Dean Laidley arrested
Just wow, all these screenshots of text messages going around with alleged offences and the photos are just horrible. Really feel for the Laidley family and hope they stay away from social media as much as they can. It’s a shame something like this will take the focus off the virus for the next week or so.

Coronavirus: AFL & MFC
Hubs, hubs and more hubs. I’m really struggling to see how a scenario like this is going to work at the moment. Apparently most AFL clubs are against players’ families staying with them in the hubs. Sloane admitted in an interview the other night it would be very difficult to leave his wife and 7 month old behind in SA with no support network. Good to see a candid response, I’m sure there are other players with the same feelings as Sloane whilst others would be ready to kick a ball tomorrow anywhere. Could well be in the minority but I’m not missing the footy as much as I thought I would. Might just be all these ideas reminding me we are not back to normal yet.

2000 Preliminary Final
This game will always be remembered for the Wiz show but Powell’s performance was pretty special too.

Coronavirus & Other Sports
Dutch football league cancelled, ladder leader Ajax won’t be declared as champions. This comes after Dutch Prime Minister announced a ban on large gatherings including sports will be extended until September 1st. The other day I read the Germans set a possible date for resumption in late May yet neighbours Holland have gone screw this, it’s over. Trying to work out if everyone is on the same page here. Copy and paste is no longer working for me on here for some reason, any help would be appreciated. The article came from 9 Wide World of Sports.

GAME 16: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Wight vs Whelan
This is probably the toughest matchup to split for me. Wight with perfect balance and athleticism, Wheels tough and uncompromising with his tackling a feature weekly. Both fantastic clubmen, watching some of the older clips on the site put up by various posters reminded me how good Wight was and Wheels looked like a seasoned pro from the day he made his debut against the Saints in 2000. Had to be reminded that Wheels actually played his first final in his 5th season due to some unlucky late season injuries in 2000-02.

A Day at the Races
Nice fellas, Macca with Race 1 winner in Syd, Wadda with Race 2, I’m sure Rubisaki was in some of our multis, mine anyway but the Pippie was swallowed up at Caulfield so no good there. Kinane just got me back on track. Edit: Sorry, got it wrong way around. Wadda R1 and Macca R2.

Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory
We didn’t lose this game but does anyone remember R1 2003? An almost epic capitulation. Flicking through YouTube the other day I came across the last quarter of that particular match. Couldn’t remember how it played out so I pressed play. We led the Hawks by 38 points with just under 12 to play and they tied it up 10 minutes later before Green kicked the winner.

VarDee video
Huge last quarter, watching it now reminded me how good a commentator Clinton Grybas was.

10 Dees Who Played Under 10 Games
James Cook. 8 goals after his first two games with us. He was injured early in his third and final game. Anyone with a better goal average for under 10 games?

GAME 6: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Tingay vs Jakovich
Sheesh, we’ve had some serious talent over the years. Who remembers Tingay’s transformation from a skinny little kid to a beefed up machine? I feared for some opposition players the way he tackled them sometimes. I also remember him having around 16 possessions in the first quarter of the 94 prelim at the WACA before they took him out of the game with some kind of dodgy taking of the legs for memory? Unlucky he’s up against Jako here.

2004 Missed opportunity
Been watching a few clips lately like most and came across this the other day. Remembering the good bits. Round 2, 2004.

2004 Missed opportunity
Ahh...what a season! Went overseas just after the midway point of the season and it started splendidly. We thumped the ladder leading Saints by 10 goals and enjoyed another 3 weeks of listening to wins at ridiculous hours of the morning in Internet cafes. Came back just in time for 5 losing games.

1988 Elimination Final
Tuned in at a good time. It seems players did everything better back then. Picking the ball up cleanly in greasy conditions, none of this fumble fest we see these days. Players using both feet really well. A much better spectacle than today.

GAME 3: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Yze vs Johnstone
Johnstone for me too. Both extremely talented but when on song TJ is probably my favourite ever Demon. FWIW, I attended a QLD Demons function back in 2012-13 prior to a Suns game and TJ turned up as a guest speaker. One comment I remember and found interesting from his speech was that in his opinion the team he played in back then would have won at least one flag with better facilities.

Obscure Ex-Demons
Does James Cook qualify? Only the two and a bit games due to injury. A bit of a what if. He looked like an absolute bargain pickup for us in season 2000 if his goal tally was anything to go by in the first 2 rounds.
