Farewell Jesse Hogan
You'd wait a year, in our premiership window, because you're unwilling to part ways with a draft pick that will almost certainly not have a dramatic impact on our side in the next 3 years? Personally I'd just get it done if he wants to play for us.

GC won't cop pick 11 for Steven May, nor should they. Pick 5 is a good result for all parties. Get it done!

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I'm baffled that there are fans who would be hesitant to give pick 5 for May. Our list is nearly in the contender sweet spot, there is no potential draftee that will help us win a flag more than May over the next 3 years. Even if there was, you are no guarantee to get them in what is almost a lucky draw anyway.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
If that plays out, you take Rankine and run. The guy would walk into our best 22, he's the most AFL ready player in this draft.

Welcome to Demonland Toby Bedford
Didn't realise he was an academy option for us. I was at the game on Friday and thought he looked a player. Hard, fast and skilled. Busted his ass to apply pressure all game. Big yes from me.

Oliver's Weapons of Mass Distribution
I was born in 94, so I haven't been around for nearly as long as many Dees fans on here. I also recognise that recency bias tends to play a part when making these kinds of calls, you only need to look at the current debate around Jordan/Lebron in the NBA. Having said that, I am now certain that Clarry is the best footballer I've seen at the club in my lifetime. The incredible aspect of that statement is that he's still only 20 years old, and will probably still get better. I have never seen the consistency of excellence he provides every week from anyone who's pulled on our jumper, regardless of age.

Tom McDonald Contract Talks
Tom is a smart guy. He'll get the best deal for himself, but he won't leave.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Bontempelli "zoomed up" relatively late. Joel Selwood had pre existing injury concerns. Meh.

Reminds me of a white, AFL version of Marshawn Lynch.

Yeah, Jack Viney at one point said Jimmy Toumpas was the best player he's played with. Cool.

Darcy Parish
Alternatively, there was another phantom draft done at the time on bigfooty, and they were less than glowing about Toumpas at a time when a lot of "experts" were. You win some and you lose some, but if you're using Knightmare as a draft resource, you're gonna have a bad time.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
I reckon we shouldn't trade our first pick for anyone now that Shiel, and likely Treloar, are off the table. Hit the early picks again (would happily trade Howe for another first round pick) and add to what is already a pretty promising young, tight-knit core. Radical idea, I know.

The 2014 AFL National Draft
Statistically the likelihood of the best player in this draft being taken in the top three is surprisingly pretty low. Though Petracca/Brayshaw look like guns now, if you look at the history of recent drafts, there is a greater probability that even better players will be available at lower picks. Trade down Roos and co.

... or maybe it was just a win-win trade?
