That is fair comment. But there was nothing from the leaders in the 3rd quarter that showed some life had been injected into the team at half time.
-
Not sure about that Wise: Clearances: GWS 60. Melb 43 Tackles: 119. Melb 86 That says effort to me, or lack of. No excuses for that.

At 1/2 time the camera cut to our rooms. Jones, Lewis and Viney sat looking despondently and blankly into space. No talk between them or with other players. In that moment I knew we had no chance. I expect our leaders to show some energy, get around the players, especially the young ones, give them some encouragement. Show they care. Nope. Nothing. Lead and they will follow. Don't lead and we become like Brown's cows. We supporters deserve better than that from our so called leaders.

Yes, so his objectivity wasn't tested. He shouldn't sit this week either. As 'sue' said: conflict of interest.

Agreed...but we know the AFL is a law unto itself with the utmost 'integrity'...

Scott reckons Papley 'dived' after the Duncan punch! He is such a sore loser! The media are describing it as a 'push' - Duncan's right fist looks closed before and after he hit Duncan. The are softening up the MRP. Hawkins also has a couple of events that might attract MRP attention. Lets hope Bartel is not on the MRP this week. It just highlights another weakness in the MRP - recently retired players should not be there because it is their mates they review and I challenge anyone to stay objective when finals are so close. Edit: Bartel didn't sit on the MRP to decide on Dangerfield so his objectivity hasn't really been tested.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 20
Lucifers Hero replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agreed. That is the issue - they have plenty of goal kicking mids so still have plenty of scoring power. In 2015 their midfielders tore us apart with quick clearances and quick goals. We have quite a different team now but they have shown they can win games without their talls. They should not be underestimated. GWS midfield weakness is that they don't defend so well. That is a plus for us. The big test: Gawn vs Mumford. Whoever wins gives their team the edge. Both are rusty. Will be a fascinating match up. To close to pick -

Really? That is a bit personal. I always contribute to such posts with my own opinions and comments which I think are quite articulately expressed! So not sure what you are complaining about! -

David King has lost his marbles! He suggests we trade Jesse for Lever!! Don't know why some media folk make such complete fools of themselves! https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/media-watch-the-move-that-could-help-the-dees-land-jake-lever-the-mcg-tells-smokers-to-jog-on/news-story/fe0078efb26fcb8e45a222ce0ab7595c -

2016 Player Review - # 30 Alex Neal-Bullen
Lucifers Hero replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bump! http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/essendon/top-afl-forwardhalf-pressure-numbers-revealed-in-the-drill-podcast/news-story/ccfa5915beec1bedf0b446e0a486b268 While barely mentioned in the article, the tables show that ANB is second in the league for forward turnovers and scores from those turnovers. That puts him in the 'elite' category for the year. He plays the role in a true 'team first' manner as he feeds the scorers rather than score himself so misses out a bit on the accolades. The coaches would love him for performing that role so well. I think that is why he kept being selected over Kent. I think he is a bit underrated on this site in part as this his first year as a team regular and in part because his role isn't very glamorous. He hasn't re-signed which makes me wonder about whether he will stay with us. In other threads some posters put him in the 'fringe player' or 'steak knives' category. If he goes he will be worth a lot more. Other recruiters would not miss his excellent forward work and team work and would value them quite highly. The future aside, ANB has had an excellent year and thought others on here might like to see his achievements (with an aberration last Saturday). He may not become an 'elite' of the game in the media but he is certainly putting in 'elite' performances for the job he is given. He is making the most of his talents and opportunities. If we had 22 players who did that, well the sky is the limit! -
Accidentally quoted this but can't find the 'delete' post button

He plays for Melbourne and we don't sell newspapers nor are high value click bait! The Vic media plays to the big membership clubs and we ain't one of them, yet! Look at this: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/essendon/top-afl-forwardhalf-pressure-numbers-revealed-in-the-drill-podcast/news-story/ccfa5915beec1bedf0b446e0a486b268 That story is all about Tippa at Ess and Rioli and Castagna of Rich as the 1st, 4th and 5th ranked players for forward turnovers and scores from them. And who were 2nd and 3rd for both measures? None other than our very own ANB (2nd) and Jeffy (3rd)but barely a word said about them. Many of our players are underrated in the media until they can no longer ignore their elite performance eg Jetta. The article also shows what an asset ANB is for us who still goes under the radar a bit (even on this site). Its really poor by the media that very deserving players get so little exposure.

His team mate, Tom Lynch did exactly that two years ago when there was strong talk he was leaving (and if I recall the Dees were a long way down the track with him). As soon as the Crows blinked and gave him the term and $ he wanted, he couldn't sign fast enough. After the Crows blinked Lynch said: “I’ve got a young family ...I’m happy to stay at the Club – the intention was always to stay here at the Adelaide Crows". Its a game players and managers indulge. Maybe Lever is touring a few clubs...didn't his father recently connect with the bulldogs? To me Lever is still a young player with potential. Yes, potential to be elite (like many other players in our team) but doesn't really have runs on the board so I'm not yet as enamoured with him as some DL's . I would be reluctant for us to pay an 'elite' level trade value to the Crows or pay Lever an 'elite' level contract. If the reported $850K p.a. the Bulldogs are offering is true then I would walk away from the table. The only Dee player earning more than that would be Hogan (maybe Viney). Lever has a lot to prove before he gets to that level in my book. -
Sorry to be a bother...the blank space on both sides is back again today... ...do other people with firefox see the same or is it something about the settings on my version? Thanks again for all your work.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Lucifers Hero replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Its hanging on his grandparents mantle according to cousin Jeb Ross of StK, even tho Gil was adamant in was in his draw! Of course we know Gil has mastered the arts of spin, red herrings and camouflage!! See post below. -
Sort of...I was thinking 6 weeks from when the injury happened ie recovery time
-
...and the first final is 6 weeks due to extra bye week after round 23 Agree with those who say to not put Jesse on ice. With a bit of luck we make it and a bit more luck Jesse has recovered. If so he deserves the right to play, who knows when he may get another chance.

BUMP 2017 rnd 23 fixture is out http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-2017-luke-hodges-likely-farewell-to-kick-off-round-23-20170801-gxn6ei.html We play pies on Sat @ 1.45 at the G. Unfortunately it is a Foxtel game so no FTA. But on the bright side if we make finals it gives us a good break for injury recovery until first final!

Yes, thank you - the blank side spaces are gone Still get Demonland ads and the 'Recent Posts' on the right side, when in threads but can live with those. When the 'Bookmarks' side bar view is 'on' in firefox I see limited edit options eg font size, font colour, indents etc are missing. When I turn off the side bar they magically appear (most of the time). I can live with that also. Just for interest, for a few days, the thread text spread across the screen without DL ads/Recent Posts and the full set of edit options were available regardless of the Bookmarks view on/off. Cheers,

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Lucifers Hero replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
It seems Lever is very gettable! Apparently, Crows have a very strict pay scale and structure. eg reportedly offered McGovern $350,000 for 2 years (barely above the average). Offers from Freo are reported to be around $600,000 for 5 years. Unlike us where our policy is to pay around the market but not overs. The Crows offer to Lever is reportedly also well below market increasing the likelihood of him returning to Victoria! -
...and just noticed that the edit options have disappeared, even with the 'Bookmarks' Sidebar removed.
