  1. My bad, i skimmed it and thought it said he'd re-signed until 2019, need to read these things more carefully, apologies.
  2. Weideman re-signs
  3. I'm yet to see a compelling arguement that these players were duped, they had so many opportunities to ask questions that would have bought the truth out, they've chosen not to every single time.
  4. Oh i agree, they were either horrifically negligent or actively cheating SWYL, i just want to understand Saty's point of view.
  5. Just out of curiosity Saty, you seem to feel the players were duped by senior people at the club doing the wrong thing, and then made to be scapegoats by a corrupt process that was essentially a witch hunt?
  6. they have a second round pick, a 2017 first round pick and players they could offer.
  7. http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/former-manager-peter-jess-says-jobe-watson-will-lose-2012-brownlow-medal-after-losing-doping-ban-appeal/news-story/13297f20a4be9bf7d79279f6ff600ffa
  8. His ban would have been reduced to zero if he could produce records of what he took as is his requirement as an AFL player under the ASADA/WADA code, it's as simple as if one of the 34 produced records this wouldn't be an issue.
  9. Pick 14 and Brad Hill to Freo Pick 7 to Gold Coast Suns O'meara to Hawks does that work maybe?
  10. Does Jobe keep the Brownlow? Absolutely not! the brownlow is awarded to the fairest and best player of each season, why should Sam Mitchell and Trent Cotchin who both played fairly in the 2012 miss out on the opportunity to be awarded one of the most prestigious individual honours in the game when the current holder of the 2012 medal is now a convicted drug cheat in the very same year he won it? I've heard Essendon supporters argue that the AFL tribunal found them not guilty so why should he lose an AFL award, i say to the same people, had they been found guilty they would have appealed the decision and if it were then overturned they wouldn't be complaining about the system, this attitude is that of a sooky child who has thrown his toys out of the cot because he didn't get his own way. the other argument i've heard is that if Jobe has to give his medal back so do Ben Cousins and Dane Swan, this is even more laughable, clearly not understanding the difference between recreational drugs and performance enhancing drugs, and not understanding there is totally different set of rules for each. three strikes policy is in place for a reason. there is absolutely no good reason i have ever heard to allow Jobe to keep his brownlow, he cheated and is yet to take responsibility for it in any real way, and neither are any of the players, lets remember that in 30 odd approaches from ASADA not one of these players ever declared any of these injections. I have very little sympathy for the players in this situation as i believe they're the real cause for this situation, people can argue that dank bought the injections into the club, and the club culture is to trust your doctors ect, but ultimately it's the players decision if they accept the injections and it's the players decision to keep correct records incase ASADA come knocking. i've said it a few times on here, every single AFL player is 100% responsible for every substance that enters their body, they're responsible for keeping records to prove they haven't cheated, i know players who write down the serial numbers on bottles for their records, there is absolutely no excuse for 34 professional athletes to fail to do this really simple part of being a professional athlete. so there is no way Jobe can keep his brownlow, if he does it would be the darkest day in AFL history as it would signal the end of all integrity in the game, you can't be the best and FAIREST player in the league and a drug cheat in the very same year.
  11. I wonder if the delay is the Bombers wanting to see just how far our second rounder gets pushed back, i mean it was 26, it's already gone to 28, 29 if the Mayne deal gets done. our 2017 second round pick might be looking more appealing now.
  12. Maybe Brand fits into it somehow? the Swans need key defenders. not sure if pick 23 and Brand would be enough pick 14, 33 and say Hartung for O'meara maybe?
  13. and i suspect it and something else gets the deal done for Mitchell, and O'meara will be a player and a pick.
  14. It's more than just playing ability, 300 odd games experience, his elite kicking on both sides is something i'm not sure any other player in the comp would replace, his footy brain is right up there as well.
  15. I suspect Mitchell and Clarko have a very strong relationship and he's mentioned to him a number of times that he's interested in coaching after footy and that's something they may even be working on developing at the Hawks, i reckon this is just Clarko putting it to Sam that if a deal can work for both parties it'd be a good opportunity for him. to me this is a very mature way to handle it, i'm sure part of him would be pretty sad to leave the Hawks but it's an awesome opportunity for him under a coach that he clearly respects greatly.
  16. get on the phone MFC, offer him 2 years and a transition into coaching.
  17. LOL!! EFC supporters arguing that because the AFL tribunal didn't find them guilty Jobe has to keep his brownlow!!
  18. Maybe they should take it up with Dank?
  19. It's not, but the AFL seem to be behaving like petulant children unwilling to accept the decision so anything is possible to spite WADA/ASADA giving them pick 1 in itself is a joke
  20. No logically way he can keep the medal, The Brownlow is awarded to the FAIREST and best player in 2012, the same year Jobe now has been found guilty of cheating. it's disgusting that there is even a conversation about this. The AFL needs to realise they can't play both sides, by looking after EFC the way they have they're making themselves looks corrupt as all hell very publicly and losing favour with the other 17 clubs who didn't cheat.
  21. It's a real shame because both are great guys and super talented, but because they don't have the exposed form they don't attract anywhere near the interest they should. I reckon Essendon would be nuts not to trade pick 1 this year, they could get pick 3 and something else from the Giants for that upgrade and still get the bloke they want.
  22. Freo get pick 7 in a super open draft, McCarthey who they offered two first round picks for only 12 months ago, pick 33 which should help get Brad Hill over the line and a bonus pick. it has the potential to be a massive win for them, one thing i will say about the Giants is they clearly understand the amount of help they're getting and they don't seem to mind paying overs to help out the other clubs.
  23. Could be a huge value deal if McCarthy can get back to his best form. do they now move pick 33 on to the Hawks for Brad Hill?
  24. apparently good mates with Carracella who's now an assistant at the Tigers
  25. A fully fit Lids takes so much pressure of Dangerfield and Selwood and i don't think the loss of Caddy will be hugely missed, so i reckon it's win-win, given the Cats are chasing a flag and Lids might get them over the line, and the Tigers are probably 3-4 years away yet. Salary and Salary cap for the cats being the biggest hurdle
