Jared Rivers - it's a hip!

According to the Herald Sun today, Rivers missed because of a "hip".

I just wish the club was a bit more forthcoming to supporters about injuries to players. I'm not talking about these last minute things but it took a long time for us to be informed as to why our best defender missed out. As for Juice Newton and his injury ... pffft!

The lack of feedback is bloody frustrating...I'm not convinced that this "toadstool" treatment fools opposition clubs but it certainly give club supporters the tom-[censored].

My great hope is that it is not a "groin-related hip".

Groin related hip flexor abductor hyper-extension pubis.

Yep. It's a lot quicker and easier to spell "hip" rather than non-specific osteitis of the pubis.

:o

You better be making that up!!!

Yes, I was being facetious in my diagnosis.

Without Rivers, we are lost even when up and running. To lose him now would be disaster. Ofcourse we need to play youngsters, but he is a young defender as it is! For a guy who's 23 he has been injured an awful lot :(

Get well soon!

I spoke to Sean Wellman at the aftermatch function, and he said it was a knock on the hip, and he'd be out 'for a couple', and also that Carroll had a bit

of a hamstring niggle and would miss next week most likely too...

I wonder if what he says about Carroll is true. I was feeling that maybe dropping him was in some way related to his discipline/off-field behaviour. Hopefully he is just injured though, because I was wondering why PJ got the nod over Carroll to replace Rivers

Nice try.

The abductor is actually an adductor.

No, he's right. There are both abductors and adductors in the groin area. Each has a different function.

Thanks. No wonder its creates problems! B)

So is OP mainly focussed on the adductor muscle or both?

Just a question but with all the attention on rivers and our backline doesnt anyone think about wheels?? personally i think we are doomed with out his speed and pressure idown there sure rivers is probably the best in our club at reading the play and spoiling an dis a nice kick lol but he needs others around him to compliment him.. wheels, weats and rivers get back in the teamm no wonder carrol isnt playing well he is playing with a bunch of peole he doesnt know.

I believe both are susceptible but our game seems to bring out the worst in adductors.

If Carroll and Rivers are both not available next week we should go with Stef Martin. We don't have anything to lose.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
