  1. Got nothing on Weid unfortunately. i'll ask and see if i can dig up anything but it's all quiet, which makes sense, his value has the potential to sky rocket this season. I do see where the club is coming from though in wanting to see him play well consistently for a block of games before bringing him in, but also get why he'd be getting a bit frustrated. I'd be pretty shocked if he's not in the team in the next couple of weeks, and then signs on at some stage.
  2. \ 100% with you Dazzle, i'm eating Humble pie for calling for Goodwin to be replaced, the players very clearly believe in him, and he's got these genuine guns of the comp to take less money and commit long term. and if the reports are true he's got us firmly in the mix for Z. Merrett as well. Just an FYI, the same person who told me Trac was in talks for an extension (admittedly he got the period wrong) did also say Luke Jackson will be signing on as well until the end of 2024. so fingers crossed for that one.
  3. He will, it's all about building consistency, from what i've heard, he's very clear on that too, the club wants a block of consistent form of 4-5 weeks of him just dominating, the form of Tom McDonald has been a bit of a curve ball but Weid is too good to stay out for long.
  4. Be a very silly time to jump off the Dees Bandwagon i reckon. he might watch a few of his mates winning medals while he is going through a rebuild haha
  5. We won't let Weid go, i'm sure he's frustrated, but i would be very shocked if he wasn't very firmly in our long term plans also wtf would anyone want to go to Collingwood?
  6. I agree, but i think for me to have someone like Trac decide at 25 or whatever he is that he wants to be a Demon for life, it'll be incredible for the club. says a lot about Goody too, i've not rated him much, but if Trac is signing a deal like that, he clearly does, and he'd know a bit more
  7. Outside of Paul Roos, it's hard to think o a more significant re-signing or signing for this club in the last i don't even know how long. i'm speechless.
  8. I knew, and posted a while back? or at least mentioned to @A F that Trac was chatting to the club about an extension, but i had no idea it was of this size/scope. i thought it was 2 more years on top of next year. this is incredible, what a show of faith by Trac

One week at a time. beat the Swans this weekend and then we can re-assess and decide to just worry about the next week
  10. Yes sorry i realised this after, i had mixed him up with someone else.
  11. I have flip flopped on this a bit but i think McDonald needs to stay forward because he's so different to Weid/Brown in terms of his endurance running, if he gets 20 every week and kicks his 2-3 goals, keeps leading up the ground and providing an option, happy for him to stay at CHF all year. In terms of Brown, he was a bit rusty, he'll get a few weeks to ease into it and if he doesn't, Weid will take his spot. i don't think they can both play.
  12. an experienced Key back would be a good target i think rather than a younger one.
  13. It really does show the MRO needs a significant overhaul that two so similar actions can result in totally different punishments, with the only distinction seemingly being the profile of the player in question.
  14. I'm certainly not the legal mind of some other demonlanders but think the case for this being reduced to a fine is strong. 1. the action was classified as reckless, it wasn't, he was clearly protecting his hand, 2. the North player while shocked at the time was fine, and able to continue 3. other players have done similar or worse actions and avoided suspension. so i think personally it's incidental contact due to protecting his hand, low impact and Fritsch with a good record over a few seasons should get away with a fine.
  15. No way. our midfield depth is fine. taking into account injuries our likely midfield rotations for this week would be Oliver, Petracca, Jordan, Jones, Brayshaw, Langdon, Salem, Kozzie, and then the two rucks.
  16. I think we should 100% appeal this one, it's very obvious he was protecting his hand, he's got a great record and a suspension is not at all appropriate in this case.
  17. The thing about Tmac on the wing that i really like is it will give him the capacity to run back and help the backline, which is something Gus has been doing, just Tmac would obviously be much more impactful in the air in that regard, and i'd say we're not losing a whole lot running wise, just potentially a bit of a dip in skills.
  18. I agree, if the ball is marked, or likely would have been and then an action consistent with a free kick (High contact) is committed then it should be instantly 50.
  19. This is a really interesting point and something i hope the umpires start calling. against Richmond Lynch and Reiwoldt were taking every opportunity to make Gawn "Earn it" when he dropped in the hole, with a deliberate punch to the head.
  20. The Swans also well and truely have the quality to match us in the middle. we need Gawn and Jackson to run Hickey off his feet. i'd almost favor Gawn working on getting back and helping the defence as much as possible rather than getting forward. Rampe is a good player but with Fritsch out i'm not sure we have a great match up for him, he probably doesn't have the height for Brown or McDonald, or the wheels for Kozzie.
  21. Given no Viney i'd be keen to see the inside midfield minutes split between Jones and Jordan (Nathan Jones staying in) and Brayshaw staying on the wing. with Fritsch out i'd probably err towards replacing him with a small, given we've already got McDonald, Jackson, Brown. so Chandler, Sparrow, Harmes or Bedford to play a forward role. for me the replacement for Tommlinson can only be Petty or Weideman, and the only way Weideman can come in, is if McDonald goes back.
  22. Completely agree, and if Brown isn't in the side i don't think Fritsch kicks six. it's the flow on impact that we will really see. Tom McDonald, Jackson, Fritsch and so on getting lesser match ups because teams are worried about Ben Brown. if he manages to kick a couple of goals and allows others to play well, brings it to ground he's had a good day. i don't recall him getting outmarked at all which is a good measure of a key forward in my opinion. In terms of the midfield, i think Gus is playing well on the wing, and wouldn't mind seeing James Jordan backed in with some more time in there due to Vineys absence. he's got a beautiful blend of inside and outside and a great work rate. really rate him

Getting way ahead of yourself. rapt to have Rivers at the Dees but Hayden Young is going to be an absolute jet.
  24. In terms of key backs i reckon we're okay. we've got Petty, and worst case Tommy mac. we could use another inside mid to add depth if JV's injury is worse than first thought, and Nathan Freeman has definite quality, former top 10 draft pick who's finally got his body right. could not only add depth now but potential upside long term. Maybe we could get on the phone to a recently retired key back and see if we could start them training right away, wonder if Harry Taylor or someone like that might wanna have one last crack at a flag?
  25. Today or tomorrow, but as others have mentioned, ACL's can be diagnosed by some basic tests at the time fairly accurately, the moment a club says "suspected AFL" it'd be a miracle if it was something else.
