If they have foxtel go in their account that means they are entitled to have it on so many devices. Does not distinguish between who is in physical possession of the device. So yes... you can use it. It may formally breach the terms and conditions but in practice I do not see how such a breach could be enforced.

Justice for the 34..... the new Winslow boys ! Perhaps a movie by Oliver Stone could re-write history -
Funny I do the reverse on those few occasions I want to watch the replay on the AFL site as it is blocked internationally ie. I set my vpn to Australia Wonder if that will be blocked this year

Not sure why the international pass is not free or a lot cheaper. The number of users would be miniscule and if the AFL wants to grow the game internationally no one who is not a rusted on AFL expat would be prepared to pay. No use comparing it to the cost for the equivalent NBA, NFL, EPL passes. They really do have world wide followings. In Asia the game is carried on the Australia channel which shows that none of the main sporting channels are prepared to carry it. The Australia channel is just another expat channel in the lifestyle section. Few Asians would even know it exists.

Good observation but I suspect that like most teams in this series the Dogs did not play their full defensive press. The breaking of that press is where Hunt comes into his own.

Next week we play Carlton. Winning or losing against them does nothing for me. I would like to see the team practice various game plans for at least a couple of quarters. Hopefully the Casey Oval provides reasonable match conditions. Weather forecast looks good with a maximum of 22 and winds 15-25km/h

The rules for this series allow an extra three players and unlimited (?) interchange Just cannot see how you play Spencer during the season unless he can make a position his own while resting. After so many years he has not done that. I agree that it is great for Gawn but just cannot see how it can be done

On an aside.... I am amazed that betting is allowed on what is a practice game with no obligation on the coach to try and win.

we won

Dominating the hit outs.. 28 -18 BUT down 19-25 in clearances

That's their big party trick ..... need to work out the counter if the umps are not going to police the questionable handballs

Not sure what to read into the first of those two omissions .... probably nothing but ....... who knows

The sale by Lloyd and Hird of their domain names has been known for years.... Here is a long discussion about it on Big Footy in 2003 https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/bombers-web-sham-exposed.70515/ -
I'm sure I have seen that in multiple American football movies. American college football is famous for inventive fake plays... probably all on youtube these days

Out of curiosity would that "tackle" be legal today ?

Interesting.... internet rights were split off around two negotiations back. If I recall on the first negotiation it was almost a give away and of course more on the next round. Will be interesting where the internet rights fit into the next round of negotiations. Because Telstra own 50% of Foxtel hard to see them making a play for an increase in the quality of the internet stream but perhaps a new player might (eg Stan owned by Channel 7) might see it as an avenue to gain market share. Of course Foxtel these days is increasingly an internet stream itself so the waters are getting very muddy. I watch most of the season overseas on Australia Plus which comes as part of my local cable provider (Astro) but on a big screen the quality is poor by comparison to other Australian programs. My theory is that to keep the game live (it is fact about five minutes behind real time) they compress the stream over the international cables. By comparison a program like the 7.30 report which is shown here at 7.30 and thus on two/three hour delay comes in with the usual picture quality one sees in Australia. A bit of a bugbear when you can turn on the Sports HD channel and watch EPL etc absolutely live in brilliant HD

Foxtel must be haemorraghing customers or at the very least its growth rate is nil. Netflix and Amazon are eating their lunch and the future does not look pretty. Sport is the last bastion of their defence and even that is limited to local sport as we have seen with Optus taking the EPL The Foxtel model of giving lots of nothing for say $50 a month and then asking another $10 here and another there for anything you want to watch is fast becoming a dinosaur. I give it 5-10 years at the very outside

we are young and tired.... (thought I would get in first)

There you have it Sherlock. my friend.......... Only a matter of time until he does the paid expose.... it won't be through mainstream media but I am sure someone will come up with a pay per view equivalent that will net him a few dollars -
With this system it really is a 17 game home and way season and then a round robin mini final followed by the traditional finals In theory it could be quite exciting but I expect the "money men" will kill it as there are just too many golden geese that would be lost. Would also like to see the virtual results of such a methodology applied over the last ten years. It could end up like Formula 1 where they changed the qualifying system and ended up with a dead bore (they dropped the system after 2-3 races)

They are still thinking about it for as early as 2018 https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/feb/15/radical-overhaul-of-afl-fixture-still-on-cards-for-2018-season One of the main problems apparently is the 11 home games promised to clubs Not sure why it is a big problem because with alternate home and away seasons in the first 17 rounds you get 8 one year and 9 the next. Of the remaining 5 you would have to get two so at most every second year you miss one home game. With some financial wizardry (gate sharing for example this issue could be fixed.) To me it seems to be one of the lesser problems but then again to the power house clubs that make big money out of home games (not the MFC) I can see them hollering.
-
In reality a lot of any game plan is about breaking the zone with minimal risk. Sounds simple but can be hard to do. Noticed other teams (but not MFC) use a tactic last year that when player 1 from team A has a mark or free kick, another player (2) from Team A will stand near the Team B player who is on the mark. Player 1 plays on and then player 2 steps into shepherd away the team B player. The idea is that Player 1 can then kick over the zone.
