A Day at the Races
I listened to an interview the other day with Simon Miller, trainer of Achernar Star ($21) in the Railway Stakes, he was sounding confident the horse would run well, his only concern being the horse has drawn the river as he put it. Good luck at Ascot Macca, I’ll tune back in for the Railway. Niccanova was my other bet apart from our Best Multi. Luckily it gained some miracle run to finish powerfully. It was backed off the map. Came into $2 the tote.

Yeah good win Macca, I thought the leader had pinched the Cup also. I backed Life Less Ordinary each-way, happy with the $2.90 place tote. Ran on ok for third. 2 seconds with our bests so far.

Haha, it wasn’t me, my mate was hoping the money was right. Unfortunately it didn’t put in a good run at all.

A previous best on here wins the big one Macca. Had the Brut in the last leg of a few multis, not to be though. Great effort regardless. El has been backed heavily for the next.

A Day at the Races
Awesome win in a thrilling finish, thought it was race over as Sully looked to have the momentum. An even better win as both Jaameh and Sully somehow ended up running back towards the rails the last 100m.

Keep the selections coming fellas. Will try my luck with another quaddie. I’ll probably take 5 runners in each leg and would be glorious to be alive in the last leg with El saluting. Good luck all, should be another good day’s racing.

A Day at the Races
He’s worth a few dollars Macca. Although he is one of the lowest rated horses in the field, the race he won at Sale was a qualifier of some sort for Saturday’s race. He was equal 1st in the ballot at weights stage so he would have made the field regardless. It would have been an easy choice for me to make anyway. He’s not nominated for anything else and as far as I know it’s all systems go. Yeah, you could argue he’s a bit out of his depth but sometimes you just have to run with what’s presented. Like you said above, last race of the four day carnival and anything can happen. Comes in at a nice weight and they have a recent Group 1 winning jockey on board.

A Day at the Races
The field legs certainly provided some value Macca. It’s a method I’ve used before and managed to get a few collects on quaddies. Nothing huge though. Aristia never crossed my mind even though it was the second pick. Live and learn indeed, it’s worth it even for the smaller percentage. Bleu Roche was tough in the win, managed to watch the race on one of my breaks. El Magnificence running at Flemington Saturday, up against one of our previous bests in ‘Eurack’. You never know, currently $19.

Pass Mark 2019
I came across an article by Sarah Olle from Fox Sports about team benchmarks for the upcoming season. We all know clubs need luck on the injury front and sometimes a season doesn’t always go to plan for one reason or another. With a fit and healthy list we are more than capable of making the preliminary final again despite a challenging fixture in my opinion. Sarah won’t be the only person in the media expecting us to be a genuine premiership contender in 2019. Personally, I feel Sarah’s pass mark is a bit high. I’m interested to read members’ benchmarks on here for 2019 and this discussion is not intented about Goodwin walking should we finish 8th. Mods, please feel free to merge if this has been covered elsewhere. MELBOURNE AFTER years of hell, the Demons are not only back to being relevant, but a genuine premiership contender. And after winning two finals in 2018 the club is on track to go one better and make the Grand Final. While the Demons lost Jesse Hogan to Fremantle, they added star defender Steven May (Gold Coast) to their list. Plus Jake Lever will be ready to go, after recovering from an ACL injury. There’s plenty of reason to get excited if you’re a Melbourne fan — and 2019 could be the drought breaking year. Pass mark: Second or higher

A Day at the Races
Quinella paid ok Wadda. Cross Counter was last at one stage. It was a good day here with family, food and drinks. Had a win on Cross Counter and the day could have been better if we didn’t miss the last leg of the quaddie. We ran second and third in the final leg. The approximates were around 10k for those picks and we had a decent percentage of it, but like you said, we can’t complain. Yes, Godolphin’s first.

Thanks, went looking for the article. Long ban. McEvoy also fined $3000 for using the whip four more times than the permitted amount in the last 400m on Cross Counter. I wonder if he’ll go on a payment plan.

Haha Macca, they tried the old pattern of making the pace today to no avail. Poor old Tom, broken horse from all those past seconds.
