  1. weird,,, all the online scores stopped at the 20:37 mark of the second quarter... even footywire that Little Goffy kindly steered us towards Updated scores would be appreciated
  2. Like Essendon last year those teams who play Carlton twice are favoured by the draw. How we lost two give away games last years is beyond me !!!
  3. Thanks I'm overseas and I thought they might have put a geo blocker on it... just ridiculous Luckily it is not the most interesting game of the year... scores are 45-27 Tigers way
  4. ah... I had posted on the live app thread saying I could get nothing... this might explain it can you post again if you get a connection...
  5. You could be right my friend ..... it is weird .... same thing happened a few weeks back with a JLT match and then miraculously it worked for the next JLT match Will keep trying.... luckily the MFC match on Saturday is on the local cable
  6. So I tried to go to the AFL website using my laptop and it will not load... set the VPN for Melbourne and still no loading What is going on !!! Was on the AFL website in the last few days.. no problems Local cable does not show the Thursday night games,,,,,,
  7. As many will know you have to log onto the AFL app/website if you want to listen to live internet radio coverage of a game. Just tried it for the first time this year on my phone and I cannot find the listen live symbol. Anyone help. Lots of messages about watching it.. but radio coverage is not as obvious
  8. sorry but can someone give me a run down on why Hannan is in the team. Did he have a good JLT series etc etc thanks... the question is genuine as I don't recall much mention of him other than in some posts as a possibility
  9. If Watts is not selected it is another stuff up by the new management. (The other was the co-captaincy) Watts is clearly best 22... ok he could be better.... but this will make the weekend all about Watts and not about team improvement. Hopefully Watts is selected... we have a win and can get the season away to a decent start. MFCSS says otherwise of course !!
  10. The website is not very interesting but I think it has a lot to do with the AFL having primary control of the club internet rights. You could use club websites as online portals with ads etc but in reality what would happen is that the big clubs with big supporter bases would benefit the most and the gap between them and us would just grow larger. Let's face it club communication in public is understandably bland and the website will almost always be full of puffery. I follow the Redskins.... (they used to be good like Melbourne) so I go to their website occasionally to check their performance. It is chock a block with info but of course a lot more money in the NFL due to the one team cities.
  11. Beware... I lived through the late 60's... started barracking for Melbourne in '63 or '64.... was away overseas for most of 64 but I can remember a game at Glenferrie against Hawthorn late in 64. The start of 65 was not too bad and then a friend came home breathlessly telling me how St Kilda beat Melbourne. If I recall we won few games after that and the decline began. After the GF in 2000 I looked at the team and thought this was our time.... it wasn't. Is now our time ..... perhaps but like the Bulldogs we will have to be lucky... we are not Hawthorn... that team built up dominance over 30 years... probbaly just like Melbourne in the fifties To win as a Melbourne team you have to be good. Interstate teams have an easier home and away and therefore their chances of making the big one are higher. Hope is a wonderful thing but blind faith is just that..........blind Go Dees and let's hope we are there late in September
  12. 1964-1987= 23 years without a finals appearance Not sure if any other club has ever had such a bad performance
  13. Richmond v Carlton tomorrow night.... they are talking 75,000 Richmond.... mid -level 9-14 Carlton 17-18 We can only dream of such crowds
  14. The West Coast allegations deserve consideration but not in a way that detracts from the Essendon saga
  15. One can however see the problem in the report. Means we have the least upside in turning supporters into members and attendees. And of course as it is expressed in percentage terms rather than outright numbers it ignores the sheer dominance of the larger clubs. Adelaide has an almost entire city backing it. We really need some success to improve our supporter base amongst the young .... 23 years between finals appearances and then 52 years since the last flag is an abysmal performance. Perhaps we need to market ourselves as a boutique club for the thinking supporter ...... a glass of pinot anyone?
  16. The clue is in the names of the teams.... we are irrelevant
  17. Must say I keep recalling his last game played in anger.... the VFL Grand Final.... was not his best day All I can think of is that it is some master plan to leverage Gawn
  18. All good young man.... hope you enjoy the win !!!
  19. That area shows tickets at $51 but perhaps they sell some cheapies to surround the cheer squad thus acting as a buffer to opposing supporters... makes sense PS I just did some more clicking and sure enough just behind the goals at one end there are seats at $18-$51. I see that when you click around on areas up on level 3 in the away section it is showing seats from $11. Plus of course the most expensive printing fee ever of $8 !!!! (When is the ACCC going to have a go at these guys)
  20. Am I one of the few people in the world who has never heard an Adele song Until she had her disagreement with Spotify I had never heard of her I obviously should get out more PS Is she like Sherbet ?
  21. Must say it seems a bit light price wise binman the link below is to the AFL seat pricing for this game and it shows the lowest price being general admission at $25 http://www.afl.com.au/tickets/seat-pricing-guide perhaps email the club... I would hate for you to rock up and miss out or spend an hour in the queue and miss our 10 goal to nil match winning first quarter !!
  22. Good to see a little resistance 13 runs behind ...... 20 minutes until tea on the last day and six wickets in hand the next hour's play will be fascinating As an aside... I know we don't play Khawaja because of his difficulty with spin ... but Warner's tour has been diabolical
  23. Ah... remember their first ground manager.... who famously said .... "no more walk ups... the people will have to get used to buying tickets in advance". I think he lasted a month before he was moved on
  24. Actually it is up against qualifying 5pm- 6pm which is probably the most exciting part of Formula 1 bar the first lap
  25. The disappointing thing is the traditional vision impaired Frederick could have seen this coming. What makes it worse is that the Adele concerts were only organised and approved for Etihad AFTER the AFL took full ownership and management of the venue. They have no one else to blame. Of course the venue hire fees would have been useful but it's time they put in place some non discretionary criteria such as no events within X weeks of a football game that involve useage of the the turf.
