Damien Barrett reporting that the Tigers are asking for Josh Caddy in a swap for Brett Deledio, must say i don't rate Caddy as any more than a solid B grade player and a fully fit lids is definitely an A grader, but his age and Salary are a concern in that deal thoughts?
-
If we can get the Hibberd deal done for our future second rounder i'd be more than happy to put pick 28 on the table for him, i reckon he's a very good player, and while we have a few half backs it releases Hunts and Salem up the ground.
-
me either, would personally be happy to move him on to get someone like O'meara in the door
-
He's a bloody good player when fully fit, my concern is that the Hawks need to re-build their midfield and giving up one of the only good mids of the right age profile they have seems like it would be a bad result, especially given risks and so on. if they could get the deal done with another player i reckon they should jump at it.
-
Simply saying i wouldn't do that trade personally, just my opinion.
-
Look Stuie you're missing the point. can you be 100% sure there is no risk to O'meara, as you said you can't, the Hawks are clearly backing themselves to get him right, good on them, i am questioning trading Shiel, not bringing in O'meara. they need to re-build their midfield, i reckon giving away a good-very good midfielder for a very good but injury prone one isn't the way to do that, just my opinion i'd much rather see them trade Bruest for example who i see as less essential if you like. but this has nothing to do with the Dees
-
I didn't suggest that he wouldn't be able to tell, but given i work in the fitness industry i can say with absolute confidence that a serious injury like that, keeps you out of the game for two years will have some serious unknown factor about it, so the risk is significant, how will he respond to week to week footy ect and my point was that Shiels is a very good player with no serious injury history, and while O'meara fully fit may be better, i wouldn't be doing that particular trade.
-
I disagree, anyone who hasn't played in two years is a huge risk
-
Shiels is one being talked about as a potential trade to get in O'meara, surely he's a better bet than O'meara who may retire without playing another game?
-
That makes sense, i wonder if something like pick 13 and Jarryd Lyons would get the deal done?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Ted Lasso replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wonder if Dunn and our third roudner (46) for the Lions pick 30 might be a go? -
What's Gibbs worth do you think WJ? lot of talk in the Media that it'll be pick 13 which seems like unders to me, i would have thought Gibbs was worth more than that.
-
Wells is 31 and injury prone and they've given him a three year big $$ contract. Mayne is average at best and they've offered him a 4 year big $$ contract. They're desperate to try and improve their win/loss ratio next year to save the coaches hide, it's a horrible long term decision from them. we're miles ahead of the Pies and our list is far younger so there is more scope for growth and development. Hibberd suits our needs far more than either Mayne or Wells do, so we've gone for the guy we need, targeted recruiting with a plan. what's the Pies plan? i can't for the life of me see what they're trying to do. neither Mayne or Wells will be in the Pies next premiership side, but there is a chance Hibberd and or Melksham ould be for us.
-
Seriously, Richmond and their players seem to love making themselves look silly, coming out publicly three times in the last 2 weeks and rubbishing rumours he was leaving. straight swap for Motlop?
-
you'd hope the board who have to sign off on these contracts would be able to see that, which to me makes it a whole club decision, to me it's throwing 2-3 million dollars down the drain, no guarantees that Wells will stay fit, or that Mayne will have any impact at all.
-
I reckon this is a really bad decision by the Pies, Wells and Mayne are not going to be in their next premiership side, i reckon they have a pretty good young group, and they should be working on that
-
Brand is one i've heard us connected to.
-
I really think kicking at goal is a big thing with the comp so close conversion can be the difference between first and tenth
-
I reckon you're right, the team will in my opinion be very different under Goodwin next year, they'll really get this game plan nailed down and i expect us to finish between 5th and 8th Angus Brayshaw, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver, Jesse Hogan, Christian Salem, Jayden Hunt are all ready to do what Jack Viney and co did this year and take the next step and become genuine guns of the league
-
No Saty, i've already written to the MFC on twitter asking them to confirm they've enquired about Minson so that we can see you eat your scarf, no backing out now.
-
I reckon you're overrating Steele, i don't think he'd have anything like the impact for us that Hibberd will, i reckon he'd only be a fringe player/midfield rotation
-
His finish to the year was definitely the best form i've seen from Dom, i thought he was definitely best on ground in a couple of games. goal kicking midfielders are like gold in modern footy and Dom is a very important link in the chain for us, another full pre season and i expect him to take another step and be in the mix for All Australian in 2017.
-
Yup, u agree, i think we'll be keen to upgrade pick 44 into a second rounder if we can, maybe 44 and one of Dawes/Garland/Dunn if they attract any interest for a pick between 28-33 Jay Kennedy-Harris and Alex Neal-Bullen might both feel they'd be a better chance of playing at AFL level with a different side, despite both being contracted i reckon they'll be shopped around. I'm of the opinion that next years draft crop will be of a much higher standard than this years so personally i'd be really keen to retain our 2017 first round pick unless an amazing deal came along. I'd also be keeping an eye on developments with Tom Mitchell, if he leaves it's for money, the Swans are according to AFLcom only able to afford 320k a year and i reckon he's worth a bit more than that, the Hawks are going to find it really tough to get the trades done, so perhaps our 2017 pick might appeal to the Swans, i think the other big factor in his decision making is playing in a team that's going to feature in the pointy end of finals, and i reckon Hawks will slide regardless of Vickery, O'meara and or Mitchell.
-
Agreed, Hogan IS the CHF, he is so dangerous when he can get on his bike and get into the game, he will still be a 60 goal a year forward up the ground IMO
-
Surely Freo would be keen on Tippett?
