Colin Garland is the best player at Melboune Football Club
Ted Lasso replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
before this season i didnt rate him at all, glad he has proved me totally wrong -
garland would be all australian if he played for a stronger side, really emerging as one of the comps best medium defenders
-
pretty handy core group right there

Time to offer Jack Watts a 3 year contract @ $525 per year
Ted Lasso replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
one would hope watts would become a better player than dawes fairly quickly with a good coach and a constant run up forward, maybe throwing big dollars at stokes would make it a very complete forward line assuming Byrnes and Rodan aren't around next year? -
From what I have seen and read I think we will be coached by Roos next year, having said that I would prefer Williams if Roos isn't passionate about taking on the challenge, either way it's great to see Jackson being honest and assessing our need for an experienced coach, the wheel might finally be turning for us.

Young midfielders/small forwards not getting game time
Ted Lasso replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Might be worth a look, god knows we need guys who can get the footy and probably wouldn't have to give up much or anything for him. -

At one point North really rated Anthony didn't they? what happened there? -
Aaron davey has mick Malthouse as a mentor i know that for a fact and i know alot of other players go outside the club, i think that's just a personal choice and not really a reflection on the club, i however would be upset if watts walked, we have been pretty loyal to the bloke in terms of defending him when his form hasn't stacked up, i think most of it is just dependant on how each person perceives certain actions towards jack from the club.
-
Our composure with the ball has been a worry and freo are going to put the heat on probably more so than the teams we have played so far, if our work rate isn't what it was against the tigers at least we could get blown away.
-
I think this has to do with training, every training session they only seem to be doing tackling stuff at 60-70% effort, they need to go flat out and get the technique right, our attempted tackles stacks up but the ones that stick are ranked last go flat out at training and get this right and we will improve considerably.
-
i think most would just say they are sick of losing unfortunately, playing for us would be abit like standing against a wall and letting everyone throw eggs at them for a moment.
-
I know we are pretty stocked in this area but would we consider Thomas Boyd? gee he looks impressive, Billings also just to me stands out from the pack
-
Right this second i'd say Chippa is probably on a par with jonesy as our most important players, he is a must keep from what everyone is saying the other two will take some convincing, Col has every right to use free agency and chase money or a flag i really hope we can keep watts, i think he will be a good 250 game player, hopefully we can sell him a vision of the future.
-
With some people that's fine, what i am saying is we are a genuine mess right now and we need to bring people to the club who have the character to guide us out of it, no use fighting tooth and nail for blokes who have no interest in being here, look at a Nathan jones, doesn't lack confidence or character.
-
Yeah i agree, who else is out of contract, terlich, matt jones, Gawn? we gave the first two their crack at AFL and Gawn we have been loyal and paitent with, reckon Col might chase a flag and that's probably fair enough but i reckon we will manage to hang on to the other two
-
I think you're dead right mate, Terlich has no issue with skills from what i have seen, he makes the odd bad decision but i think that's more to do with having one or two bad options ahead of him and nothing else.
-
It's a measure of character, let's be honest we don't want blokes who are going to have a sook and jump ship because it's too hard, we want blokes like Grimes, Jones, Trengove and viney who are going to work hard and have a genuine crack at turning things around.
-
We have three players who would all be in our best 10 players without a doubt, all could become significantly better than what they are, Frawley has been a much better player than he is so we need to sell these three guys a vision of a better future or we will lose them and noone could blame them for walking in this situation, i think we should move Neeld on, get craig or viney taking over and start a campaign to sign a big name coach, waiting is weighing the risk of a player walkout against the risk of not gaining anything from games we may gain nothing from anyway.
-
if we get a priority, do we dangle one pick and give teams like Carlton and the crows a sniff of boyd? i personally can't see the harm if we were to get a really good offer for one of the picks
-
Carlton and Freo are certainly keen from what i have heard, not sure who the other six would be, North were in the mix last year weren't they?
-
Thanks for this mate, how was Toumpas?
-
I reckon more than 50% of players would show a similar stat to that though, i think watts will be a good player, for me it's keep chippa at all costs, watts second priority sylvia third, if we can keep 2 of those three that's acceptable but it will be an up hill battle.

the publics opinion seems to be more sympathetic lately
