  1. I was on the Laverde train pretty early, but I've changed my mind a little bit since then. I'm not 100% sure he will ever be a midfielder, and his decision making off the HBF can be horrendous at times. At this stage he tends to rush things when he has the ball, almost as if he panics. That isn't to say he can't be moulded into an excellent footballer, the attributes are certainly there. One other thing I want to mention about McCartin is please try to hold judgement until you have seen footage of him unhindered by injuries in last year's championships. He was incredible for an underage player, and this "spud" talk is clearly coming from people who wouldn't have the slightest clue how good anyone in this draft can be. For now, I'm going to sit on the fence with pick 3 and back in our recruiting department to make the correct decision. All players in contention have tremendous strengths and glaring weaknesses, the deciding factor in who becomes the best footballer will be how well they are developed. But I will say this, if our recruiters genuinely believe Jake Lever can be a midfielder, they must take him. It is a big if, but he has the most potential of anyone in this class in my opinion.
  2. Anyone else keen to see GNF explain his riddles? Not so we can have a go at him, just to see if anyone got remotely close.
  3. Lever > Petracca. There, I said it.
  4. Reading this thread over the last day has reminded me of this:
  5. This reminds me of the time Hawthorn traded Trent Croad. Hawks fans were up in arms (including my mother I might add). Seemed to work out okay for them if my memory serves me correctly.
  6. Deserved a like for that last comment alone.
  7. I would class Jones, Tyson, McDonald, Salem and Gawn as more important to us going forward than Frawley or Clark. It isn't ideal having them leave, but it certainly isn't the end of the world.
  8. For me, De Goey has the tools to be a potential A-Grade midfielder in the modern game. Height, disposal, clean hands, contested ball winning ability and can obviously swing forward and kick goals. He should be our man in my opinion.
  9. Statistically the likelihood of the best player in this draft being taken in the top three is surprisingly pretty low. Though Petracca/Brayshaw look like guns now, if you look at the history of recent drafts, there is a greater probability that even better players will be available at lower picks. Trade down Roos and co.
  10. Surprised anyone still cares. See ya Mitch, don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.
  11. 2 + 3 and Toumpas for Dangerfield and their first pick. I'd take that.
  12. Bang on. You need all types in a successful footy club. Shouldn't shy away from from someone who may be a bit different, good coaches and teams will embrace that.
  13. Calm down folks. No one is nominating Billy with their first round pick. He is worth a mid to late second rounder at best.
  14. I know him fairly well. He's rough, but he is certainly not a rubbish human. Give me a spell.
  15. De Goey vs Brayshaw could be telling.
  16. Should be the highest paid player at the club by some margin. Doubt he will leave.
  17. That's all good and well, but I'm not convinced Clark will get back to AFL level. I don't think Roos is all that convinced either.
  18. This is the key point for me. It's looking like it could be a pretty low act by Clark, but at the end of the day this situation could put our club in a much better position in the long run.
