  1. Can confirm that the knee was nowhere near 100% when he returned, and heavily impacted his form this season. Don't be surprised if he comes back after a full preseason looking more like early 2021 Thommo.
  2. Makes sense. Seems to fit the competitive animal mould, has positional flexibility so can start out as a defender at AFL level.
  3. Not really keen on Cadman personally. I wonder whether we'd be interested in Rueben Ginbey (another WA kid, I know).
  4. Like it until we trade 7. Think we'd keep the top 10 pick.
  5. Are Max and Grundy (at his peak) superstars? How's he tracking comapared to those guys at the same age, just so we're comparing apples to apples and not ruckmen to midfielders. To be more reasonable, how's he going compared to other dominant key position players at the same age? Of the current crop, I reckon most people who know what they're talking about would take Jackson over any other player in the comp, other than maybe Sam De Koning and Max King. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess, but I think many of our fans have been blinded by this year where his performance was clearly hampered by injury.
  6. I think it's impossible to make this call without having seen any of them play a game at AFL level. Give me the proven commodity with superstar upside over the man child key forward who dominated less developed opposition, the explosive kid who missed almost all of his draft year but averaged like 23(?) disposals a game when he did play and the crafty mid forward with athletisism concerns.
  7. Clayton had genuine interest in going to Carlton...
  8. Who do you have over Jackson in this draft? I don't think any of the top 5 possess his upside, Ashcroft included.
  9. Doesn't look like I have many friends here, but I like Hunter the player. We desperately need a wingman to play the other side to Langdon and Hunter fits the bill. Better user and more damaging than Jordon. Can't speak to the off field stuff - assume we do our due diligence etc.
  10. It's common practice for clubs to have state of the art training and admin facilities in the outer suburbs / away from their "spiritual homes". Off the top of my head, two teams I support in Arsenal (London Colney) and the Dallas Cowboys (The Star) are based miles away from their homes, being the Emirates and AT&T Stadium respectively. If it's not possible to get something built close to the G, why not go big at Casey? Melbourne City FC have just had a sizable facility built (check it out here - https://melbournecityfc.com.au/news/melbourne-city-fc-create-new-etihad-city-football-academy-australia-south-east-melbourne), so there's clearly an appetite from the powers that be to house professional sporting organisations out that way.
  11. It'd be incredibly naive to assume there's no substance to these rumours.
  12. Nah, I reckon he's pretty well liked overall amongst our fan base.
  13. Cerra would've been wearing red and blue if we had the draft capital to get the deal done. Had nothing to do with salary.
  14. All aboard the "Get Zak Butters" train.
  15. Trading Salem would be aggressive, but certainly not smart. Bloke had a down year with injury but is one of the premier HBFs in the league when fit. He's also not a winger's [censored]. Number 1 requirement for a wingman in today's game - running capacity. Salem doesn't have it.
  16. Haven't watched much Casey this year, but who in the world is this Moniz-Wakefield kid? Looks an AFL talent based on that game.
  17. Played with a fractured back from 19 years old onwards. Good career all things considered. Smart guy - onto bigger and better things from here I reckon.
  18. I was there. Seems it was number 43 (some no name). Harmes spent a good 2 minutes getting stuck into him afterwards, then ANB did the same when he got up.
  19. Unpopular opinion, but the correct one.
  20. I'm a perennial optimist, and I won't be losing sleep if either/both of Gus and Jacko leave for the above reasons. Ideally we keep them both, but I'd be hesitant to pay Gus overs even if Jacko left. It's funny, prior to winning a flag I always thought I'd be content with winning one, even if it meant we were terrible for 10 years thereafter. Now, having finally got there, I'm excited by the prospect of finishing top 4 and contending every year for the next 10 years. I look at Geelong, and although I loathe them, I have to respect how they've managed to put themselves in contention for about 15 years straight. That is an absurd run. There's a chance both leaving can result in us extending our competitive window well into the future, not only by enabling us to bring in talent via the draft (assuming Freo can maneuver their way into at least 1 top 10 pick, plus another first rounder for Jacko), but also by freeing up cap space to chase stars who become available in the future. We're in a potential win-win situation here folks. Let's just chill and and see how it plays out.
  21. Pretty sure Ed Langdon said something like that last year.
  22. Remarkable how polished he looked for a bottom age player.
  23. I watched my first game of this year's carnival over the weekend (Country vs WA) given there's a chance we'll wind up with a decent pick for LJ. No shortage of talent in that Country side. I'd be happy with all of Cadman, Clark and Szybkowski based on that viewing alone. Also, that Harley Reid looked like a Tom Stewart clone - a real talent.
