  1. I agree with most of the posts above, there is of course some excitement/hope. However I think the NAB cup has dulled my expectations significantly. I think we will improve as the year progresses, all I ask for is no more 100 point losses - not one this year! I think all we need is a spark that two wins in a row to get the ball rolling , get some momentum and belief in the group - if we can go on to do that we will improve immensely, the players will actually go into games knowing they can win. Its when this spark occurs (2 wins in a row) that will decide how well we do this year! It could take till round 22 for the team to gel together and play as a team with desire.
  2. Yer i am worried and the Gold Coast post game presser was ....... not impressive! Neeld thought our game against the suns was good?? What happened to him I thought he was a no bullsh** guy? http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2013-03-18/mark-neeld-post-match-week-4
  3. Look had to be the one to break up the optimism in this thread but can't we lay off Hogan for a bit, his 18 years old. Have we not learnt anything from the Watts saga, just let him prove himself before you build up expectations for everybody else. I know the post may have been said jokingly but I just don't wont to have a 100 page thread in 12 months time dedicated to why Hogan is not dominating.
  4. I think our game plan should be - take the best option. These are AFL players they should be able to make decisions on what option is best whether that be in the middle or along the boundary (this would depend on the current circumstancess - eg numbers, quality of players and their skills etc). I would personally like to see us take some risks with the footy, the style of footy at the start of last year was almost so boring that I would rather watch another team play! I think you have to take risks in order to win.
  5. He was running laps at training on Wednesay but I dont think he joined the main group. looked in good shape.
  6. What do you mean we won the first quarter and then were dominating them during the first 10 mins of the 2nd! Just another fade out.
  7. Yer true I just want to be thrashing one of the only sides that has less experience than us
  8. I believe it is 15 - 7 But yer not a great start!
  9. Hogan just kick 20 Goals in opening 2 min. We have won.... you can now go do something else now worthwhile!
  10. Frawley has been withdrawn due to illness according to MFC twitter
  11. Last chance to show what we got before round 1. I think we will be very keen to get some momentum going into the season. I see a big win coming, I don't think we will make the same mistake as last week and let them into the game (2nd quater v the saints). Im predicting (hoping for) a 55-60 point win and I don't think we should expect any less!
  12. If anything it has shown how quickly teams can change/develop (Brisbane)
  13. It is frustrating to see Moloney playing well (looks like he has slimmed down, as for Martin he seems to ball watch every contest and then just stand there. I only watched a little bit of the game because I just couldn't physically watch the 30 free kicks a quater (people don't go to the footy to watch the umpires!)
  14. Agree with most of the comments on the players but can't see why these 9 specific players have to improve. If we want to really improve we have to have improvement from a lot more than just the players mentioned! I think if we really want to build a good team we need to expect results from the core group of players and then expect a number of fringe (under the radar players) to become really good. Players which I want to see improvement from are the Jetta, Strauss, Taggert and Tapscott types. (Surely their is the potential for at least one star amongst those names).
  15. I love Clark but am just worried about where he is at, what’s his fitness base like? I mean he has been out for like 3/4 of a year! Can he just come back and challenge players who have 9 months on him? I am not sure what kind of fitness he has been doing since the gravity treadmill but I just hope it's been sufficient. On a brighter note he was moving really well at training and kicking for goal looked good.
  16. Keep on dreaming! Sadly Collingwood will be on the bottom of the ladder by then due to a poor culture (too much success) and we will most likely by versing GWS and the margin will probably by like 20 goals!! (10 of those from Clarke, the other 10 from Hogan)
  17. did you mean in front of gilles....? because are'nt defenders supposed to be goal side? Anyway... Hogan fans should probably not look at either pic #18 or #32, otherwise we will have a thread dedicated to how huge he is and how skinny Watts is!
  18. Don't worry, I was at training and Blease ran a few laps at a decent pace and then did some straight line sprinting so can't be that bad. According to Misson he has been keeping up his fitness on the bike and in the pool. Has hardly missed any of the preseason so I would be very suprised if he is not ready come round one.
  19. Gawn eyes comeback match
  20. I went down to training and made a few notes: In order: Gawn started with a kick to kick drill with one of the coaches only the ball would drop short and he would have to predict the bounce etc. Dawes and Blease ran medium pace laps. Nicholson, Frawley, Davis, Couch and Joel Mac were doing a kick and leading to space drill (probably to improve kicking). Kent is huge and was running with the Kiwi (I took a photo of him). Bail was doing some kind of physical test where he then had to fill out a form. Main group did a drill where they had to dodge a tackler. Dawes and Blease then did run-throughs/testing. There were loads of coaching staff on the boundary (a few were drinks people I think). Trengove and Clark were moving and kicking very well (agree with the speed of Trengove through the middle of ground). Strauss actually was very quick running out of defence (at one stage the coaches were all really happy with him because he stuck on Davey and did not let him get the ball). Tappy was really lively and tackling everyone in the forward line and creating goals. Jetta seemed to have a physical examination in the tent and then left early. Viney was in match simulation and then did his physical test with Kent and Blease (Viney was also kicking with the Kiwi and although his kicking style looked silly it was effective over 30m). Viney then had 3-4 shots on goal from 40-50m out that all fell short? The main group did a kind of match sim but it was all really up to Neeld what happened (eg take the kick 70m from the whites goal) Hughesy (radio/comedian) came to the training session and crouched in the goal square with a helmet and let all the players have a shot at him (with ball) and not one player hit him (from 30m) All in all, I thought the speed and skills were good although I have never been to a training session so hard to make comments.
  21. I get where your coming from but I really think that it is too hard to draw the line and the rule is made with the player at interest. I think if a player is bumped heavily on the head but is only bleeding a little, is he in a state to make a decision on whether to keep playing? With all this debate about brain damage etc I just can't see it happening.
