  1. The AFL podcast this morning had Freo way ahead of WCE with a 'lure' for Jackson. Hate to pass on some depressing info. Freo do not have a 2nd or 3rd round pick this year. Currently they have #15 and #71. For future picks they can only trade out their first round pick if they have a pick in every other round (either their natural pick or a traded in pick). This reduces flexibility to use any 2023 draft currency. They have signed up every player worth trading for. Lets hope Jackson's friendship with Nic Nat is strong and Jackson picks WCE should he leave the dees.
  2. I really don't know why people 'shoot the messenger' whether that messenger is Wilson or someone else. They report what they are told so blame the people who are giving info to Wilson and others. The 'leakers' are the ones who have an agenda. If not why would they leak info about their club or players. At least Wilson cross checks her info which is an AFL rarity.
  3. I daresay we will be looking for a Daw replacement. Bell looks a good prospect and he seems to have the right attitude. As a delisted player we can just add him to our rookie list as we did Daw, (a preseason selection) without going through a draft. Or take him as a DFA later in the year into the senior list, again without going through a draft.
  4. It would have to be tallied manually from the weekly reports. Given the voting by Max, Clayton and Christian (amid 3 club losses) I would guess Jack's votes are less than 20.
  5. McKay and Curnow will be Restricted Free Agents next year so there would be no need to trade. However, they both seem very committed and passionate coming into a finals then premiership window, playing with mates so not sure why they would leave to join a similarly positioned club. Money unlikely to be a motivator. As we like to think of our players in that way and to forfeit some $, I would be surprised if McKay and Curnow don't feel the same.
  6. Of course not. He has already admitted he made a poor decision. So no deal before pre hearing, imv They could do a deal, go to the Tribunal and AFL counsel proposes a 'light' penalty in what would amount to a mock hearing. I wouldn't put anything past the AFL.
  7. Is this just media talk or is it allowed. itewart-urged-to-strike-a-deal-over-prestia-bump-20220627-p5awzr.html "Geelong defender Tom Stewart ..., as he was urged to strike a deal with the AFL in a bid to avoid an extended suspension." Chris Scott laid the groundwork straight after the match saying it was a 'bump' which was 'poorly executed'! Doesn't referral to the Tribunal mean just that? It will be a total joke if the AFL decide this given they laid the charge in the first place. Let a panel decide. Not the Geelong coach's twin bro and cohorts who love 'secret herbs and spices' decisions.
  8. The Coll President doesn't get it either. An article about a De Goey 'joke': jeff-browne-joke-about-jordan-de-goey-at-collingwood-aflw-awards- A Coll sponsor reaction: “I couldn’t believe what I was hearing at first. “I turned to the person next to me and said: ‘Did he really just make a Jordan De Goey joke?’ “And they just shook their heads in disbelief. “It was so disrespectful. It would always be inappropriate, but on a night to celebrate the women’s team, it was just appalling. “I can’t imagine how the players felt having their season and achievements reduced to a joke.” Another said: “I can’t believe he would be stupid enough to say that.’’ Is it any wonder De Goey didn't learn from NY. And no wonder a sponsor, Emirates asked for a 'please explain' of the club re their reaction to the Bali trip. Apparently De Goey is sulking and peeved off with how Coll treated him over the Bali trip. Presumably peeved about his lucrative contract taken off the table and/or getting him to make apologetic statements.
  9. Coach Split: 5/5 Viney 4/4 Lever 3/2 Petracca and Oliver 1/0 Jordon 1/o Jackson All quite even bar the 1 vote. Oliver has broken away from the pack on the Leaderboard. Would have to be leading the Brownlow at this stage. He has been very consistent. 11 votes ahead of his nearest rival is a decent lead. Will check the Brownlow leader board after round 15 and see how big the gap is between the coaches and the umpires.🙄
  10. While most commentators had Stewart as BOG. One coach saw it differently. He got 4/0. No guesses who gave him zero. 9 Liam Baker (RICH) 6 Tyson Stengle (GEEL) 5 Mark Blicavs (GEEL) 4 Tom Stewart (GEEL) 2 Cameron Guthrie (GEEL) 2 Tom J Lynch (RICH) 1 Zach Tuohy (GEEL) 1 Jeremy Cameron (GEEL)
  11. That doesn't sound like the od with a recent return of FCSS. Or has someone hijacked your account od?☺️
  12. Its about who we will beat in the GF (Send TIC so as not to tempt fate)
  13. Nice of Scott to defend Stewart. To me it sounded like a well orchestrated 'he is such a good fella' PR campaign. I would normally agree about 'an accident'. It was no accident. Stewart may not have intended to hit him where he did and send him for six but the action was as deliberate as it gets. An earlier post: Prestia's feet hadn't landed on the ground. He was total exposed. Stewart didn't slow down or try to avoid contact. He wasn't bracing. The point where Stewart hit Prestia appeared close to where Phil Hughes was hit (on the neck). Given Prestia's prone body it was no ordinary hit. If the Tribunal gives any thought 'potential to do damage' they need to make a statement regardless of who it is. Regardless, of the MRO classification it was highly dangerous.
  14. 2000 GF dees say 'hello'.
  15. Final Ladder per the Fox Footy predictor PROJECTED FINAL LADDER 1. Melbourne (15.55 projected wins) 2. Geelong Cats (15.1) 3. Brisbane Lions (14.95) 4. Fremantle (14.45) 5. Carlton (14.25) 6. Sydney Swans (14) 7. Collingwood (13.15) 8. Richmond (13) 9. Western Bulldogs (12.2) the-run-home-after-round-15-predicted-ladder
  16. Thank you. I take back that part of what I said. Part of me still feels feel Geelong could have shown more public concern about Prestia's welfare given how vocal they have been about defending Stewart.
  17. A good example of remorse is when Aaron vdb accidently collided with Mihocek. He texted him to check he was ok. Then sent a personal apology note and a bottle of wine to Mihocek's partner. Stewart's and his club's reaction has been selfish and totally self-serving. Even the 'mea culpa' and 'I'll pay the price' comments were self-serving: I made a mistake. But where is the apology! Prestia's family must have been beside themselves. Seeing him contorted on the ground was a sickening sight. That no-one from the club has come out and shown care for Prestia is disgraceful.
  18. 'Reckless' no longer exists. It is 'careless' or 'deliberate'.
  19. A summary of The Run Home: My thoughts: We have a harder fixture than all others playing teams 2 to 5 and teams 7 and 8. ' We will make top 4 and a very good chance of top 2. Beat Freo, Lions and Blues and we stifle their chances of top 2. Cats will be top 2 🤮 whether we beat them or not. Want to beat them because of their smugness and lack of respect. The team most likely to drop out of the top 4 is Freo. Lions don't look too safe in the top 4 given the way they played last week. Ironically two teams that can make top 4 due to their easy run home are Carlton and Collingwood. If they do, on my reckoning, top 4 first final will be in Melbourne. Win or lose the first final, all our finals could be in Melbourne. Tigers will replace Bulldogs in the final 8 because of their much easier draw. On the assumption of 15 wins for top 4 Tigers are unlikely to make top 4 🙃☺️. 16 wins could be enough for top 2!! %'age will then be significant.
  20. Gleeson makes a case that Stewart should have been referred directly to the Tribunal and no grading scale (careless, severe, high) applied thereby leaving it open to the Tribunal to consider the circumstances stewart-s-strife But the MRO/Football Manager rating leaves it open to the Cats to argue that it wasn't 'severe' based on other cases. Can't see the AFL now arguing it should have been rated 'deliberate.' Showing my cynicism but could it be that the Footy Manager was looking after his twin bro by rating it at all. On a related note, while Stewart was apparently upset at 'letting the team down' and supposedly a real good fellow I haven't seen an apology to Prestia or a reference to Stewart checking he was/is ok.
  21. I'm interested but I've been out all day.
  22. Don't relish ploughing through Scott's press conf/media appearance videos again, tbh...will do my best to find it.
  23. tbh I haven't looked at those charts much as it is but one methodology and no one knows if we are using that methodology. Chris Scott said on AFL 360 that they have chosen the bye for loading which sounds like a 'convenient window' thus suggesting they are not using 'periodisation' charts/methodology. On your last point, I've never doubted that we undertake loading. Just haven't been convinced that it was in rounds 9-10 and that it 'mainly' explains ours losses (Similar thoughts on Freo's and Lion's) pre bye.
  24. Had the umpires stopped play for the 3 minutes it needn't have decided the game. Geelong got a goal in that time while Tigers were a person down. It is a big surprise that the '4th' umpire didn't talk to those on the ground through the headphones to stop the game. Not just for fairness but it was dangerous as play was going on around Prestia and the medicos. Someone must have told the umpires to smarten up as when Baker was hit head high later in the game they stopped play.
  25. A not so small item of interest. The other top 4 sides (Cats, Lions, Freo) play only 1 top 4 side for the rest of the season: The Demons. Win those and we go an extra game up on them. Ditto if we beat Carlton (5th).
