  1. and I'll raise you May for pick 6
  2. we always cave... It's the Melbourne way and Goodwin is desperate
  3. just wouldn't fit in at Melbourne with those attributes
  4. hope not... it means we caved. Why doesn't that surprise me
  5. along with Oliver handballing to someone's feet and Viney getting caught with the ball it does say something about the coaching staff and their Band F voting. A very underwhelming performance in a totally underwhelming year. I hope we get to rate Goodwin in this activity
  6. Would be surprised if he stays at Collingwood simply because he ranks behind De Goey and Stephenson and maybe Mihochek in the forward area. When Cox returns that's another place up forward gone. Oh well back to the drawing board
  7. Langdon deal will take a while given we are in the box seat due to the PSD. If we are going to give up the second rounder I hope we trade for a later second round pick and thus get value. Given where we finished the season our second and third round picks are very high value. Long way between pick 20 and pick 38 all of which are second rounders.
  8. do we put this activity on hold now?
  9. Believe it or not but his goalkicking may have improved in 2019. 19G 23 B in 2018 22G 14 B in 2019 https://finalsiren.com/PlayerStats.asp?PlayerID=2626
  10. Kenny and his port a loos spring to mind. Nothing better than the smell of a port a loo in the hot summer sun !!! I have a wonderfully eclectic photo collection of alternative toilet designs from a recent trip to India if we need inspiration.
  11. Will be interesting AFL said when Buddy went to the Swans instead of the AFL preferred GWS that they would strongly resist any salary cap relief should Buddy not be able to play out his entire contract. Times change though and AFL want a strong Sydney
  12. "Insiders at Pies confident " Are they ever anything else. How could any Collingwood desired player ever wish to leave the bosom of the magpie nest for an also ran such as MFC. Play regularly before crowds of 70k plus diehard fans or go to the Alice and play a home game before a 10k crowd of which 60% or more barrack for the away team.
  13. Richo will not have come cheap
  14. At Elliot's stage of life it's all about contract term and dollars. At 26 this is his big signing. Finals footy is just a cherry if other things are equal.
  15. $750k for Elliot would be madness if it it didn't come with some heavy KPI's. If real there is no way Pies would match it
  16. the soft cap IS the football department. Its success drives almost every other aspect of our revenue. If you cut (which may be necessary) the last place is in the football department. On the membership side a lot of those new members were increased contra from sponsorship deals. We could be in for a big hit in 2020 membership wise due to the decreased contribution from NT and who knows what from Jaguar. Also we would have budgeted for big money from our home MCG games (the last three). Probably cost us a million bucks just there. 2019 has been such a bad year for this club on so many fronts. Let's hope 2020 delivers.
  17. If you don't have enough money to spend the full soft cap a club is in trouble. For those who can remember the requirement to spend 90% of the salary cap was brought into pressure Fitzroy
  18. One of the few developmental success stories of recent seasons. Hopefully Hore (showed promise in 2019) joins him next year and we get solid contributions from both Fritsch and Hannan.
  19. If he does command $650k at Hawthorn ... the flip side is that he is worth a second round pick albeit a late one .
  20. This has always been a grey area and you can expect the Players Association to try to expand player ownership of their image and associated promotional rights. $25 for a simple signature does sound high in the scheme of things. Would be interesting to see the context (background) to the signature as a lot of the meaningful emblems are owned by the club or the AFL.. eg the Tiger emblem, the trophy etc
  21. I suppose GCS could just tell us that they weren't intending to take him at the designated salary and term which would give us the upper hand in negotiations. In reality it's not a high risk play as GCS would be unlikely to take him interstate against his will. The law is full of definitions of the term "understanding" but they rarely extend it to the concept of merely being informed.
  22. Can you do that. I recall there being rarely enforced rules about manipulating the draft. With the luck of the MFC we'd be the fist for them to be enforced against. I assume you cannot trade spots in the PSD.
  23. That Smith was offered and accepted a one year deal was interesting in this regard. The cynic in me suggests that the injury level is still "unclear." I had thought we signed KK on a one year deal but someone posted in recent weeks that it was in fact a three year deal. The cumulative risk factor of adding Bennell plus possibly Jamie Elliot is not sensible list management. Pity because most of us are at the stage that we would take any risk to get this club going somewhere.
  24. no Tomlinson and bye to Frost perhaps
  25. as an aside what is the latest on JKH. If he goes as well which he probably should our midfield depth is looking thin
