Exactly right Anders. Sad but true. Bruce running ito a clear goal last 1/4 also, (on an angle) never looked like it. Bad Umpires ,in this case positioning, only becomes apparent in a tight game. We dominated for much of the game, had plenty of shots from around 50m that didnt goal, and could have won by 2-3 goals. Nevertheless, to watch the games of TJ, Jones, McDonald, Pettard, Dunn's second half and the mighty Rivers ( BOG for mine) was great cause for optimism.

Real credentials for coaching - none, but he hates losing. Thats' good enough. Lets look at proven coaches available - i.e. ones that have won a Premiership. Others don't interest me. Current Unavailable - Roos, Worsfold, Matthews, Malthouse, Williams - Forget them (contracted) Maybe Available - Pagan (no thanks), Sheedy(unlikely), Too Old/Not interested - Blight, Allan Jeans, David Parkin, That leaves Wallsy. Any other ideas gratefully received.

Lyon needs to be made an offer he can't refuse - seriously. Then build the right Assitants Team with experience, maybe Parkin would welcome a new challenge as 2 in C/mentor for a fixed term of say 2 seasons. Bring back Viney as an Asst. maybe. We could brainstorm this into a real option. That's the model. Brilliant for marketing, probably brutal enough, defintely smart enough.

What SHOULD happen though is that by Round 15, if things don't look good, he and the Board agree not to seek renewal or extension. (The Tony Shaw model) This gives the best of prospective new coaches several months to get their ducks lined up, and prevent the farce that was hawthorn when they appointed Clarkson. It enables the new coach to also seek out the best availbale in Assistants and support staff they require, and be ready to hit the ground after the October players break. There is some serious HR experience on the Board. If this approach doesn't go I'll be surprised and dissapointed. It's called planning , stupid. Craig's a master. Even Buckley said on SEN last night that he didnt mind which players were on the field, what he did mind was that those 22 selected carried out the plan to instructions, and the rest takes care of itself. Plan is more important than personnel.
