  1. How interseting is thsi? Right now, 70 people logged on, 44 on the Juddmania site.
  2. [quote name='grazman' date='Sep 24 2007, 03:12 PM' post='105545] It goes back to them refusing to offer anything substantial for Gehrig... it stalled trade negotiations across the board, in the end Fraser was forced to go to the Saints. Magpies also wanted Chad Morison. Rather than try to do a proper trade with the Eagles, they tried to get him to walk and go into the PSD. There are others, but can't think of them right now.
  3. Exactly Hannabal- but both had nothing of substance to say, just wishful thinking or stating the bleeding obvious about Collingwood's ability to trade several quality young players. Funnily, then they went on later about the difficulty and lack of desire the Eagles had historically in dealing with Collingwood. I wonder if they saw the contradiction.
  4. According to SEN, this morning, the word is: Judd had 'his socks knocked off' by the Melb. presentation, which included Lyon and Stynes. Bailey was hugely impressive as a teacher and methodical thinker re: football Robbo to Bulldogs for their pick 9, which goes onto eagles with pick four, and any other player they want except Mc.Lean (the McLean suggestion bit was Watsons view) Paul gardiner pointed out that over the past ten years the team with the third highest number of finals appearances was - Melbourne Extensive analysis was provided on the impact of injury on the 07 performance - why the season was a disaster. Could be a negotiating tactic by another party, or a leak by Melb?
  5. he did say on footy Classified last monday he'd offer the number 3, "plus his first born" to judd if he thought it would get him, and he was meeting to discuss the matter with the club the next day.
  6. I'll do it for them. It's called reality, and happens every day in business. Riley's position was untenable, and good luck to him for getting a new one at Carlton. The less reliance Bailey has on 'history' the better. He needs a clean sweep to run his own race.
  7. Much appreciated Krazy Jay. I reckon Iv'e learnt more about this bloke than from anywhere else. BTW, i drove past the site of the new facilities this morning and the excavators are working away. It must be true.
  8. very important point. His handling of the interview and media questions yesterday was first class, and i think the media have already warmed to him - meaning they will seek him out as filler stories etc. - good PR. (hangon - isn't that Paul Gardiners forte too?). As an aside, you have to hand it to Gardiner - the media on this was done in the first week of finals - when there will be little other news, giving maximum opportunity for coverage and discussion. Huge potential to replace the Reverend on 'before the Game'
  9. The creme de la creme was the standing ovation Robert Flower received when Northey took him off for a rest with 5 minutes to go in the final quater of the elim final against North. Sheedy and Hird - you ain't seen nothing. As you would know RR, the mighty Russell Richards came on in his place, immediately going for run with the ball through the centre.
  10. [quote name='bobby mckenzie' date='Sep 1 2007, 12:22 PM' post='99824] Just like to correct you on the game Jack. I was watching it on TV and there was an almighty roar from the crowd when people listening on their trannies spread the word that Hawthorn had beaten Geelong. We were in front at that stage and it was then just a matter of staying there which we did. Ironically, it was the Hawks who got us into the finals but sadly, it was them who kicked us out in the prelim. Regards mate.
  11. Having just read the match reports from yesterday, I now pronounce the team to be a collective 'head case'. Dean Bailey, and good luck to him btw, has inherited a soft team that can kick 7 goals in an opening quarter when nothing hangs on it. Conversely, last year, and at least two other recent years, top 4 spots were surrendered without firing a shot. I am disgusted with this season. Mad monday - your'e joking. It should be the last for a few wearing the red and blue, and not just the retirees .
  12. Then why did Connelly delay his flight back to Perth by a day till later tomorrow?
  13. Install Chris Connolly as the Football Manager - Knows the football business, is a MFC man, and a good media performer, and from all reports gets along very well with the playing group then Give Bailey an assistant's role under Sheedy (have worked together before) and in the 3 years Sheedy is head coach, Bailey still gets an input into the list, playing style ect that he can take over from when Sheedy is ready to go! or to good to be true?
  14. Well done for the comment on the fact that privacy seems to have been maintained. I agree on denham - he generally repeats the last thing he heard somewhere on SEN. If Bailey is appointed people should wait and judge. When Clarkson was appointed there was general uproar, esp. from the likes of staunch hawks in the media, eg 'Quaters', who know nothing. At the end of Clarkson's first year at the Hawks, not a huge success, I walked past him on a beach in Qld during Grand Final week - he was minding his young children and reading a book on coaching. My impression- this guy's committed. Now he's got them top 4 and cruising . If it's an unknown, .lets trust the process. G.Lyon won't sign off on a dud IMO. I'd be happy with another smart coach like Clarkson. Hang on, didn't he employ Hardwick?
  15. What is it with the Sheedy excitment. His win / loss ratio over the past 5 years is well under 50%, and that is with a team that contained some serious class. Is it me or would this be a backward step. Hardwicke's the man.
  16. I don't see why this is a financial issue for the club. If people are chosing to leave , esp. after such short times, their accrued leave etc should be minimal, and surley they don't have an employment contract to pay out. If you walk out on a contract you don't get paid. Just ask Denis Pagan how it works. If they are contracted , and then made redundant, for whatever reason, then another matter, and a real worry if this is the case. I can't believe it is. The reason for the turnover should be of more concer.
  17. [quote name='deanox' date='Aug 23 2007, 05:01 PM' post='97569] well 20 years on and our supposed 'legacy' is still half arsed cos they didnt pick this one up...
  18. herein lies the question regarding Sheedy. At a success rate of 40% over the last 5 years, with an out and out champion in Hird carrying the team ( even this year he has won them 3 games on his own), what does this really mean about Sheedy's ability with, dare I say it, an ordinary team. I'm not convinced he's the answer .
  19. I agree. it's a wonder he hasn't done his back carrying the midfield with JMcD this year.
  20. Are you kidding? That's like saying I can't see gravity, therefore it doesn't exist. Oxygen can't possibly exist, - I can't see it. Farmer by himself out on the HFF? What happened - did he punch himself ? I don't think so...... Much credit to the tribunal in this case for having the guts to override the video generation. BTW - as an aside, if it wasn't for the hit in 1988 by Rod Grinter on terry wallace - maybe we wouldn't have trial by video. One claim to fame by the Demons. Well done Rod. Look what you started.
  21. Yes, and further, he actually only got 4 weeks for the hit on probably Fremantle's only probable match-winner . The rest was for prior history - this guy's a recidivist. In the end, he undisputedly collected farmer in some fashion, and given the damage done, and being way off the ball, was clearly guilty (i don't accept the seagull theory). Reckless, not in play and high contact - 4 weeks. No-one saw Jim O'Dea hit John Greening, but he still got 10 weeks in the pre-video era.
  22. Its an employment contract. If he walks, and is allowed to under the terms, he gets nothing.
