Four More Years !! Thanks Mr May

2022 Premiership Market
Richmond is the interesting one. Was last year an aberration or the real thing

Best & Fairest 2021
You can bet they are considering how best to "monetise" the event. Don't blame them. What about say Feb with usual dinner $X00 a seat, some decent speakers/entertainment and a pay per view stream at say $10 a log on

Farewell Luke Jackson
The two year extension to end 2024 will be done. Won't come cheap. Post 2024 who knows but the offers coming in especially from a post Natanui Eagles could be huge. 2024 will be the year our list managers really earn their money as we could be looking to replace Gawn, Ben Brown and May just to mention a few. In the meantime 2 or 3 more flags would be nice

Bunch of Dees re-sign
Interested to hear the lengths of those various extensions. The one that surprises me is Baker. I really thought he would get some solid interest from another club where he was closer to a senior run. Mirrors perhaps the tightness of the various salary caps etc and no one willing to punt on future rises in the cap. Best of luck to them all. If Casey ever gets onto the field we will certainly have a competitive team.

Premiership DVD and victory pack
DVD players are still de rigeur for the big screen surround sound home theatre crowd but as you say for the rest of us who just use an Apple TV box or in my case an Nvidia Shield they are an anachronism. On a more general note I see that none of the radio stations have the game coverage available on podcast. Needless to say it's an AFL restriction but it's not great.

How far off were we from a perfect 2021?
Agree Have started rewatching each game and while we had no "lucky" wins there are a few where we were ordinary. I suppose it's all about building but few games gave a hint of what was to be such a dominant finals series. And let's not forget that after the round 19 loss to the Dogs we could easily have finished 5th or worse. A wonderful season that I hope to see repeated before big crowds in 2022

Jake Melksham
Would we pay say $100k of his contract to move him on. I suspect he is on mid $500's approx...maybe $450k but no less

What to do on the weekend after the grand final?
Do the various radio stations have podcasts of their GF coverage. Would make for nice listening while doing the masked walking thing. Thanks

What to do on the weekend after the grand final?
No... I will watch the losses for the learnings. 😎 Watching the Freo game you certainly wouldn't pick us as premiers.

What to do on the weekend after the grand final?
Kayo It's clunky but they are all there Select the AFL preference and then the MFC subset. Strangely enough you need to scroll to the right to get the earlier games. Up to the Saints game round 2. Boy we were scratchy in that Freo game... enjoy

What to do on the weekend after the grand final?
Started the other night with Round 1 against Freo (one quarter per night). Should be up to the GF in time for Saty's first summer training report

Majak Dawn set to sign on for 2022.
Yes.. he got one week. It was in a scratch match so perhaps it can be served in another scratch match if it hasn't already been done. Perhaps the AFL could use its discretion after the VFL season from hell. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/melbourne-demons/afl-news-2021-majak-daw-hit-on-mason-cox-throat-bruised-larynx-collingwood-magpies-injury-list-mro/news-story/303e549b60a1f31c51c141069aea488f PS the article talks about a Round 23 scratch match that he was going to be excluded from so perhaps he has served the suspension

2022 Fixture - We are the Hard Draw!
Darwin... No thanks Home games against Geelong, Essendon and Carlton plus Richmond and Collingwood should go a long way to squaring the ledger. Darwin not needed. As many as possible in the first half of the season recognising that Richmond will need to be asecond half game.

2022 Fixture - We are the Hard Draw!
Need an early home game against Essendon at the MCG. It would be a big money earner to make up for our two blockbusters which I think are both away games

We Kicked too many Goals
so assuming they do the dynamic 6 week fixture again at least for the the first six weeks how many Friday night games do we get next year in the first six weeks. My guess is two. If we were Richmond or Collingwood it would be four. An early MCG home match against Essendon could be an enormous money spinner

We Kicked too many Goals
Friday night here we come..... A source told The Age that Channel Seven gifted some of their sponsors, who didn’t originally plan to run advertisements during the telecast of the big game, some free plugs. The reason for that act of generosity was partly due to there being so many ad breaks because of the glut of goals that were kicked in the second half. In essence, Melbourne kicked too many goals for the host broadcaster to keep up with, leaving them with extra ad spots to fill. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/glut-of-demon-goals-leads-to-free-ads-for-lucky-companies-20210929-p58vtg.html

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOM SPARROW
Nice to think that there's some upside in a few players after such a big win. Sparrow is definitely one and I think Rivers has AA potential in 2023. Both however certainly did their bit at the 2021 big dance

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
Beware the Instagram celebration.... https://www.theage.com.au/national/western-australia/melbourne-demon-fans-arrested-in-regional-wa-after-sneaking-into-state-to-attend-grand-final-20210928-p58vhe.html Melbourne bar and restaurant owner Hayden Burbank and financial planner Mark Babbage have been arrested after allegedly entering Western Australia by falsely claiming to be Darwin residents and attending the AFL grand final. The pair were taken into custody in WA’s south west region on Tuesday morning after police made a public plea to find them on Monday night. A photo on the AFL’s Instagram account shows Mr Burbank, who owns Chapel Street venue Morris Jones, inside the Demons locker rooms celebrating and drinking with players after the club’s 57-year drought-breaking win at Optus Stadium on Saturday.

Jake Melksham
you may well be right but the extension of Brown suggests to me that they think Melk might go elsewhere. There's also the issue of where Bedford and Chandler fit in. We seem to have a surfeit of forwards. Down back though is another story. Cannot see Hibberd playing 22 plus games in 2022.

Merch/Memorabilia
21/11/ 21 (21 November) has a certain symmetry. It's also a Sunday. Unfortunately the 80% double vaxed moment is probably in the following week

Burning questions
From ABC radio this morning I think they had the help of at least the Fremantle cheer squad
-
Radio calls
Agree Add in a stream with players commentating plus some analysis by Goodwin and the coaching team. Would sell very well

What they're saying at Whitten Oval.
Couldn't help but chuckle at this comment not to mention the unintended pun "Sorry but this is the worst grand final performance over ever seen. This could put some long term scars. We’ll see next year. We’ve done well to get here. I’m proud of our efforts up until tonight. But we’ve clearly got a lot of mental demons to work out. We’re too weak and inconsistent." Poster had obviously never watched the 1988 and 2000 GF's 😢

Merch/Memorabilia
I suspect that most of the stuff is generic and they just add the logo etc. There are lots of these "souvenir/corporate branding"mobs around. I worked for a company that was big in giving away branded stuff and we all took joy in collecting the most esoteric/useless stuff. Bulldogs made about a quarter from its 2016 win as compared to Tigers the following year. With covid it will be interesting to see how we do. On a related note I hope Demonland issues a few of its own memorabilia. We owe it to this site.
