  1. Round 23 in particular, a good win would give us some momentum to attack the pre season with.
  2. Ross lyon said the same thing, but i had heard the players were all but told Lyon would be coaching them.. strange
  3. No, i choose to believe it's confidence playing a part rather than someone waving a magic wand and making undeniable talent disappear
  4. I actually tipped Freo to play in the Grand final this year, they look capable even without a bunch of stars.
  5. we have alot of weeding to do in that case, we lost to gold coast by 10 goals because our effort wasn't AFL standard, i'd say that's something the coaches and admin would be talking about quite abit
  6. My biggest issue is that team rule #1 should be give 110% effort at all times while representing MFC, when this fundamental is lacking you know there are serious issues, i would consider the constant negative press to be a very big distraction but lacking effort does not help anything.
  7. I am actually warming to the idea of Rocket coaching us, when he was coach of the bulldogs they had a real focus on speed and skill which i think would suit our forward structure perfectly, and he squeezed every drop of ability out of his players, they were a very good team in the company of Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn, Stkilda all at the height of their power at the top.
  8. If Richmond had have kicked straight we might have lost by 10 goals anyway, the biggest issue we have is we get belted in inside 50's, possessions and stoppage clearances, we actually matched them for centre clearances which surprised me. lots of turnovers between half back and half forward that is quite literally costing us games, no composure with the ball, being more worried about tackling as opposed to being first to the ball and making them chase and tackle.
  9. I have heard alot of people say that it's either Collingwood or Carlton for daisy in 2014 doesn't mean we shouldn't enquire but need to have realistic expectations.
  10. Our tall back stocks are pretty good for once Frawley Sellar Mcdonald Gillies Davis Pederson Garland Watts
  11. I think Tapscott provides a perceived pressure which is good, he hits bodies very hard which is fantastic to see, i thought Toumpas didn't get the ball much but looked composed and classy when he had it which is a welcome change, and Jetta adds abit of zip, certainly better than Nicholson but output isn't quite as high as i would have hoped, granted it was his first game for a while
  12. I think Neeld and Macca would be too worrried about keeping their jobs if they're still at the helm by then, that might save them
  13. See it's hard to judge guys like this, his talk, direction and even his presence alone might have a strong effect on the team, for me he needs to play more in the middle though.
  14. the effort was certainly better, i think an understanding of what the gameplan is might be an issue too, it's alot easier to run hard when you know where you're supposed to be running too, i remember us switching the ball at one point and only dawes was awake to it.
  15. IMO we can't retain possession because we don't work nearly hard enough, when we ( very rarely ) play at our best, we chase, tackle harass and make things very uncomfortable for the other team, i don't think we have done that for even a quarter so far this year.
  16. I don't think many clubs have allowed themselves to fall so far behind, it would be an interesting one to find out.
  17. well we did win 7 games at that stage, had an easy draw coming up and were playing well, 186 was one game but there was a whole season around that. we have won what 7 games total since Neeld took over inc Nab cub? and maybe 1 or 2 against non expansion teams..
  18. I wonder if all of these stress injuries are a result of trying to bring us up to AFL standard in terms of fitness?
  19. Mate, Ollie is good there is no question but i am pretty confident the ceiling for jack and jimmy is much higher, those two will be guns, ollie might only ever be what he is now, a solid hard at it mid
  20. My point being we have fallen so far where we can't even count on the players putting in effort, Bailey had us in the hunt for finals when he got sacked so how has Neeld managed to hang on this long?
  21. I honestly think our imagine would change a heap just by one of those two saying " the list is not as bad as people might think"
  22. This is absolutely right, Primus was a dud, Neeld is a dud... Hinkley comes in and after one pre season they look like a Top 8 team, maybe our list isn't as good as theirs in some area's but is it really so far behind that we can't compete at AFL level? keeping in mind they couldn't last year.
  23. we have gone backwards so fast it's scary, we move on Rivers, Green and Moloney and our biggest issue is we have no on field experience... i mean come on! if we had even one of those three now we would be significantly better off.
  24. A 6 goal loss is considered a positive because we at least showed effort, surely Craig, Viney or Rawlings couldn't do any worse? Neeld would be at very long odds to survive mid year let alone long term.
  25. Freo is going to arguable put more pressure on us in this area then we have seen this year, some good disposal won't hurt us, but i think we need to throw him to CHF and try and win the game.
