  1. I’ll try to find a link for you. The opening line says something like “Caro slams the Melbourne football club for its disgraceful treatment of Simon Goodwin”
  2. Or implying we should have hid the decision for 3 additional weeks. A decision she would have rightly slammed us for. Or moved our timeline to the end of the season where we might have been criticised for not acting decisively and potentially missing out on key targets. When someone is determined to slam a club, they’ll find an excuse to do it. That’s not the issue here. The MFC hasn’t been perfect by any means, but while I don’t think we should listen to all criticism from the media, if we do listen we should at least be able to judge if it’s fair criticism or not.
  3. no, I think it’s more likely she would have had a crack at Melbourne regardless and I am pointing out our handling of this has been largely hard to fault. We made a decision, informed goody right away and some of the criticisms she’s levelling are things Goodwin himself has been offered the opportunity to do and declined. There is a whole lot of negativity in the media, and especially from Caro at the moment and really I was trying to defend the clubs handling of this.
  4. Caro has given us another almighty whack that seemingly has no basis in reality. she stated Goodwin should have stayed for the final 3 games, and been sacked at the end of the year. My info is he was offered that and declined. We told him as soon as the decision was made respectfully and we celebrated his time as coach and spoke glowingly of him. she said he should have been at the BNF. Again my info is he was invited to come and very welcome but he respectfully declined. now I’m just a random person and I could figure this out, so either Caro has really average sources on this, she hasn’t done enough research or she’s running on bias and telling a fib. I don’t really know what it is, but the idea Melbourne haven’t handled this respectfully if Goodwin is a bit of a joke in my opinion. My only criticism is I wouldn’t have sacked him and paid him not to coach unless we had someone we saw as an upgrade ready to step in. If John Longmire was keen to join the club for example.
  5. Especially the claim he wants to continue to develop but has consistently put himself forward for roles before this one that are far less attractive. He didn’t want to get turned down.
  6. Yup. Bruce, Daly and skipworth not going through the process plus WE told Chaplin not to. You don’t generally see high quality candidates who want a role not apply or be told not to apply unless there is a reason. As dazzle said skipworth would be connected to people at Collingwood who know bucks and I’d bet my left arm someone has tapped him on the shoulder and said you’re wasting your time bucks has decided he wants it
  7. Fortunately like bowza you have a very cute dog to make up for it!
  8. Almost makes up for being a 5 foot nothing red head. Talk about winning the genetic lottery
  9. I don’t want to speak for @dazzledavey36 but I suspect his very accurate point is, if they’ve decided, or they’re pretty sure. Just call it and let’s move on. All signs are pointing one direction.
  10. Imagine if trac won? Upset of the decade
  11. This Nathan Buckley prank is getting wild. guys spent days preparing, reached out and commenced putting together a team, multiple leading candidates have quit or declined the process because they think he has the job and jokes on Melbourne, he doesn’t even want it because Caro has convinced him to wait for Tassie classic Buckley pranks
  12. Geez this is embarrassing for the club. I’d expect resignations tomorrow morning.
  13. Exactly. You would be pretty confident all of Hinkley, Simpson, Longmire and Goodwin are going to be right at the top of everyone’s wish list moving forward including Tasmania
  14. Hopefully Nathan Buckley Brendan lade maybe best of the rest?
  15. only reason for skipworth to pull out is he doesn’t think he can get the job. Last year he was ready to move across the country to coach a far worse team that’s now applying for priority picks and just won 1 game and lost their captain
  16. Wouldn’t be the first time a player has leveraged outside interest to get their current club to offer a better deal. Fair play if that’s what he’s doing
  17. I think we’d be being irresponsible to do anything other than leave open as much flexibility as we reasonably can in the FD for the new coach to build the team they want
  18. I reckon he’s a high half forward. Quick, powerful, unreal in the air. If he rotates between there and the wing he has the potential to be a mason wood type headache for opposition given virtually all of his opponents are going to be a mismatch either in the air or on the ground.
  19. I reckon id be clearing out too if I had Tom morris and Sam McClure waiting outside with cameras, maybe Caro was sitting there too wearing a Tassie beanie
  20. New sponsor incoming? #conspiracy
  21. Maybe he can thank Caroline Wilson for the recommendation to go to tassie when he’s holding up a cup for Melbourne and tassie are last?
  22. The old classic, do a 90 minute interview with days of prep leading in for a job you don’t even want trick. Ah Nathan Buckley and his classic pranks.
  23. I would also be curious about Riley bonner for a rookie spot potentially, especially if Marty hore retires. He’d provide solid cover and depth and definitely makes Casey better
  24. If we are going to keep an older guy for depth I’d probably rather billing’s for 1 more than Henderson. Billing’s was pretty dominant for Casey at times and has played some okay footy at AFL level
