  1. [quote name='mousey' date='Feb 14 2007, 08:27 AM' post='58446] Everyone of course. But i would like to see Miller and Rivers stand up more this year. Rivers was impressive in patches but not consistent i thought.
  2. There's a mathematician in every crowd. This says 71% reckon we'll make the finals - 4 years in a row. The rest can whistle Dixi. Good starting point to go on with - not to be staified though.
  3. FWIW, I think Old and Bob have got it spot on......once again.
  4. I don't "..hate.." anyone, let alone someone in a MFC jumper, and I WAS at many of those games. I was ALSO at the Elim Final against the Saints last year and saw Brock McLean pull it out of the fire, I saw Bate clean up opponents last year when he had no right to at that age. There's only one record that counts in AFL - your finals performance record. (Stand up Daniel Bell, TJ and some others). If your happy to finish 6th-4th this year, and fall out in the 2nd or 3rd last week of Sept. then fine. Lets do an Australian Cricket team and give some people a mortgage on a spot instead of looking at younger, more deserving talent. Its called succession planning - the trick is to get the timing right.
  5. A spot on reflection here. ND said as much in a recent interview. The off field pressure is off with a sound Administration. It's up to him now. I believe the Base camp is in place this year. Time will tell.
  6. I may be out of line here, but i saw Brian Dixon and Flower play. Robert Flower was a seriously better and more skilful playetr than Dixon. Barassi refusing to play keith greig on Flower tells its own story the esteem he was held in .
  7. 2. Dee's V Swans 2nd Semi @ The G in 1987. I wasnt at this game ,but I was at the previous week's demolition of North melbourne, when Flower kicked about 6. He played with a small fracture in the hand , and at the coin toss, the North Captain John Law, squeezed hard in the handshake to test it out. Interestingly for readers of this site, again he was taken off by Northey with 10 minutes to go (dees up by over 100pts) to the biggest standing ovation Iv'e ever seen at the 'G' and was replaced by.... Rhino Richards! - straight into the centre.
  8. Quite probably from the AFL's own Drug report from last year, leaked to Faifax papers and others, which named players, and for which the AFL successfully took out an injunction to prevent publication. That's a fairly good source IMO. This was a serious leak and resulted in the AFL changing drug testing providers this week in an effort to tighten security on information. BTW, I wonder if the day a Perth newspaper publishes a negative story about Worsfold and the team , is the day it goes out of business? A bit like Collingwood being untochable by some Melb papers overhere.
  9. .au/footy/common/story_page/0,8033,21041554%255E20322,00.html]here). Brent Moloney, ..... in full training after recovering from injury Am I reading this correctly. Brent Moloney and full training applied in the same sentence. What's the story??
  10. She doesn't have , nor need, any sources. The AFL and AFLPA successfully sought an injunction against Fairfax and others to prevent publication of offending players named in the AFL's own drug report which some of the media got hold of and wished to publish. The silence of the AFL and relevant clubs will be deafening on this. Caro's article would have been well and truly 'legaled' before pulication. Good on her for calling a spade a spade. - Pretty rare in AFL media circles. Never bite the hand that feeds you etc.
  11. Sure do, and great get this one. the important aspect at the time was that Steve O'Dwyer had just clocked a Carlton player with a forearm to the head - bit of a fight on the flank - and we all remember what happened at the tribunal. Lyon marked the ball, and whilst everyone else was looking away, went back and slotted it with a torp.. badly needed at the time. Not bad maturity for a 20 year old then in his first final series. Farmer's goal in 1998 , if i remember, was followed after the game by comments from the Melb. players about beating the Richmod netball team.
  12. He carried the Pies when he played there. but... will be remembered as a Swans premiership player. Let's just say he's now joined a class outfit and welcome him into the fold - no more Joffa rubbish to put up with.
  13. Excellent Thread this. I can't agree with Yze. If we are to make top 4 when the going is tough, he must be out. I agree with Bate on the wing: I would love to see him given a few weeks of kicking those 55m drop punts into the forward line, and maybe getting 1 a week out from the 50m line. Miller in for Yze.
  14. You were - great report. There's no such thing as good or bad news. - Just news. It's how you deal with it that counts. I enjoyed the view on Nathan Carroll's approach - one of our top 5 IMO for next year. I think too much is expected of Moloney. As a 22 year old, missing most of a season means serious stuff occurred to him, and he shouldn't be expected to front up straight away next year at the start. Mid-year at best. We want him as a 10 year player, and he needs management with a long term view now. A full pre-season was never going to happen this year. I'll look forward to him carving up the Pies on Queens Birthday.
  15. He was Beama at Geelong .as in Brent Moloney. BM, BMW , beemer etc.
