Reported on Ch7. Returned to Perth. Will be delisted at years end...
-
Are you joking? They were clearly the best two on ground. Daylight to the next best. Deserve the votes.

He knocked the ball out as he tackled?
-
Chook told it well. It happened while they were at a team building retreat in Moganshan outside of Shanghai. Place is called Naked Retreats, blissful as. No idea why the boys were on the sauce in such a way! Spewed on Scully's bed... Still, funnier things happened that weekend...

We just aren't instictive - some of us that is.
The Red Fox replied to Demon17's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wasn't playing on the first option? I agree with your title btw... -
Walker was #2. But I get (and agree with) your point... 1. Cooney. 3. Sylvia. 4. Ray. 5. McLean...

You're kidding right! Spare us the outrageous melodrama...

We're not playing that badly - hear me out
The Red Fox replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
2011 leading disposals (average) Moloney - 23.1 Jones - 23.0 Scully - 20.8 Trengrove - 20.3 Sylvia - 20.0 Mckenzie - 20.0 Gysberts - 19.4 And our ruckman is terribly out of sorts. Not an excuse, rather an observation from someone who is yet to see a premiership match this year... we just don't have the midfield cattle at the moment. -
We're not playing that badly - hear me out
The Red Fox replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
We've got one of the best fitness guys in the game. We've raised the bar on previous pre-seasons and had our physically toughest pre season on record. Our players are accused of not running enough during the game... but we're out on our feet at half time? What gives? Anyone?? -
Didn't realise rebuilding a rubbish list and tanking are one and the same...

Absolutely right. TC played two blinders on Piggy and Peter Rodhe kept Dermie quiet both weeks as well. Few thought we could back up and beat the Hawks two weeks in a row... how sweet was it when we did. Miss those days.

Top Ten Could-a-been Champions for the MFC
The Red Fox replied to bush demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Stephen Tingay, Glenn Lovett, David Schwarz, Paul Prymke, Sean Charles, Gary Lyon, Alan Jackovic. If we'd kept these guys on the park... seen the best of them... we'd have won a flag in the mid-90's. -
Your Top 10 All-Time Favourite Demons
The Red Fox replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not in order... Ricky Jackson Andrew Obst Gary Lyon Andy Lovell Stephen Tingay Alan Jackovich Jimma Stynes Shane Woewodin TJ Col Sylvia And for good measure. One player I never warmed to seeing line up in the red & blue... Paul Hopgood - hit up the opposition by foot more often then he did his team mates. -
Im not sure who to credit with these but there are some brilliant photos from the day up on Facebook... http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.255477424498846.56847.137237636322826&type=1

He was required, as cover for Frawley and the other KPD's. You say 'give' as if he's entitled to more games, reality is he is a good ordinary player, a reasonable stopper but a liability with the ball. He is not a top line player and with the personnel we have developed he no longer deserved a regular game on merit. We took a punt on him when he was a raw, quick 20 yer old 'development player' on Sandy's list. I don't think too many other AFL clubs were looking at him when he was rookied by us so if his journey with the MFC finishes similarly (with little interest from other clubs) its hardly any fault of ours.

Leave those to me Rollo
-
Rollo I'll be back on Australian soil within 24 hours and if you'll have me I'll stick around for a run on the 23rd. I could use the run actually as our Shanghai AFL Grand Final is the following weekend. Another of my Sh mates (who has played with us once before) will also be in town. "Sticksy" has been taking the SHAFL by storm, strutting around like an 80's full forward and kicking a few bags too. Pencil him in. Numbers look pretty solid but I'll contact some of my boys who have played with us in the past to see who else wants a run should we need.

Agree with all but the first and last statements. Another who needs to lift? I think Jared is one of the few players on our list who is presently playing close to their maximum potential. We know he's a limited athlete (lacking speed and size for his position) but he's a courageous and smart footballer who, in my opinion, is getting the best out of himself.

Over a decade WJ. Most votes polled by a Melbourne player since Woewodin won the Brownlow in 2000. Before that it was none other than Todd Viney with 20 votes in 1998. Before him, Big Jimma when he won it in 1991. 4 times in two decades... Rare company. Fantastic effort Beamer!

Which Players Will Stand Up For Neeld
The Red Fox replied to Watt and Howe?'s topic in Melbourne Demons
Are you talking about disposal efficiency? Cause Grimes ain't your man. Mind you he'll benefit from not having to dispose of the ball so often in the defensive 50 while under extreme pressure from an opposition forward press. FWIW I think he'll play his nest football as a mid. Then again, if we're talking about role players, he's your Hodge or Maxwell... -
Which Players Will Stand Up For Neeld
The Red Fox replied to Watt and Howe?'s topic in Melbourne Demons
Given Jurrah's game style I really can't see the benefit of adding 10kgs to his frame. He needs a better fitness base so he can produce repeat efforts on field, but I can only see that more size will rob him of speed, arial ability and agility. -
If the B&F is any indication than our best leader is our best player. Moloney is the soul of this club and deserves the captaincy. Interesting that Grimes won the leadership award, despite being off the field most of the season.

Yet curiously I couldn't post on the old Demonland from my iPad, but now it's a dream! Love the upgrade!

Royal to coach Midfield, Greaves assistant
The Red Fox replied to Trengove the Magnifique 9's topic in Melbourne Demons
To continue the teaching analogy, let's remember that the assistant coaches are working to a curriculum, but they're not writing the curriculum. Neeld is doing that. Royal was implementing Bailey's defensive vision last season and next season he'll be working out of Neeld's lesson book. Of course top line assistants (like Neeld was) can contribute greatly to the development of a game plan but in Melbourne's present situation, where they'll largely be learning a new playing style, having an assistant who is a good teacher and communicator should suffice.
