CASEY: Rd 07 vs Carlton
I'm thinking this could see around 14 plus AFL listed players in the team. If Woewodin only plays a quarter at AFL level he may even join in. 11 from the VFL match last week plus Hore, BBB, Laurie. PS Forgot Schache.. so one more

Training Ground?
Must say that was the first thing that came to mind. The scoreboard doubles as an advertising billboard so why should taxpayers foot the bill.

TRAINING: Wednesday 8th May 2024
Good question. I used to think it was a quiet jog lead by the Captain. Does Goodwin and the rest of the training staff attend? If so why is it called a Captain's Run. Beautiful day for a run through the autumn leaves though

NON-MFC: Round 09
Of course this weekend's football is up against the phenomenally successful Eurovision Song Contest. Don't miss Croatia's Baby Lasagna (singing Rim Tim Tagi Dim) . You never know might be a candidate for the Tassie team's theme song.

CASEY: Rd 06 vs Williamstown
A week ago Roy George was playing for Tyntynder in the AFL Central Murray League. Had to look it up but Tyntynder is in the Mallee near Nyah Big step up to be talked of as being an AFL draftee Was in Victoria during 2023 as well so makes you wonder how he came to get a game on Sunday. Lots of AFL players back for the next VFL round but I hope they squeeze him in

2024 Injury List
Looks like Salem will be available post the Eagles game. Fingers crossed for no more injuries and that would mean best 22 available

PREGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton
Was thinking this yesterday. He certainly seems to get the ball more often than Charlie did in 2023 but perhaps Charlie had more reliable disposal. I think Charlie will find it difficult to regain his spot assuming no injuries to his competitors. I'd be looking at Hunter as an impact sub assuming he can improve his speed and kicking style (low bullets). Not really sure what other role there is for him

NON-MFC: Round 09
Some big "8" point games this weekend. From an MFC viewpoint I think it best to look for an outcome that reduces the number of top 4 contenders (as Stu says above) On that basis I'm hoping for wins to Geelong Sydney GWS and Adelaide Another very big game for us Seems such an overly long season although in reality it's simply that at this stage of our "window" it's all about the finals series with the Home and Away being a necessary prelude. (This must be what Hawthorn supporters perhaps felt.)

NON-MFC: Round 08
Definitely a key forward. He's almost their version of Fritsch based on goals scored. A quiet achiever

A bit tough... Ideally you want to add two youngsters per year to the best 22. In 2023 we did that with JVR and McVee. This year Windsor has been added and Chandler should cement his spot. What we haven't done since the magnificent 2019 draft of Jackson, Pickett and Rivers is hit that seam of gold which just drives a team to greater heights. Then again few clubs have

PREGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton
Definitely interesting that he spent so much time on the bench after being inserted into the game at the 3 minute mark of the last quarter. While I don't necessarily agree perhaps they will prefer a more mature player like Hunter as the sub this week. Carlton, Sydney, GWS and the Pies plus the Eagles in Perth (no pushover on recent form) what a hard run !!

CASEY: Rd 06 vs Williamstown
Agree It's a difficult balancing act not made easier by the competition make up. Have often wondered if you were a non AFL fringe player who would you prefer to play for. A stand alone club where your selection is on merit or an AFL aligned club where your selection is based mainly on how many injured or hold overs there are in the AFL team. Enjoyable match today which did many of the AFL youngsters no harm in the development stakes

These umps don't like paying insufficient intent. Think that's the third one that would have been paid at AFL level
