  1. I think it's easier to rank groups than players. Backline.... medium to good... suspect players.. Hibberd (age) Jetta (age and form) Smith/Tomlinson (form) Midfield poor to medium .. very good players but rarely function as a unit Forward line... Poor... suspect players... All for well discussed reasons but at least most have demonstrable upside. Increasingly question marks over Melksham and AVB plus the Hunt/Hannan/ANB/Spargo band So on that basis our list isn't great but it has potential for the right coach. It's definitely the best we have had for a very very long time.
  2. Pleasant to see other clubs with salary cap problems due to long contracts. Will be interesting to see if the power clubs move to maximum three year deals. The Buddy deal made long contracts seem smart with the ever growing media money and its accompanying increase in the salary cap. Not anymore.
  3. And of course the big unknown... Adjusted list sizes and salary cap ... Announcement Date Unknown
  4. definitely has a long way to go from the few times I have watched him. was only a relieving ruck at Casey in 2019 given they played Buxton when Preuss was not playing. You have to wonder what benefit he got from the hub in terms of development
  5. I'd be happy with that length assuming the medicos are happy with his body. If it's five as LH posted I'd start to have some concern
  6. Is there any word on the length of the contract we are likely to offer Ben Brown. Thanks
  7. he was out of contract... had nothing to do with the May trade it was simply a case of which club offered him the better deal and we blinked not sure what is has to do with brown either
  8. Miers hairdo looks like an extra in Aida
  9. only in the antipodes my friend. Some of us are denied entry to Terra Australis Hoping to get a plane in 2021 ?
  10. grrrrrrrrrr Kayo doesn't have any rights even to show the 7 stream today and I can't get the 7plus stream working Luckily I can live without seeing this one
  11. Yep I generally try to have a second team that is of interest to me but neither of today's team excite. The Bulldogs win really brought home to me our lack of success. We are alone now on the bottom rung of the failure ladder with only the Saints anywhere near us. Go Storm !!!
  12. If it can be proved that this is the reason more money is being paid it is draft tampering. Remember that the formula is discretionary. Then again the AFL may be happy to give these two clubs a helping hand. MFCSS tells me that if we tried it we would be fined and lose the compo pick
  13. Eddie being inappropriate again perhaps.... "Morrison rejected claims from the Collingwood Football Club president, Eddie McGuire, who told news.com.au that Holgate – a Collingwood board member – was the victim of “a pile on” because “hacks” and “dullards” were trying to drag her down"
  14. this is the new battleground
  15. Queensland just lost the India cricket tour to NSW. Politics !!!!!!! https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/oct/23/cricket-australia-locks-in-nsw-as-indias-quarantine-hub
  16. one woman on an 8 person board. would be nice to see a little more diversity including age and background.
  17. Must say I'm quite hoping for lightning and the game is postponed. Very 2020
  18. Interesting diversion. fifty odd years ago the general belief was that it was easier to win a Brownlow at a struggling club because other players in your team did not take votes away from you. Fast forward to the last ten years and the Brownlow has almost always gone to a player in a finals team. Wonder what has changed
  19. Especially when Fox/Kayo is paying almost two thirds of the media rights. It's always been a strange marriage
  20. If the AFL bubble is with us for a while in 2021 it makes it very difficult to have a full second team comp as the top up players will need to live and work outside the bubble
  21. yep you've picked it in one even in 2018 our slow start would see us ignored 2020... maybe one at best... probably bulldogs v us
  22. well you kind of know it wont do us much good yeah I know... winning fixes everything....
  23. Gil doesn't get it "AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan has defended free agency and flagged the possibility of fluid fixturing next year so that the most appealing games appear in the prime broadcast slots. With a place in this year's grand final and three first-round picks in the draft to follow, the Cats scarcely fit the profile of a club in need. But the short history of free agency has demonstrated over and over that players on the move prioritise success over money. McLachlan said the Geelong/Cameron nexus was not an accident. "That is free agency. They've got to attract him, they've got to fit him into their cap," he said. "If you create good environments, good footy clubs, players will come to you. It's a credit to Geelong." https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/free-to-a-good-home-mclachlan-backs-cameron-move-20201021-p5679s.html
  24. So summing up the posts: injury prone 27 year old on a decent contract who played zero games in 2020 and 8 in 2019
