  1. Geelong are going under the radar a little bit. They have made a few changes to youth and player roles: de Koning is doing a great job at FB which has freed up Tom Stewart who is doing a sterling job as a mid-fielder, rebounder or behind the ball. Still able to play The General. Stengle is a really damaging small forward. Great kick i50 and kicks plenty of goals. Holmes is injured but coming on in his second year. They are getting better at switching between their 'control' and their 'territory' game plans. Scott is doing a lot of experimenting with player positions and ball movement to ready for September. They will undoubtedly make the top 8 and most probably the top 4 so no harm done if they win this or not. I'd rather not see the Bulldogs in the top 8. Feel ill to tip Geelong to win...
  2. Updated for Bailey Laurie's two year contract extension.
  3. Fair enough. I dare not ask what you think of her co-commentators like Taylor, Brayshaw et al,
  4. Great focus for development: "I try not to focus on how I'm going to fit into the team or whose spot I'm going to take because I feel like if I do, it will negatively impact my performance and I'll start worrying about the wrong things. The conversations I've had with 'Goody' (coach Simon Goodwin) have been around becoming the best player I can be and when I do get my chance, I can come into the team I'll stay there and won't just be there for two weeks and get dropped. "I'm just focusing on the process of what makes me a good player and becoming a really good player and if that takes a bit longer than other people I'm more than happy with that, I'll just keep working as hard as I can." Well done for another two years!
  5. Methinks you are joking or thinking of some else. Our Daisy is a star commentator.
  6. LOL at the 'Team' announcement headlines: Demon's dump/axe four not Demons recall 4 premiership players! Talk about going for the negative/click bait headline
  7. Seriously, the side and snide references are completely unnecessary and poor form. Thanks for changing your post.
  8. Thanks Rob, you're a gem! I'm great. Lots of water under the bridge in the last few years, eh? Hope LA is still great for you.
  9. I think coming back via Casey depends on how long a player has been in the system. After 5-6 pre-seasons and played most games per year they are 'battle hardened' and as long as their rehab has been thorough which I undoubtedly think our medic/sports scientists make sure it is, they come back in. A player with a lesser body of work would come back via Casey. In Salem's case, even a 70% match fit Salem is far better than most other players at 90%.
  10. That is true but woe betide a player who gets within tackling distance - they stay down while Salem keeps his feet and takes off, at not great speed, with the ball.
  11. Its made worse by stretching it out by doing the ranking in lots of 5 rather than 10. A few paras summarising each video would be most welcome but the AFL seems to want us to watch their boring commentators on videos and podcasts. Who has that much time or interest.
  12. 🤔 My post noted his injuries: "...attributed to his pre-season foot injury and the corked thigh a month or so ago...". I was defending not critcising him.
  13. I'm struggling with the thought of listening to Lloyd for 15 minutes or so. Would someone mind posting where he has ranked Demon players🙏
  14. It really surprised me that Lever was identified as the Demon https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2022-players-who-need-to-lift-from-every-club-biggest-ratings-drop-off-analysis-down-on-form/news-story/d818efb5dfa214c5aa637d5e5d594ff1 JAKE LEVER (MELBOURNE ) 2021 Games: 25 2021 Rating Points: 12.8 2022 Games: 7 2022 Rating Points: 7.2 Change -44% The biggest drop off for Lever from 2021 has been his intercept marks (4.1 to 1.7) and intercept possessions (10.3 to 6.6), while as a result he’s recording less disposals overall. But still one of the premier defenders in the competition, Lever has set a much higher standard than most other defenders in the competition. To my eye this 'drop off' hasn't been noticeable. Some could be attributed to his pre-season foot injury and the corked thigh a month or so ago both of which would affect his leap and speed to get to a contest. But I'm inclined to think opps are trying to reduce his influence by not kicking high or isolating him away from their attacking lanes reducing the intercept opportunities. imv there are various players I would have chosen before Lever. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to watch how the season pans out. But tbh if the team continues playing the way we are one stat for one player doesn't amount to much.
  15. I 100% understand it is not about draft pick number. Have another look at the post I was responding to. Kent'was implying JT messed up by picking Weideman and not McKay or Curnow. Drating is a bit of a lottery as my examples showed. Draftees don't always work out as the club or fans would like.
  16. JT can't get every pick right. In that 2015 draft: #2 Josh Schache - Key forward. Played 68 games. Not tin regular 22. Trade to WB #6 Aaron Francis - Key forward. Played 54 games. Not in regular 22. In the 2014 draft: #1 Paddy McCartin - Key forward. Played 45 games. At Sydney And neither does everyone else. Overall JT has done a fantastic job!!
  17. Probably not much. Just rolling the dice that marquis players don't get suspended. They play! Nothing to lose but a mere $10,000.
  18. Yes, especially when other contenders are loosing good players.
  19. Yes, I got that wrong! Apology to @FritschyBusiness
  20. Last week Buddy got 4 of his 5 goals against a kid who had played less than 10 games. Not saying he won't kick a heap vs us but he can be contained. Play or not we have time to prepare.
  21. I think it was during the Freo game before the result was known. The poster feared we would take the loss out on Sydney.
  22. Draft order herein https://www.womens.afl/news/94642/what-picks-does-your-club-have-indicative-draft-order-revealed?_ga=2.79748183.1539775283.1651801920-1058869341.1629262583 Saints have an extra 1st round pick (but lost their 3rd round) and the GCS have an extra end of 2nd round pick - special assistance apparently. WCE also seem to have a draft pick upgrade. Dees, Adelaide and LIons forfeited first round picks for not giving away enough players to total the 28 pts iirc we anticipated the dilution of picks in this expansion draft and made some good trades for high picks two years ago so forfeiting a pick int he mid - 20's this year is no great loss.
  23. As if Goodwin or any of the players are going to say half the team was ill! They respect the opps and Freo deserved to be respected. Longmuir saw that Petracca and Petty were hampered, that May was off. He made all the right moves at half time to take advantage of them. A lesser coach may not have made the right moves. Goodwin is no Chris Scott who bleated illness after the Prelim. While true, we annihilated them and he came across as a sour grapes, sore loser. Not sure he gave us any credit in the post game press conf either. We deserved more respect. I'm pleased the club has kept the illness close.
  24. Review undertaken at the end of 2020 by the same people who are doing this review. No idea what they expect will be different. This has 'scapegoat' vibes around it - maybe Dodoro and assistant coaches! They are hoping to do a Thompson, Hardwick, Goodwin assistant coach change that then delivers a premiership very quickly thereafter. But tey do reviews, fiddle around the edges and get rid of someone: Neeld, Worsfold and now others but they don't solve the underlying problems because they refuse to acknowledge their messed up recent history and won't look past their sense of entitlement.
  25. BB was a 'close contact' and the rules changed just after he came out of covid protocols. Close contacts no longer need to isolate. So Lever, Viney, Jackson, Petty, ANB, Pickett and Sparrow all had covid.
