  1. Crameri has been their leading goal kicker the past thee seasons so him leaving hurts them. Sucked in Bombers.
  2. Gain Goddard on 700k + for four years only to force Crameri out the next. I think it's working fine, clubs can't afford to keep everyone. Pies will loose one of Daisy or Shaw, the good news for everyone else is they would rather keep Daisy but Shaw is still contracted for two years. Either do what Geelong has done or loose players. I suppose Cloke would still be laughing.
  3. Not fussed if he goes , chronic under achiever. Coaches and lack of midfield support aren't to blame, his attitude is. Yes I'm prepared for him to go and when he has a game and kicks three(against weak opposition) I won't curse the club for not trying harder to keep him. If he goes on top of Davey we should have an unmatchable offer for Adams.
  4. If Shaw stays it should help us, as mentioned before offer him big coin. Pies and tigers can't have to much money to play with.
  5. From what you've seen would say Kelky is inside/outside or both. Cheers mate.
  6. Thanks mate, Interesting couple of weeks coming up then.
  7. My mate in Melbourne sent me a text last night saying Clarkson will coach the Eagles next year. Is there any substance to this or just more trade rumour crap? If he does do a Ross Lyon this could rule out Adam Simpson.
  8. To be honest I've never seen Aish or Kelly or any of them play. I'm only going on what I've read and heard, and how reliable is that...who knows. Have a good mate who coaches under 16's for a TAC side and says he goes alright. Under 16's is not 18's but all the coaches talk and watch lots of games of differant age groups. As we know early picks can go either way. There was a mindset that kids that are from WA or SA are more developed because they have already played against men, that hasn't always been the case. I hope we can land a player during trade week. Who ever we take I won't be rushing into an early judgement like the Wines/Toumpas debate that has raged on here.
  9. If we do keep it Kelly is my choice.
  10. I think most of the team needs to improve. Too many times were tackles laid but players still able to dispose of the back. This may be due to the lack of interest players showed in general.
  11. Yeah he did. He took that great mark in defence, I think it was against the dogs. The comparison to Goodes is a fair one based on Jacks potential. Goodes for mine has never been a big pack mark wherever he has played. But he has been a silky skilled player. Jumbo we would all love him to go harder at the contest but for me it's a little but like the Toumpas/Wines discussion many have had . Let's play him to his strengths, he could become a very damaging wingman. If he occasionally drops forward to take a grab and kicks a few than that's a bonus.
  12. He doesn't have to every time to be effective. Yes it would bloody help but I don't think he's got it in him. His skills are sublime, Watts on one wing Toumpas on the other. There's no point wasting more time trying to make him something he's not. Put the hard nuts in the square- Jones, Viney etc. Crashing packs is one thing but all players must learn to make effective tackles.
  13. I don't think the coaches have been the problem when it comes to his appetite for the contest. I think it's one of the few things that a player has it or he doesn't. Hogan in the pre season was letting his presence be known. To me that's why Jack might be playing off the wing next year, kick it to him on space and let him deliver into the forwards. He needs to learn how to make tackles stick, but so does most of the side.
  14. Good point mate, continuity. Play him on the wing as many here have mentioned before. This should allow him to free himself up at times and could become a difficult match up.
  15. Another way to look at this mate is - paying the full cap is paying 100% the least clubs are allowed to pay is 92.5%( unless it's changed). If clubs like ours which are down the bottom are paying 100% it means some players are getting far more than they are worth. If we are currently paying 92.5% it means we have room to move at the end of 2014 to make a play for someone. Not being able to pay the whole salary cap should affect us to much until we become more competitive and start pushing to play finals. Clubs have the option of paying young players who are possible future stars more than they are worth in their first couple of years , then when they are 22-23 the club can pay them less and it should even out nicely. This is done to avoid players being squeezed out when they playing finals. Richmond paid Martin overs in his first three years, then offered him a contract rumoured to be around 500k, he wanted more as it seems he conveniently forgot about his initial over payments. Whether he is worth 500 is debatable. I thought I read Jack T , Jack G and Watts were all paid overs in their initial contracts because we were meant to be the next Geelong about now. In recent years clubs have tended to follow one of two models with regards to the salary cap. Hawks/Pies have a marquee player who makes the most. In this case it's Buddy and Cloke. Then 2-3 players on the next level down - a Hodge, Mitchell, Rough / Swan, Pendles, Shaw. The list goes down in levels until you reach first year players on a fixed(in most cases) amount. Geelong realised it has so many stars on its list so it told its senior players were only go to pay you 500k max, the players agreed, stuck together and the results speak for themselves. 3 flags, 1 grand final loss and a prelim loss by 1 kick.I started this post about 8 this morning but got sidetracked.
  16. Yes our midfield is possibly the worst in the AFL. As mentioned in other threads hopefully we can trade pick 2 for a ready made player, and possibly snare someone in the PSD. What I was getting at was Port has great mids, yet their forwards and backs weren't rated by many at the start of the year. Freo have had injury woes all year. Both clubs just went about it every week. Yes I agree mate the whole system should now be scrapped. As much as we all bag the AFL at times it does keep clubs heads above water financially. Clubs like ours have to learn to get it right. With PJ and Roos on board we are hopefully on the right track.
  17. If I had my way Jordie would see out his contract in the two's.
  18. C'mon Stuie, your better than that. The list of names you provided are the ones thrown up for the case for. The list provided by Dr Gonzo supported the case against. This club needs to harden up. Port and Freo have shown this year what is possible with the right mindset.
  19. There is a difference between a team devoid of any talent and a team of lazy, weak, soft footballers. Many of which are yet to reach their potential. Talk of player mismanagement is crap and a copout, if there has been any mismanagement it has been most of out draft selections of recent years. Viney and Terlich seemed to have a crack this year. We need our players to harden up, our club seems to be undergoing this process so that leaves us.....the supporters.
  20. I'm in the camp of not getting a pick this year. After 2014 if we are still as bad then yes give us a pick. I'm aware of all the arguments to why we should get one but I'm also aware that people believe Watts is still suffering mentally from his QB debut. Some people seem to think that by Roos accepting the coaching job that we suddenly have the best culture of any club in the AFL. Yes receiving a pick would help in a small way but it's not the saviour some think it will be. Even with Roos coaching picking up gun players with out picks is not guaranteed. The players on our list need to harden up and cut the crap looking for excuses all the time. Other teams have shown what is possible this year, Port's sudden rise and Freo have had in jury's to key players all year. Pick or no pick, on Saturday night Freo raised the bar. If clubs don't come to play with a similar mindset they are wasting their time. Something we have been doing for years.
  21. How did he ever become chief football writer? His insight to the game offers nothing that I can't see for myself.
  22. I'm with you mate, I think they're quite funny. On the other hand the footy show has been deteriorating for the last couple of years. I also love their call of the game.
  23. To hard to guess so ill sit and wait. Both this weeks games will be crackers, so I'll be entertained plus I get to laugh at the Bombers....again.
  24. As Dees2014 has ready mentioned, all clubs/players including NRL were told come clean at the start of the year and cop six months or play your games of upstairs-downstairs, still get caught and cop the fist.
