  1. Should be 4 goals 1 not 2 3
  2. Me too. I still have disturbing flashbacks at times, not unlike the opening scenes from Apocalypse Now!
  3. He grabbed his quad immediately as he kicked the ball and then limped slowly off, that indicates more than a strain to my amateur eyes, more like a tear. Maybe someone who has experienced similar could give an opinion.
  4. Don’t know enough about these things, didn’t look good but maybe they can remediate these strains in three days?
  5. Noticed that Hibberd pulled up sharply after kicking the ball late in training. Seemed to be a quad strain to me, walked/limped off immediately. Re Guthrie above - When they split out the seconds players I noticed both Tyson and J Smith were involved in a 3/4 ground ball movement drill with the ones then Tyson was involved in a mid group drill.
  6. Can we talk about a real muscle car!
  7. Given the dimensions of Geelong’s ground, longish and skinny, maybe it is more grunt in the middle that is needed, rather than leg speed, so maybe it’s Tyson and he played well today.
  8. And you played at AFL level intensity in front of 30,000 people as well am I to suppose?
  9. Pathetic. Want to enlighten us on your illustrious football endeavours? I am sure you never shirked a contested ball in your career. In other words this is just a cheap shot on someone you don’t know.
  10. That is Frost.
  11. Big Max and 15 minutes in the 3rd quarter of absolute centre square dominance, taps straight onto the chests of Clarrie and Angus running in the clear for direct entries into our forward 50 and 3 goals in 5 or 6 minutes then two more after that from similar centre breaks. That 15 minutes broke the game open for us, very 1998 Jeff White to Todd Viney super play I thought.
  12. Me too. I hate listening on the radio because it seems to take us 10 to 15 possessions to get it into our forward pocket, then they call a turnover, the opposition does one handball to a running player who passes it to the leading forward and they announce that he is lining up 25 m from goal on a slight angle!
  13. Yes I am assuming TMac at full forward, Fritsch to the wing. With so many smallish half forwards selected I expect some to play on ball or on the wing. I would give Jeffy, JKH and Melksham time in the midfield and Salem playing back more. Is there a worthwhile tagging role for Vince?
  14. No. At best the players in yellow tops corral MFC play makers, the emphasis is on positive ball movement usually. I have sometimes queried if we should do some drills with increased intensity in a more confined space, at least in the preseason but don’t think I have witnessed such drills.
  15. Are these finds from Mawson’s Hut?
  16. Gee I didn’t know that one! When I played you shepherded but it probably always was when your mate had the ball, never thought it would be a free if he didn’t.
  17. Not sure why he pulled out, only he knows but it wasn’t for personal protection as far as I can see. Very little personal danger in putting your arm out to shepherd as I vaguely remember. He has played a lot of footy, and knows a bit about the game perhaps he chose to stay on the outside for the receive? We have been complaining about our lack of outside receivers haven’t we?
  18. 6 Oliver 5 Gawn 4 Brayshaw 3 Salem 2 Petracca 1 Viney
  19. Leaking goals late yet again.
  20. Should be 4 goals up. A worry!
  21. Matthew Lloyd’s analysis of us in the Hun today is pretty spot on, says our midfield is loaded with talented ball hunters who all go in leaving the opposition on the outside. If we don’t dominate inside possessions we get smashed on the outside and from there the backline struggles. He points the finger at Goodwin’s strategy of emphasis on the contested ball to the detriment of outside run and delivery; says we need to get back to some basics with Hogan and TMac staying forward all game and giving Frost a few games to see if he is the answer down back until we get Lever back.
  22. Great report Ron but who is doing the writing you or Gerry?
  23. Yes the no problematic player policy has come at some cost and it is not just us by the way, a lot of clubs have been gun shy of problem players but we had the draft picks that count and went past Hurley, Dusty, Darling and Curnow for behavioural questions. Oh well thank god we are conservative and let’s hope the Weid fires up.
