  1. Do you actually watch the game when you attend? Who hasn't had a shocking season? Davey has carried this team in past years, and has refused to be overawed in many big games, esp. with his defensive pressure. He has one of the strongest pair of hands overhead. After a shocker of a game against the saints in last years finals, he stood up with brilliance in the last 1/4, not kicking the easy goal like some I could name. 2nd in the NAB Rising start in 04. In other words - you have got to be kidding!
  2. Given Sheedy's acknowledged limited time, the smart thing to do will be engage him, with an understudy of either Viney or Williams, with all parties clearly agreeing to, and understanding this approach. . Long term stability is what is now required.
  3. They would have planned the Board meeting discussion several weeks before Pagan jumped. perhaps wanted to signal to Thompson - don't sign on with the cats keep daniher/harvey from freo - or to signal that the bombers were now an option to other candidates. Voss may have been a red herring all along for some. maybe carlton/pagan was coincidental and agood story for them. Just the same, the fact that 3 clubs were still in the market may have been a concern.
  4. A very good point. Just because other teams are now in the market doesn't mean they will make the correct call. Ratten is a classic - way better credentialled than Voss, and the Blues would be nuts not to take him - but i suspect they will go for Voss, thinking money (Pratt's) and reputation will be a quick fix. They have just paid out Pagan's contract, and were played on a break by Pagan financially, and now need quick results. 07 worsfold 06
  5. Its a wonder he hasn't done his back carrying the team for the year. Only lack of exposure will get him in the end against the likes of selwood.
  6. Agreed. But as an understaudy to Sheedy for say 2-3 years, then an agreed handover. I fsheedy comes across, the facts are there needs to be a succession plan, and Viney will be clearly ready by then, and have spent time under a master coach.
  7. Correct. He said he had "received a message" which he would return this week. Bottom line is that if he's interested, and professional, he'll call back. If he's not he won't, and we don't want him.
  8. My only suggestion was that they need to be friends of your partner to give you any chance. I missed the 1985 GF for the same reason. Friends of the wife? - simple, its her duty to explain your absence. You just need to catch the game, and meet at the reception later, if that works. If not, don't worry , you'll either all laugh about it in , say, 15 years, or they may never speak to you agin, in which case who cares anyway.
  9. Talk about stereotyping! Mike Fitzpatrick's an economist, so i guess he know's nothing either! If I told you my accountants surname you'd pretty quickly retract the comment.
  10. Why is this so? My accountant, a huge long-term Bomber member, berates me each year at tax time as says Sheedy was the underachiever of all time who plays favourites constantly and watsed the last 7 seasons at Essendon, constantly playing others out of position. He planned to not renew next year unless Sheedy went. Figure that out.
  11. Poor Robbo, doesnt realize that he is to blame for ND sacking/ leaving Agreed. Comfort zones are a terrible thing.
  12. Never complain, never explain and never resign (Apologies to old Fred Daly) i didnt see that comment so thanks for the post.
  13. I'm getting sick of MFC players going public without engaging their brains first. 1. Robbo goes public and endorses neale after kicking 7 goals agaiinsta the Pies. Great , if he bothered to back it up the next week. remeber the tigers match. Danners goes the week after. 2. Neitz says they are playing for Riley's future. Wrong david, your'e all playing for your own, and Mark Riley undrestands this and doesn't need gratuitous support if its not backed up on the field. You know, the way the Bates , Sylvias, Frawleys and their mates did last week. I'm expecting words of 'wisdom' from Brad Green any day now. Can't wait
  14. I'm getting sick of MFC players going public without engaging their brains first. 1.
  15. I was 'intrigued' to see how such a young Melbourne team managed to get into a winning position, nearly lose it and then move away for a 4 goal victory on Sunday. Given the leadership group was largely off the ground, why was this so, and does it say something about the Bates, Sylvias, Jones etc leadership qualities already showing out? Or was it just luck?
  16. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for leaving the club that I love in a better state than it was when you arrived. It's been my honour to be your fan...
  17. [quote name='belzebub59' date='Jun 29 2007, 11:41 PM' post='85724] as Ive said elsewhere HE COST US THE GAME .. and he bloody well knew it.. never to play in firsts again !!!
  18. Well written Leucopogon. It had to be said and acknowledged. (esp the CC crack) The Board has done what HAD to be done - not what they would have Liked to do. WE are now 6 to 8 weeks ahead of the opposition in sourcing a new coach. Neale Daniher was wonderful to supporters and will get what he deserves - something great.
  19. I'm looking forward to the appointment of a tough coach who understands how leaders are deloped, pro-active on match days and slects only on a players ability to run through a brick wall. IMO, thi shas been a common set of deficiencies from 2000 onwards. With Northey, they were never beaten thill the final siren
  20. Summed up perfectly. What about Watson and St.Kilda Jewell and Richmond Bartlett and Richmond (they just didnt call him back) Jezza and carlton Schimmelbusch and north Blight and North Eade and swans Walls and Carlton the list goes on. Handled with reasonable dignity IMO given the above
  21. Thoroughly agree. (Please ignore any bias due to my Log-on name ) Yes,ND has a clause that he can start talking to other prospective employers on or after 1 August -in 4 weeks time. It was going to happen then or now. An earlier entry talked about the flakiness of the team, unable to grab top 4 etc, from winning positions. Unfortunately this was the main issue with the team over the last 10 years. If the Board didnt finally see this last week then they should have sacked themselves. Looking forward to the developments. Come on back Todd. One premiership in 49 years is not good enough.
  22. Spot on PDP. The watershed time has arived after a roller coaster 10 years ( the period can never be accused of being dull, with more than a few highs.) But, coaching and team leadership (on-field) will now be addressed. Reputations will now finally count for nought. (Note Yze), And we have a good solid young list coming on. Lets get the above key inssues dealt with over the next few months
  23. Did anyone take any notice of the way he stuck the knife into Danihar during the game. I've known for a while he disliked Neale(sportsman night). But the enjoyment he was trying to disguise, in our performance was sickening.
  24. Brad Green said last night on 3AW that Neitz was 100% to NOT play. Newton in?
