Viney's already an elite of the competition.
-
No, really. You have the rest of Demonland to be unerringly negative.
-
We have a reasonable record against this mob under Roosy. One great win and a reasonable defeat where we kicked ourselves out of it - both over there. I reckon we can take it right up them - should be a ripper. A win keeps our slim finals hopes alive.

Please read the thread title SWYL.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Ricky P replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know a young bloke from Mildura who went to the GWS academy. He now plays Irymple twos. -
If it's true that Howe went to Collingwood because he supported them as a kid, then I actually reckon he deserves credit for being motivated by something other than money and on-field success.
-
That really is an awesome trading period.

Plus Oliver!

Just like we did in the last quarter against GWS when Hogan kicked 3 after a pretty ordinary day and Watts flicked the switch. Nah, but it was just cos GWS didn't kick straight.

Footy journos can barely speak English. What does "better than average" mean? Average of what?
-
It isn't beyond the realms of possibility that both St Kilda and Melbourne are getting better at around the same pace. It doesn't have to be one or the other.
-
Don't know why people keep discounting this result. GWS are awesome and we've beaten them the last two times we've played them. Apart from all the times we beat top sides, we never beat top sides...
-
Yeah, we would never beat Geelong. Oh...
-
Agree - I think we are a big chance against Adelaide. Then the next few after that are very winnable. Hopefully we win enough to keep us in the race going into the last month. Would be very exciting!

Dees are looking good. 6-8 blokes that could be champions and the rest seem like they're being trained to play the right way and be good role players. Financially we seem to be in a good spot, membership slowly creeping up, match attendances pretty good, sponsorship reasonable. Would love PJ to stay forever but if and when he does leave, I'm sure he'll have a solid succession plan in place. We definitely could still make the finals. It's unlikely, but it's possible. OMG I would love that so much - every time I think about it I get goosebumps! I have this vision that we'll be playing GWS away in the first final and twenty thousand Melbourne supporters will de-camp to Sydney Showgrounds to show those pretenders what history and passion really means!

It's kind of a shame Freo have sort of come good. Hopefully it was a once-off.

That's interesting. I'm pretty sure he's listed in the best for the 2000 GF. Kicked 2.3 including two bad misses in the first quarter. Was killing Fletcher early but wasn't making him pay because he missed those two shots. Would've been quite a good game had he: 1) kicked straight 2) knocked someone's head off

Harsh on Neita - all Australian in two different key positions, Coleman medal winner and grand final captain.
-
Surely we'll beat St Kilda next time. We just cannot keep losing to those spuds.
-
I reckon we'll win 10. But if we beat the crows at the g next match, we're still a sneaky chance of making the finals.
-
haha yeah he's there mate in my 'potential to be elite' category!

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned this yet: the biggest existential threat to the upward trajectory of the current crop is the question of whether or not Goodwin can coach!

I reckon you're elite if you're in the top 10% in your position. I reckon the following players are elite: Gawn Viney I reckon the following players have the potential to be elite: Brayshaw Oliver Hogan McDonald Petracca I reckon the following players have a slight chance of being elite: Salem Tyson I think Vince and Jones are on the next rung down from being elite. B+. I reckon if you're elite for a number of years in a row, you become a champion. And I reckon you need 6 champions to win a flag.

Para 1 - Nope, misogyny is killing a woman because you hate women. You can kill a woman and not hate women. In this instance, you are not a misogynist. Same applies to jokes about the subject. Para 2 - My argument is that jokes don't have a substantive impact on the level of domestic violence in society. No-one commits an act of domestic violence because they heard a joke about it. Your example is a story about rapists making jokes about rape during and after committing a rape. It doesn't address my argument in the slightest. Para 3 - I already clicked on your link to the government's website. In my initial post I mentioned that I didn't agree with the government's view on this. A link to a website containing material I had already found to be unconvincing is hardly likely to make me change my mind. If the link between jokes and domestic violence is so clear then I'm surprised you can't outline it yourself instead of referring me to third party material. As I've been saying all day, the notion that off-colour jokes have caused or enabled a single case of domestic violence to take place is laughable.
