  1. Geelong defence are killing Port
  2. As I recall we have to include a chunk of Brayshaw's contract in our salary cap and the percentage increases in the later years. Then there's Joel Smith's payments ? Makes it just that more difficult going forward given all the other back ended deals we probably have on our books (Petracca, Oliver? Gawn May? just to mention a few) You wonder if we have almost pencilled in a down period for say 2026 -2029. Makes sense in a way
  3. I'm way too scarred by Dunstan, McAdam Hunter Billings etc etc to have any interest whatsoever in a player such as CD. His skill is the short lateral kick (70 degrees or so) to a relatively free player. These days the skill required is a quick ten yards and then a medium (40 metre) 0-25 degrees degrees kick so you are in front of the "masses" rolling back. He also tends to run in an almost circle before disposing of the ball which gives even more time to the "masses" rolling back. As I recall he also go a fair few kicks from just sitting alone on the 50 metre defensive arc. Not sure you can afford to have a player in that position for too long these days. Finally we already have our fair share of smalls in the team
  4. A lot of good/interesting points in that article. Dare I say that life is all about the "brand" these days
  5. TV content and clean air against the NRL Vegas non-event. The season is now boringly long IMO
  6. Objectively our future first is equivalent to pick10/11 and at best pick 4 or at worst pick 16 Would be bad trading to also throw in pick 25 for pick 13 IMO
  7. Houston signed a long term deal on middling money and then hit AA form. This "trade" is about re-oening his contract. Port are playing hardball as they should
  8. ah we beat them by a couple of points in Melbourne
  9. Rioli for picks 6 and 20. When the Tiges were flying he struck me as about tenth in their best 22. Suns have so much draft capital it's scary
  10. The Board spill at MRC has been confirmed
  11. Rioli for pick 6. Sounds high
  12. Unfortunately it has come to that time as it often does in many businesses that we need a circuit breaker aka a scapegoat. Not sure who it should be but we aren't getting out of this mess with a steady as you go approach. Post 2021 has definitely not been what we were all imagining
  13. Need our second pick back from Adelaide. It's not a bad pick now . For example it's higher than the pick at which we selected fritsch and I think rivers I'm not adverse to trading our future first and dipping into the draft three times if the recruiters think the depth is there
  14. Correct Port will want to win big time for a home final
  15. Don't really understand West coast With their wealth and home ground advantage you would expect to see some improvement Same for north given their extra draft picks and Tasmanian advantage Two years ago I would have said Collingwood was on its way down for a long time and hawks ... Who knows Coach and gameplan are now as important as good players perhaps
  16. Don't know.... could be
  17. Spargo still on crutches Not great
  18. Life was not meant to be easy A rebel board member has called for a spill of the Melbourne Racing Club committee following scathing criticism of Caulfield Racecourse’s new $160 million mounting yard facilities as well as the club’s $250 million plans to replace the Rupert Clark Grandstand. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/racing/rebels-call-for-spill-of-melbourne-racing-club-board-saying-caulfield-revamp-in-disarray-20240822-p5k4mk.html Toss up as to how this might affect/delay our plan
  19. Yeah but we'll make a decent amount from the away gate takings I suspect we need it
  20. Mercy rule time Casey definitely needs a rethink as to strategic goals etc I don't mind losing but are they gaining anything skill wise
  21. Getting killed out the back
  22. A ruckman would be useful
  23. he's hiding in the grass
