As I type this it's only 8 days until the Dees run out again. Yes it may only be the NAB Cup, but to quote the late Big Kev, 'I'M EXCITED!" I don't mind a bit of cricket, but lately I've resorted to switching on the NFL as a poor substitute for AFL. It's always a huge relief to get some footy. She-who-must-be-obeyed-except-when-the-footy-is-on has been advised of the impending change in my behaviour and viewing habits. I wanna see some of the new guys having a run, but most of all I just want to watch Melbourne play some football!! GO DEES

I must confess thinking along similar lines as I read this thread - I wonder if in the absence of any real footy we are over emphasising the importance of the leadership group. Reading all the profiles of the new recruits many seemed to have a reference to good leadership potential and given their elite status probably were leaders at their old clubs from underage teams and up. Working in a profession (military) where leadership is valued and regularly evaluated for each person I would expect every player to be a leader either by example, deed, team work or voice. By the same token there is only one Captain.

I found the tone of the article anoying if not a bit offensive. Is there any proof selecting young guys in the leadership group is a better formula? Ffs Melbourne would have gone though the process and you have to hope they know better than the author? I guess it's easier to write negative tripe.

Ha ha ha Just recieved a resend now from the "MELBOURNE fc" reckon somone got a smack over the head.

I just recieved a reminder SMS to buy my membership prior to end Dec ... But the strange this was it says it comes from StKildaFC!!! I can only presume they all use a company to send these out. I just hope they dont mix up the databases.

Call me a sook, but I always feel really sorry for those that missed out. Probably because I have been through something similar though less important with my daughter missing a cut to make a squad.

I used to run a count down html scrip on a webpage I managed to show the start of the (club netball) season - be good if we could imbed one on the start up page! I just found a free one that lets you put finish time and date in and it produces the script.

Based on who we managed to get onto the park this season that would be a rasonable call - of course with most of the injuries sorted and the changes in the list it seems unreasonable. It should be like getting a 3/4 new team out there. Betting is a mugs game!!

That was my reaction as well. Isn't that the whole point of the Rookie List? Pick up guys who could be players but where the clubs are just not convinced enough to put them on a list.
