PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Sums up my thinking. Improving at Casey is a tough ask when we have so many talls there as well

AFL Mid-Season Draft 2025
Apparently Essendon have four spots open. The situation will likely change before the draft, but eight clubs have at least one list vacancy: Essendon (four), Gold Coast and Western Bulldogs (two each), and West Coast, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Collingwood and Carlton (one). https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/drafted-on-wednesday-play-on-thursday-the-players-dons-could-pick-up-amid-injury-crisis-20250526-p5m29y.html

AFL Mid-Season Draft 2025
Pity we haven't got a horse in the race. I would not say no to giving Bonner a go.

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
The old Alice has taken a battering in the media over recent years for reasons well known to us all. Hopefully this game can showcase a positive image and return some benefit to the town. The only time I enjoyed BT commentating was when he waxed lyrical about how you couldn't goal if you were further out than the tree. Not sure why we're playing the Saints in the centre but we all know the AFL works in a mysterious way.

CASEY: Rd 10 vs Sydney Swans
So true A pity they couldn't play a curtain raiser in the Red Centre or as you say at Casey

GAMEDAY: Rd 11 vs Sydney
I'm having flashbacks to Clint Bizkits zone of indecision from 2023 when we would get 26 points up and falter. Let's get it over 40 and enjoy the last quarter

GAMEDAY: Rd 11 vs Sydney
3:8 And 4:8 in the last quarter last week. I see a pattern Sherlock

What is this accuracy (lack thereof)

GAMEDAY: Rd 11 vs Sydney
I know JVR isn't firing on all cylinders but surely he offers more as a back up ruck/resting forward than AJ ?

Short Boundary Throw Ins
the throw in has been shown to be potentially damaging to the back over a long period. Probably less of a problem these days with four umpires and the lack of intent rule meaning less throw in per umpire. No problem with throwing from 5M in. Meanwhile bring back the white coats and hats for the goal umpires (they were world famous)

Looking forward to lots of colourful posts. According to locals Pattaya has slowed up in recent years so it's great that you two are back to boost the local economy. Enjoy yourselves

CASEY: Rd 09 vs Northern Bullants
When watching Casey I look for both team system and individual brilliance. Moreover I look for players who can find time and space on their opponents. The latter is essential to AFL success. There were flashes of all three yesterday but in the main it was sledgehammer tactics against a much weaker team. The first quarter with a stiff breeze was apposite. Shots on the run from beyond 50 and forwards leading to the pocket. Our exits from the backline were slow and often indecisive. Handballs were rarely used to benefit open players. In respect of the forwards. Sure they took marks against a beleaguered opposition but how many were taken by smart leads and running patterns that saw them make a break on their opponent. It's those skills that you need at AFL level as the defender will be miles better. That being said it was an enjoyable day on the grass verges watching youngsters playing gleefully in the waning Autumn sun.

CASEY: Rd 09 vs Northern Bullants
Left at 3/4 time. Overall not a great spectacle. Too much crowded scrambly play with Casey far too powerful but rarely able to get clear. Casey now has too many tall forwards and then you add in Verrall and TC. A complete absence of any organised crumbing from any small/medium. In a game made for Tholstrup he didn't excel. Sat at half forward so didn't really see the back players. Suffice to say they took lots of marks. Casey did a lot of switching of play but it was often too slow and without real purpose. Jefferson may well have shone but JVR is going backwards based on today's opposition. One other thing given our surplus number of talls he didn't appear to get any chance to practice his ruck craft.

If you mean Preston Railway station it's just across the road.

CASEY: Rd 09 vs Northern Bullants
The Blues when they took over the bullants did them no favours. Strange competition the vfl as we've discussed many times. Given the game in Sydney and the location of today's game we should have a couple of thousand supporters here. Lucky to be a couple of hundred

CASEY: Rd 09 vs Northern Bullants
oval condition is almost perfect. Great day for football We are allowing Preston to crowd the ball. Would like to see a more aggressive spread and perhaps a few players hanging back in an attempt to reduce the numbers around the ball carrier. on skills and marking ability we are streets ahead

CASEY: Rd 09 vs Northern Bullants
getting scrappy given the domination. Jvr behind Jefferson on performance this half. Bullants first goal More of a stiff breeze than a wind
-
CASEY: Rd 09 vs Northern Bullants
where are the bullants on the ladder. This could get ugly

CASEY: Rd 09 vs Northern Bullants
against the wind may be better. A bit too much of the blazing away in Q1 Keeping their eyes down this quarter
