THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS
Dr John Dee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
That singer from the seventies. Had a few minor hits. Didn't end well, if I remember. -

Like you, Red? I know there's this thing about 'if you can remember the 60s you weren't there' but this might be taking proof of your credentials too far. -

A bit like The Old Man and the Sea perhaps. An ageing and desperate but heroic (at least in his own dreams) James Hird trying to hold all those sharks at bay with whatever Weapon (sic) he can fashion only to end up with the skeleton of a team. What greatness there might have been ... -

Dees1897... etc posted this link a while ago on another thread: http://www.heraldsun...v-1227475396992 It probably has a bit of relevance here. Whatever the rights and wrongs of Bomber's position, what's extraordinary is the style of attacks on him by the faithful in the comments section. I thought Demonland was the natural home of the ad hominem but they make us look like vagrants. -
Jack's back (Trengove, that is)

Nice effort at condescension. Pity it relies entirely on missing the point. My 'smartarse' (no need to be afraid of properly spelling your abuse) comment was directed at a post that you've now disowned twice. Stop wriggling on the pin. It will only make the hole bigger. -

Strange that the negative stuff (the stuff that Pro Dee pulled you up on) seems to have disappeared from what you stand by. Be a bit careful about how close you stand, you might disappear into a hole. -

I think you'll find that the point wasn't about permissions and approvals, but judgment, something patently lacking in your previous post. As the great American philosopher Kenny Rogers once said: "You've got to know when to hold'em." -
C'mon Ethan, you know full well that to read about Wines is to read about Toumpas. There's no other way.

Seconded. And, more to the point, where's Blanche Underhand to answer all our questions about this? People are just leaping to all sorts of unwarranted conclusions without his incisive advice. -
Actually, I don't mind this ... since it looks more like a statement about the MRP and its inconsistencies (wasn't Gibson fined $1000 only a week ago for a second striking offence for the year?) rather than some sort of endorsement of the grievous crime of wrestling.

Can't read it but the headline makes its direction obvious enough. Any specifics worth mentioning?

Verticalist!

Discounted by the Scully effect of course

I hear tell that Hird is expecting a distinct improvement from his playing group as they approach the pointy end of the season. -
At least if you're dead you might have some chance of an afterlife.

Wasn't aware that a criminologist, say, needed to have been convicted of some crime beforehand. By any measure this thread is just so far from where it started that there's little point in leaving it open for gratuitous irrelevances like the above (or the constant re-re-rehearsals of opinions on what booing means).
-
Maybe he'd had enough of another thread reduced to triviality. Well done.

There are also things like Land Rover dreaming stories, rock art depictions of Cook's ship on the east coast, Macassan boats etc in the NT. That's the thing about 'continuous culture', it continues.

He's a 'character' played by the equally unfunny Peter Helliar. Larf? My head nearly fell orf.

No need to rub it in Nasher.

I'll forgive you for not knowing what I had to put up with in the 80s and 90s from commercial tv. Sneer if you want, but this is hardly an isolated incident for me.

I couldn't watch the game yesterday and am currently being forced to watch it without any choice about Red Eddie and the other clowns. I've phoned Foxtel (no complaints allowed on weekends apparently) and tried to complain electronically but they don't allow complainants enough words to say anything coherent. I'll have to wait till tomorrow but I'm furious. There's some sh*t you get used to living in the country, but this is one dunny too many for me.

Obviously the original point of this thread is now well lost.

So you were able to conclude that there was nothing intelligent in a thread you didn't read. Yeah, right.
