COACHES VOTES: Round 07
May 2 votes. Is that a joke !!! He was sensational all night and stopped countless Tiger attacks. 21 kicks ,12 marks ,7 rebound50s, 96% disposal efficiency. Wow.

NON-MFC: Round 07
Agree. JJ would be getting more opportunities at the Dees now with the loss of Brayshaw as well as Harmes moving on. We have to hope our key midfielders stay healthy as the midfield depth is very very thin.

CASEY: Rd 05 vs Richmond
I think Southport will move back to QAFL in 2025. Not sure why they are in this competition given it’s principally VFL ex standalone teams and then the AFL-or-aligned teams.

AFL Mid-Season Draft 2024
The context of my post was the young guns match. In that game Tobyn Murray was the best mid & looked like he had the skill and smarts to develop further. Obviously the end of year National draft offers more young mids, and some around the 187-188cms physique.

AFL Mid-Season Draft 2024
Yes that was my point. We have lost our depth in mids (departures of Brayshaw, Harmes, Jordon and Dunstan) have left us in need our recruits to fill this void. I would like to us fix this, starting in the mid year draft.

AFL Mid-Season Draft 2024
Dees have no young midfielders coming through. If you look at Casey, they got smashed in the midfield by Tigers last week in clearances and through the middle. I think we lack any depth in the midfield especially after losing Brayshaw, Jordon and not getting young mids (aside from Windsor) in the last 3-4 drafts. I’d like to see us look at young midfielder in this mid year draft and again with our first pick in November National draft. If we wanted a ruckman, in my view Coburg ruckman Cooper Keogh would be the one to strongly consider if available.

Best team quarter of the season
It was to be clear, we have not found a CHF or FF on a consistent basis. JVR is young and we will persist but he needs to take the simple marks (dropping most marks at the moment). Petty is not the answer. Schache is not the answer. Tmcd is not the answer. Turner was good v Tigers but likely is makeshift (he’s really a prototype Lever interceptor). Jefferson is young and not developing as we would like. Brown is on last very last legs. We are competing against teams with quality key forwards Curnow-McKay, Daniher, Cameron-Hawkins, Hogan, Mihocek.

Best team quarter of the season
Brown has played and shown he’s a vital part of the team , then well dropped off and then nudda. He should be kept on ice until September

AFL Mid-Season Draft 2024
Oskar Smartt from Bendigo and Tobyn Murray from Geelong were good in the young guns game. Like to see more and would fit in as youngsters with more upside. Murray especially had skills and balance to make an AFL midfielder.

Stats Files - 2024
Dees are listed as - bottom 4 disposal efficiency - below AFL avg contested possessions bottom 6 in contested possessions - bottom 4 handball efficiency - bottom 4 centre clearances - below afl avg inside 50s unbelievable that we are not the contest kings as other clubs have lifted their smarts and intensity in the middle and at stoppage But we are strong in - leading intercept marks - average points against (66) is the lowest Our Defence is Very Very Good Our midfield is just average right now Our forward line is still a 15 year work in progress

NON-MFC: Round 07
Our last two have been horrible. But the Dees effort and intensity and skill v Power was what WE are capable of delivering. Let’s bring that weekly !!

Best team quarter of the season
B: Lever, May, McVee HB: Rivers, Petty, Bowey C: Windsor, Viney, Langdon HF: ******, ****** Neal-Bullen F: Fritsch, ******* , Pickett FOLL: Gawn, Petracca, Oliver IC: Howes, Sparrow, Chandler, ******* SUB: ****** still searching for key forwards JVR is jumping a lot but has dropped 90% of his attempts. We will keep him in at the promise of better times. BBB is physically not up to week by week footy. Save him for September?? Petty is not a natural forward and lacks confidence. We are trying to turn a premiership defender into a patchwork forward. TMCD looks more comfortable in defence but so did Petty and Petty makes less mistakes. Schache was very soft and shown he’s a VFL quality player. ??? Jefferson is in development but looking very iffy right now. others have not yet cemented places. Salem started ok but was poor in games before getting injured. He will be back and in but I’m looking for huge improvement in him across pace and skills. Sparrow lacks pace and is not a half forward. Bench player on rotation. Chin is in and out. Up and down. Bench at best. Howes is versatile and will be a player. Billings is ok. Just ok. Woey jnr needs more games. options. Mcadam once fit can play half forward and kick goals. We need more firepower. Yes we will try Disco Turner. Love his attitude to compete. AMW must be given a chance soon. Tholstrup is not ready yet. More VFL time.

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
The Great 👑Gawn just a leader and warrior Champion ruckman we are blessed 👑May love his intensity marked and defended everything The Very Good 👏👏Rivers ran and rebounded and kicked and ran and tackled and ran 👏👏Lever solid as a rock with interceptions 👏👏Turner love the Disco fever Good mark and love the celebrations The Good 👍🏻Langdon another good game across all areas 👍🏻McVee reliable and controlled Dusty 👍🏻Howes solid just solid again Was ok Pickett - so close Started well then drifted but we look dangerous with him in Neal- Bullen got in and under but disposal were ineffective mostly Windsor - run run run good interception goal Billings - was better but just ok Pace? Intensity? Fritsch - in and out Two beautiful goals Woey jnr - was ok Run down tackles were good Need to lift 🤞Petracca - sometimes glimpses of his best but went missing as he was tagged Fumbled and sloppy handballs missed targets 🤨McDonald - bad turnovers x 3 were costly 🤞Viney - a bull and we love JV7 but decision making again was lacking 🤞Oliver - we know he’s a champion. Skills off but he’s sheer willpower carries him 🤞he discovers his mojo Really struggling 🥶Sparrow - lack of pace showed up last night. Fumbled in 3-4 crucial stages. Not sure he’s a midfielder 😭JVR - just can’t hold his marks. He jumps around a lot. Another nearly game 🥶Chandler - overran the footy Fumbled Effort yes but has dropped off again * Laurie - sub so limited chances. Skills yes. Pace no. Goals were classy. But he was twice easily beaten in contests and lacks pace. 🤢Petty - confidence as a forward is shot. Even shots for goal, he looks uncertain. Needs to get back to a premiership defender. Goodwin - laughing at mistakes. That’s ridiculous. Imagine the great RDB laughing. The coach must demand the highest standards.
-
NON-MFC: Round 07
How do we pick off their youngsters??? They’d stay for sure. So much talent.
-
NON-MFC: Round 07
Goodwin. Watch the Giants. Hard work. Run. Intensity. Quick ball movement. Concentration on skills. Forwards as forwards. Bedford is very good. The Giants are the standard. That’s no laughing matter.
-
PREGAME: Rd 08 vs Geelong
Laughing. Laughing. Laughing. I wasn’t laughing watching it. Seriously a team switched off and had a very very poor first half. Steven May was not laughing. The standards were poor. Where’s the hunger. It seems like we won our premiership and now are comfortable. Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard.
