I told my family at the end of last season that even if I was on life support, I would want them to take me to this game. I am battling a head cold with no voice at present but pouring the honey and lemon drinks down now as I speak. My husband and daughter (Collingwood supporters) and BF (Essendon supporter) are coming with me and very interested to do so - I didnt have to twist anyones arm to come with me. I hope we stick it to GWS.

This has bought back so many memories. My dad used to take me to see Oakleigh play back in the late 60s and 70s and I clearly remember being in awe of Big Bob. During the quarter and three quarter huddles, Dad used to put his hands over my ears to protect me from the language - oh those were the days. So glad he has been honored.

I am in Bali at the moment and this is the first match I have missed this season. The Australian channel here was showing the Carlton vs Port Adelaide game and I was keeping track of the score on my iPhone via Footy Live. I was so happy I thought I was going to burst. I jumped up and down on the bed and shed a tear or two. I sang the song with great gusto. Well done boys - very, very proud. I have recorded the game so can't wait to watch it when I get home. The icing on the cake was seeing Carlton get smashed.

I agree. I am off to the game on Sunday with 14 Carlton supporters and my husband (Collingwood supporter). I am going to have to develop very thick skin for this one. I hope the boys give me something to cheer about. Even though most of the Carlton supporters are friends and work collegues, I am feeling a bit daunted.....

I also have a good feeling about today being our first win for the season. I also read Gary Lyon's article today with interest. I hope that the boys do us all proud. I have changed my plans today so I can be home in front of the TV at 4.40pm. Go Dees!!

Not flawed just honest about our list. I have looked at every other team and with lower draft picks than us they ALL have 3 or 4 really great players we have none. How many Melbourne players have been all Australian selections in the last decade easily the least of any AFL team-why? Look at our forward line Bate, Pettard and Dunn have had numerous chances and aren't good enough. Let's be honest we have the most mediocre list in the AFL.

Name one gun player recruited in the last eight years? The Carlton and Richmond players that I mentioned were all round one draft picks. Our round one draft picks have been Gysberts, Nathan Jones, Jack Watts, Matthew Bate, Cale Morton, Colin Sylvia, Lyndon Dunn, Sam Blease and James Seller. Hardly a consistent quality player amongst them. Therefore I blame the recruiters! Where is our Luke Hodge, Martin, Murphy, Penlebury, Cotchin, Ziebell etc, etc ...........????

Let's face it, in eight years and numerous first round draft picks, MFC has not achieved one gun player. In the same era that saw Carlton get Murphy, Gibbs and Kruezer, and Richmond get Delidio, Cotchin and Martin we have got Dunn, Pettard and Tapscott. Where was the foresight?????
