It's been very widely reported Saty, I know you're allergic to anything negative being said about the club, but even you have to admit this has been a mess.
-
I held the view that the moment Pert started calling clubs directly to shop Oliver following Goody and Gawn speaking about how they love him and back him, a divide was created that could only end with one of Pert or Goodwin leaving the club.

I would say all 5 players in question are potential stars, as are basically the first 20-25 of this draft, so really the pressure is on either way because we will have 2-3 cracks at this draft and if we get it right we go a long way to building our next premiership, if we get it wrong it'll be richard tambling level
-
I don't hate the idea of 5 for 10/11 i'd be reluctant to give up access to Jagga Smith or Harvey Langford, but a total package of say Travaglia, Lindsay and Reid would be pretty tempting

My revised top 15 1. Sam Lalor (Richmond) 2. Levi Ashcroft (Brisbane) 3. Alix Tauru (Norf) 4. Finn O'Sullivan (Blues) 5. Sid Draper (Crom) 6. Jagga Smith (Melbourne) 7. Harvey Langford (Richmond) 8. Josh Smillie (St Kilda) 9. Harry Armstrong (St Kilda 10. Leo Lombard (Suns) 11. Issac Kako (Dons) 12. Murphy Reid (Melbourne) 13. Tobie Travaglia (Richmond) 14. Xavier Lindsay (Richmond) 15. Bo Allen (West Coast)

The comparison between Langford and Matt Crouch isn't accurate, Langford is already a more damaging player than Crouch is, and he can play forward.
-
I think he's going to St Kilda at pick 7 or 8 to be honest. If i was to guess, pick 9 we will be choosing between Lindsay, Reid and Trainor
-
There has never been more pressure on a club for the number 1 pick in a draft. While i know some of them have not been the players the clubs would hope, i don't remember a year where there are potentially up to 9 genuine options for that selection and Richmond get the fun role of doing what noone in the media has been able to do and it's picking 1 out as the best of the bunch. one argument which is the Jagga smith arguement, is that you get as close to a safe/sure thing with that pick, the opposite end is you go highest upside which is probably someone like Tauru or Lalor. My gut feel is they'll go in between and take FOS but i am very very happy to not have to make the call. we're in a nice position of getting the best prospect that slips through and the decision is effectively made for us. the top 6-7 i think will ultimately all be really good players, i don't really see any of them being busts.
-
I like this idea, i feel though that we will probably get a similar talent at 5 compared to 2. 3 bites of the cherry in 5, 15, 16 could net us a package like, Langford/Smith plus 2 of Lindsay/Hynes/Shanahan/Hotton

The game day strategy coach role isn't new in terms of the MFC, that's effectively what Yze and McQualter have done, but they've also taken on the mids and perhaps they feel that's too big a role for one person? that would seem to make sense. My concern is when you're looking at bringing in 2-3 people into the FD we're a little bit late and a lot of the highly credentialed assistants have proabably already worked out what they're doing
-
God i miss Nathan Carrol I assume this is Nathan Jones? that leaves us with one more vacancy doesn't it? assuming no significant re-structuring as a result of the reviews i'd guess that would be Bassett?
-
I wouldn't be upset if we picked him, but i think pick 5 will be a gun mid, and pick 9 will be the best available talent regardless of position, and if it's a tossup we'll probably take another mid

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Ted Lasso replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sid Draper is very much in the Zak Butters style as well in my opinion -
I think if anyone in this draft potentially presents as a Jimmy Toumpas in my mind it's Murphy Reid. Lindsay is a very very underrated contested ball winner which only compliments him being one of the most damaging outside players in the draft. I am honestly very surprised he's not in serious consideration for the top 5 selections.
-
The thing i was really surprised with about Lindsay is i kinda wrongly categorized him as a bit of a soft outside player, but he can definitely win his own ball, i feel it's an incredibly underrated part of his game, his outside weapons are just so good people don't seem to notice his ball winning. I am not sure what others see with Langford, but a mate of mine called him "Left footed David Mundy" and i've really been seeing that, he's got the height, a real weapon up forward and such a good ball winner who can get on the outside and be really dangerous
-
i'm more and more feeling like it'll be Langford and Lindsay joining the Dees

Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford
Ted Lasso replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would guess we'd start Langford as a half forward with bursts in the middle and let him build his tank over 2-3 years sort of how we did with Trac early on? -
Langford and Lindsay fill these requests and SHOULD be available at both our picks. both beautiful left foot kicks. I love the fact Langford can contribute goals and be a good target forward with bursts through the middle early in his career, it just adds to the appeal given we also need help forward. I really like Lindsay, he just oozes class and it's something we just haven't really had
-
My rough guess which will probably be different by tomorrow is. 1. Sam Lalor (Richmond) 2. Levi Ashcroft (Brisbane) 3. Alix Tauru (North Melbourne) 4. Finn O'Sullivan (Carlton) 5. Sid Draper (Adelaide) 6. Jagga Smith (Melbourne) 7. Leo Lombard (Gold Coast) 8. Harvey Langford (Richmond) 9. Josh Smillie (St Kilda) 10. Harry Armstrong (St Kilda) 11. Murphy Reid (Melbourne) 12. Issac Kako (Essendon) 13. Jobe Shanahan (Richmond) 14. Luke Trainor (Richmond) 15. Bo Allen (West Coast)

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Ted Lasso replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I probably still take Langford over Smillie, but i definitely see the appeal. He's definitely one that makes us better in 2025 and would have to be a favourite for the rising star next year given how ready to go he is. -
2024 Player Reviews: #21 Matthew Jefferson
Ted Lasso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Surely lets just send Petty back and back in Van Rooyen, Turner and Jefferson in the front half. -
If he was from Vic i'd tip him to go pick 1. kid is a freak
-
I am amazed Langford isn't more linked to pick 1, given he's a bigger body mid who can go forward and grew up a mad Tigers fan.
-
Who would you take between Lalor and Langford? I've liked Langford for a long time personally, but it's really hard to not be excited by just about all of these guys. I also love Draper and feel he'd be a great fit but would be shocked if the Crows didn't snap him up.
