I would argue some of the contested marks early in his career were great, what happened?

Well if we're looking for 5 good games in a row as opposed to a run of good form over a 5 week period the banner won't change.

Well it comes down to a few things. If you consider them all to be best 22, then they all must lift. We've been carrying passengers for years. We can't have depth until we have a best 22, and at this stage I think that is still undecided. A lot of people keep referring to Jetta as a player who came good. Let's keep that in perspective, he plays back pocket, yes he plays his role with great efficiency but his role is concentrated around shutting down his immediate opponent, not setting up play coming out of defence. His role at times requires him to be more reactive then proactive, I say that because yes he thinks and puts himself in the right spots by reading the play but at times all small defenders can do is follow their man around. Players like Betts, Wingard, Rioli and Stevie J are so hard for defenders to play against because half the time they don't even know themselves what they're about to do. Jetta's disposal is serviceable for the role he plays, it's not elite nor is he kicking them out on the full. I love his aggression and attack on the ball/ball carrier. He tackles to hurt. Grimes is entering his ninth season and still struggles in a major way with two fundamental basics of the game, disposal and decision making. His defensive capabilities are sound but it's not enough, not for the position he plays and not after 8 seasons. Midfield isn't an option not even as a stopper. I think this is Grimes last year at the club possibly in the AFL. I'd be very surprised if Richmond wants him. If we have minimal injuries he'll be lucky to play a game in 2016. H takes the game on, has aggression in his game, offers some run but after nine seasons his disposal needs improvement. He also goes missing for large periods of games. He has two seasons to go on his contract then he can go too.

If our rise up the ladder hinges on players like Grimes and The Prince it is well and truly game over.

Are we only counting 11 game memberships as a minimum?

Fair call, do we know what they're doing now or what the Bulldogs are doing? Did it work against Port in that they were over-trained and burnt out? I think our culture is still weak but getting better. I think we're 12 months away from real depth on our list, but I can't put a time frame on accountability. Senior players either through lack of skill or effort set a poor example, I'm talking about Grimes, Dawes, Watts, Garland, Dunn, H, Garlett. The ones who can play turn up about 8 times a year, the ones who lead can't play the game. Great teams have the advantage that if 5-6 players are having an off day there's enough talent out there to pick up the slack. We are now in a position where the majority of our better players are 23-24 or younger. By better I don't just mean their footy skills but more so their mental application. Until their body's fill out we can't expect to make finals.

Funny? It's called being accountable. It comes down to accountability and trust.

Is player voting for the leadership group done anonymously? If it isn't it should be.

I was drinking at Northies in Cronulla (please don't judge me it's the only pub here) and was watching the game on a 40cm with no volume whilst everybody else watched the league. I was making more noise than the combined crowd of roughly 50 people watching the big screen. I was approached by an old man who asked me how long I had been following the Dees for. He introduced himself as Toms grandfather (and no I didn't ask for ID) he was staying at a friends who also lived in Cronulla. He stayed for about two beers and before he left I asked had Tom made his mind up yet. His reply was "I'm not going to say either way but I will say this, he's sick of being called into Stynes office every week and have him play the poor health card", they're putting heaps of pressure on him to hurry up and make a decision". Then went on to say it's a life changing decision and he's only a kid blah blah blah. Did Stynes push the issue to far? We will never know. Scully would of been listening to his dad, in the end he just said what people wanted to hear to get them off his back. Did we really expect him to stay?

I don't think they do, do they? Do the Hawks ever do altitude training? I like the idea of mixing it up but I get the feeling while this is great for first year players this is more directed at a handful of senior players who still don't get it. We as a team are still mentally weak and don't understand the need to come mentally switched on to play every week. The games against Carlton and Essendon said it all.
