouds. Warm. Humid. 7 km/h E 5mm (61%) 75% 20 29

TUE Heavy Rain. Mostly Cloudy. Warm. 12 km/h SSW 13mm (99%) 84% 20 29

WED Showers Early. Mostly Sunny. Mild. 11 km/h W 2mm (35%) 87% 16 25

And Punter could always make a double ton

Having said all that the aussies are shizzenhausen

The Test finishes on Day 5 - Tuesday.

It's even worse than that... 2 balls between them!

You should definitely ask the fat lady for a rain dance then. B)

Its definitely not looking good at all for the Aussies, Punter double ton or not.

you're only stating the bleeding obvious rhino

I'm not asking for a rain dance, so far they deserve to lose

just remember there are many twists to a test match - weather included, don't be so sure of yourself

you can claim 1-0 only if and when it happens, thats cricket

Can't understand why the soaps wasted 9 overs this morning

Their only problem is time, weather permitting

Clarke out in the last over of the day!

Crushing blow for the Aussies.

Wtf...Clarke was well set on 80, and Pietersen gets him in the last over of the day. Therein lies the difference between us: even when we reach 50 we are still prone to go out. They're not. Too many 50s. Watson has 2. Needs to learn to convert.

Rain required tomorrow or it'll be a loss. Big day for North. Possibly his last.

Ponting won't get far past the Ashes. This might be it.

Ponting needs a rest. He is exhausted, you can see it. Trying to hard, and getting desperate.

But as a major selector he has bought a lot of it on himself sadly.

True.

If only you were selector he could have brought in...umm...yeah...

Ponting has taken on too much on his own shoulders for too long. Now it is starting to show.

Time for Ricky to move down the order, & maybe it's time to see whether the anointed "Golden Boy" can actually captain the test side.

How in the world do you figure that this would be a good time for Clarke to take over the captaincy?

How's last summer's 11 coming along?

The series is lost, there is no point waiting, there has been far too much of that already.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
