Next week Dogs v Hawks....can't wait. and the Tigers v Crows and Freo v Eagles, hoping Richmond and Freo both lose.
-
It was refreshing to hear some commentators on Friday night attack his game. Loitering around the back of packs for the cheap handball receives. Something I noticed last year a lot in Richmond's game and Cotchin isn't alone in doing it is, dropping at the slightest hint of contact hoping to have the tackler fall into their back and the picking up of the ball then run with their head down hoping to draw contact. To the umpires credit they did start to wise up to this last year.

I agree, but this is the bit I don't get. So we rocked up not mentally switched on because we thought it was a forgone conclusion....ok....but at qtr time cop a spray from the coach yet still can't turn it around. Cant remember whether it was GWS or the Suns but in their debut season they played the Hawks. At qtr time Hawks trailed by 7 points (give or take), copped a spray from Clarko and went on to win by over 100. It's as if we haven't come to play from the start its all over until next week. We can't adjust throughout a game. -

Which players have played for months at Casey? Watts has just started to show something. How about we drop Garland and play Frost/Dunn/Tmac as the key back. They are no to be switched fwd unless injury occurs. The three talls of Hogan/Watts/Pedo stays. I'd like to see that for a few weeks.

46 point winners. Bloody amazing. Have the Hawks ever wasted money on Leading Teams? What is it going to take for our players to get it. -
I am a lifetime supporter and am in my 14th consecutive year as a Redleg member. I lived in Melbourne but moved to Sydney five years ago and currently live in Cronulla. Up until 12 months ago my work took me all over the country, ironically in 2014 I spent the majority of the year working in Melbourne and was able to attend about 9 games. I have also spent a lot of time in the Hunter Valley. I've lost track of the amount of pubs I've asked for the AFL to be put on only to have the smallest TV in the room put on without volume and yet I still manage to make more noise than punters that have gathered to watch the league. In the last 12 months I've been back in Sydney full time and have worked more than my share of weekends. I will often take my earphones in or just have the phone In my top pocket with radio on then try to steal a glance through the live game app when it permits. In short we all do our bit. Take a break from the game but don't walk away for ever. Whether I like it or not I'm addicted to the game and this club. I stand by my comments, real suppoters stick fat.

And Carlton might lose again but are putting in another good showing. -
Time for Roos to give up Match Day duties?

You'd like to think players get to a stage where they are self motivated. The good teams seem to have those types. -
Careful not to knock the bong over on your way out the door. Yes the rule tampering is a joke but I think they might finally have it right, some of the games in the first two rounds have been great. By all means stick it up Sydney and the farce that is COLA but what has Geelong and Hawthorn done outside of the rules? Our players could learn from this clubs. Real fans stick fat.

Agreed. Lets do an exercise, Hawks currently lead the Eagles. If the Eagles can't beat them today they never will. And this is being generous.... take out Rough : Hogan Hodge : Jones Hill : Garlett Shiels : Vince We are a fucken rabble make no mistake. -
Time for Roos to give up Match Day duties?
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Redjacket's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes but why weren't the players switched on? How many more bonding sessions are needed? How many more digging their own toilet getaways? Roos is meant to be the ultimate team builder, empowering the players etc. In his third year as coach he is clearly at a loss. -

I just posted in the "Roos match day thread" Robert Shaw spoke about Freo. They've tried attacking football for two weeks for a result of 0-2. Next week they will go back into lockdown mode and there will be a total of 13 goals kicked for the game. Where to for us? What, were we ambushed? As STMJ alluded to we knew the Bombers were steeling themselves for this game. Something which has been lost on the players for eternity is coming to play every week. They are genuinely dumb, there is no other explanation for them not grasping this simple concept. Lets ts not forget Goodwin has 3 years left after this season, we need to know ASAP if he can coach. -

Interested to see how Carltons season plays out. Bulldogs turned it around in one season under Beverage, everything takes this club longer, everything. Would also love to know how much Goodwin is on, we need to know as soon as possible if he can coach. He still got 3 years after this season. Serious questtion, who is touted as the next coach in waiting. Anyone left at Hawthorn? -
Time for Roos to give up Match Day duties?
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Redjacket's topic in Melbourne Demons
We all know how Roos coached Sydney. We get the whole strip it back, get back to basics when he first took over, focus on defending and stoping the blowouts but after two years of defending its time to attack and he hasn't the skill set to coach us to the next step. He's built the list, attempted to change the culture and brought a level of professionalism to the place but the time is now. Robert Shaw made a great point on SEN this morning when speaking about Freo. He said : They tried this new craze that is "attacking football" and it hasn't worked, the currently sit 0-2. Next week there will be a 7 goals to 8 goals game as they go back into lockdown mode, because it's all they know. What do we now do? I think Roos has taken us as far as he can. His role on match day should now be sitting on the bench trying to get into and stay in the players heads, because clearly all the work he has done so far with regards to mental approach/application and that of Leading Teams has been a waste. -

Not at all. If it wasn't for SC I wouldn't even know who some of the Essendon players are. If we then look at some of the excuses thrown up for our players over the years for far more trivial things then compare that to the situation the Bombers find them selves in. We are a mess, an absolute rabble. Yesterday's loss was inexcusable. -

Again, all things considered arguably the worst loss in the games history. We are a mess. -

Roos has built the list, changed the culture although today disproves that, raised the bar with regards to training and preparation and given the place a professional feel but.... the last two years was all about defence, does he have the tactical nous? -

I raised this in the "changes for next week thread" but does Goodwin need to take over now. What else can Roos bring to the table that he hasn't already? On game day I want Goody upstairs and Roos on the bench getting in players faces when they come off. -

But did we play them one on one? From what I saw we had a stagnant zone and as soon as they got an overlap they were away. -
How many will Hogan get on Saturday?
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wasn't throwing his name up as a target, though I see how it reads that way. Just out of frustration, I'm currently in QLD so had Freo/Suns free to air. He just made everything look so easy. -
