  1. TV already making excuses for the Lions tackle on brown. disappointing to see.
  2. it is great to see us getting reward for our forward 50 attacks. Great goal kicking. Keep it going Dees.
  3. we want second spot so if we play the Swans its in Melbourne, though if we play like we are now we can play there anywhere and win.
  4. we need to make this side better not just continue to play players who are not doing enough constantly, small forwards are there to put pressure on but also to kick or help in kicking goals. we are not seeing enough of that from our smalls. for the sheer number of forward entries that bounce back shows we have problems. we need to face that is a major issue that needs to be addressed, doing nothing about it will only result in in continuing to happen. Brown was pretty good he constantly had 3 or more players on his back. and frankly should have bad a couple of frees for push in the back Max did an massive job last night. they kick it long to him all night and he kept grabbing them under enormous pressure. i do wish we had another kick out plan rather than going down the left side all the time. The blues did a couple of nice moves with open players down the middle that moved the ball on quickly. or even have a fast player run out to the right side, lets try not to be so predictable. with the field so open on the right you would think that a fast player kicking out could run a fair way down the right hand side before kicking the ball. Lastly we have a few players who just hold the ball up and stop the flow, in fact their holding the ball up actually allows the opposition to reset. The need to get the message to move the ball on, doing so would both help the team and make their game play more effective.
  5. i would like to see some changes to the side to bring in new players, we have had a lot of losses in the last couple of months and we keep swapping in and out the same players and keep getting the same results. yes we won today, but we need to improve that means giving those who are showing good form a chance to replace those that arent playing well. give them a chance to get some form back in the VFL rather than hoping they turn it on. We are down to the last game and finals, we need our best players in the side based on form, not just rotating the same players in and out.
  6. So if this was a match early in the year would they have over turned the suspension, i think not. While it was stated that Cripps was going for the mark, i personally did not see his arms out looking to grab the ball as we often see true marking collisions. Cripps turned and led with his shoulder. So is the AFL now saying if you turn your shoulder at the last minute and knock the crap out of someone that is ok, no consequences for hurting someone. How many others will use the Cripps defense going forward. He took an opposition player out of the game leaving them one man short and receiving no penalty. At what point in time do we see some mongrel deliberately take out an opposition player and plead that they were only protecting themselves. I would prefer melbourne to play and beat Carlton with Cripps playing as they may get complacent if he was not. But its the AFL's attitude and double standards that pisses me off.
  7. jackson wants to go to freo, how about we try to get brayshaw from Freo
  8. i think that while we lost for a number of reasons, at the end of the day I think we played better, we had far more forward entries, had a lot more shots at goal, more possessions, and unfortunately the wrong side of the umpire at times when it counted. So I dont think it is quite that bad. Yes we need to make some changes but a lot of those changes are probably mental, they are our disposal efficiency, our looking for players to give the ball to instead of kicking it long into the goal square. When we move the ball fast we get goals, when we take too long to move it into our forward line, our forwards rarely mark the ball and our smalls while they do get some goals dont get enough. sparrow, jordan and ANB (when he gets the ball) often are too slow to move it on, instead of taking short passes and moving the ball they hold it up and kick down the line. Lot at the stats on how many times a game we go forward into our 50 a game for the percentage of goals, or even scores we get. That needs to change, while we may be getting reasonable service from some of our smalls, and mids, probably not enough to warrant their place in the side.
  9. we did it to ourselves, langdons comments did certainly help Gee up the pies, they went in hard especially on langdon. I think Langdon's words reflected the thoughts of other players who thought they have this, when they dont. Our record against collingwood even when playing at our best is extremely poor, so there is no way we should be making comments on how bad they are. Our kicking and handball efficiency was certainly not as good and our kicking for goal was far worse. We had 3 or 4 very gettable shots from some of our best players miss. I dont know if it was nerves or over confidence. No offence but no players should be smiling after shooting for goal and kicking a point, they should be angry and disappointed in their effort.
  10. the crowds behind them, the umpires with with them the commentators go along for the ride. Not too many complaints from them on the umpiring, even though they are watching the same games as us.
  11. we need to swap out some players and try some new players, i thought brown was pretty good tonight some of our other forwards could have a rest. we need to not continue to rotate the same players in and out when they are not playing well.we need to try something different.
  12. What i would like to see is our forwards actually work together when someone is kicking the ball into the forward 50 we have 3 or 4 players who can mark who all should be leading in different directions instead of all standing still. other players should be helping to run interference or clear areas so that our forwards have space to run into, or they drag their players away from the contest to give our forwards a better chance of marking. instead we kick it deep into a forward pocket, i still dont understand why you dont go to the front of the goal square or have players leading up. need to work together to give the kicker options to go to. We have a massive number of inside 50's but our crumbing forwards did bugger all, one goal was the best we got out of any of them, which is not great considering the number chances they had.
  13. I dont disagree that they should have been paid, but it would have been nice if the same rules where applied all over the ground to both sides, if they had then i doubt we would have lost, because they held the ball, dropped the ball, threw the ball, dragged the ball in endless times and were not called. so yes i agree Elliotts frees were there but so were so many others
  14. Agreed, the ball went over the back of the pack to 2 or 3 collingwood players, all of our players were either going for the mark or sitting in front watching the pies run away with it. We need to do something about how clubs switch on us. All night long they switched down the same wing and we failed to cover giving them easy access to their forward 50. we need to work on how we lock down so that we dont allow that easy switch.
  15. Elliot and Johnson kicked 8 of their goals, that is where we lost it. Elliot seemed to get a free kick everytime he tackled a player and stripped them of the ball, a different umpire and that would be a different situation. That is where the main difference was. we had a more even goal kicking performance with no one standing up and kicking a bag full. let collingwood get ahead of themselves. the more there winning streak goes for the greater the chance of it coming to an end. We were not disgraced, we did not do as well as we should/could have but thats football, hopefully next time we play them in the finals, their big head will get the best of them and we will overrun them. hopefully we learn from todays loss, as it seems to resemble quite a few of our other loses this year.
  16. Collingwood tackled with venom and intent our players did not. They played well for 3quarters but ran out of gas, very different from last year when were running over clubs in the second half. our defence was possible had the worst game of the year, so many goals from so few entries. a shame about the dropping or holding the ball rules, and possibly even throwing the ball not being applied consistently, but we had the chances too many simple shots at goal early on cost us the game.
  17. we should not be relying on free kick to win this, we need to rely on our field kicking, our kicking is pretty poor. The team is putting in the hard yards around the ground but then turning it over. we need to stop that switch, quite a few times they switch to langdons wing they get a kick at goal. Where are out players on that side of the ground where is their accountability. We need to strong last quarter to show then who is the better team. we have a few players who are down who need to lift, ANB is certainly one.
  18. need to cover the switches, that is what killed us last time we played, we are still playing better than them, and agreed we should be a few more goals ahead as we have had a few easy misses. Need to keep going, need to improve our accuracy going forward. some of those long shots probably should have had a player or two provide a lead as an alternative. hopefully the 3rd will be our best quarter again so that we can draw well clear of them. It is interesting that Cox was called for sticking his knee into gawn and a few bounces later did the same thing. this is a blatent free kneeing a player who is going for the ball.
  19. a great game they are playing well, we are playing better. lets just keep it that way, two of the easiest shots for goal missed, but we are still ahead and need to keep building on that lead. the pies are going very hard at our players trying to bury them i hope the umpires are keeping an eye on that.
  20. I agree with JVR and Chandler coming in. Give Ben a run with Casey to get a bit of form we want him cherry ripe for the finals, he is under too much pressure playing with the dees to find that form. Casey should give him sufficient opportunity to run into some form the way they have been playing. JVR seems to have been doing well so deserves Weids spot. I dont think we should be writing Weids off yet, he has the potential he just has not been able to pull it together, back to casey for him, maybe put on a bit more weight and mass over the summer for next season. Tonight he was manhandled all night long, he needs to be able to fight that. I would also put Chandler in for ANB, While ABS tackling at times was good there was not a lot more to his game, given he had a fair bit of latitude to roam all over the forward line and still could not pick up too many possessions. He was not clean with the ball and got run down from behind a couple of times. Again give him time with Casey to get himself right. Chandler needs a chance to step up and fill the gap and possibly claim a finals spot if he is good enough. He knows how to kick goals so would be a handy addition to have.
  21. A great team effort, selfless passing to players in a better position kicking for goal was great to see. I would like to see some of our players move the ball on a bit quicker. A few mark and then hold things up and allow the opposition to get into position. We play our best when we are running, and kicking long.
  22. max is usually far better on the opposite side of the field kicking for goal, so that when he runs around he opens the angle, he ran around with his usual routine and closed down the angle. still it is wet Brayshaw has been fantastic tonight, weids has a goal hopefully he can add to that in the last and help us extend the lead further.
  23. well played dees. go again and finish them off
  24. hopefully chandler is the medical sub, we need someone who can kick goals available if things are not going well with our small forwards
  25. I would love to see chandler get a game or two, we risk losing him if we cannot play him especially when he is in better form that some of the players who are playing now. i think we could have rested spargo or ANB to give him a chance.
