  1. So to answer the question of the thread: Green out. Not sure who should come in. Best performed medium or small forward because we really lacked a crumber against the filth. I think the current group have been reasonable for three weeks and we should stick with them. As supporters we always say we can live with mistakes, but we can't live with lack of effort. Well, the effort's there at the moment.
  2. Unless Green is taking the two or three chances he gets at goals, there's no point him being in the team. He can't do the things we need him to do defensively as a forward and he's certainly not a big or mobile target. If he was a jagging a couple each week you'd probably keep him there but he doesn't have that touch of class anymore. I've always liked Greeny and he's been a good servant of the club. Not sure what his contract status is, but I reckon he's finished.
  3. Very few successful teams don't have one or two nasty pr!cks in them. That's all I'll say.
  4. Not exactly lines, but these groups were pretty good: 94 spine: Lyon, Schwarz, Stynes, Neitz, Wight 94 half back line: Prymke, Neitz, B. Lovett 94 forward line that contained: Schwarz, Lyon, Charles, Lovell, Pike (all at their best) 98 forward line that contained: Lyon, Neitz, Schwarz, Farmer, Robertson and a resting Jeff White. The 98 side was the best Melbourne side I've ever seen. I was too young to remember the late 80s early 90s though.
  5. I like the optimism of the OP but I reckon 5 or 6. We'll probably drop one that we should win and win one we shouldn't.
  6. The fact that this win was a close one against a really good side is very significant given we only beat poor sides last year.
  7. The disrespect shown for the Board and for Cameron Schwab by many on this website is disgusting. Off the field we are stronger than we have ever been. People forget that in 2008 we almost closed our doors. Undoubtedly Jimmy drove this transformation, but the Board and the CEO were his key appointments and were vitally important in everything we have achieved. For the media to overlook these achievements is one thing, but for supporters to do the same is utterly scandalous. Yes, we all wish the team was doing better. But how the team is going is a secondary concern for the Board and CEO. The financial viability of the club is their first job. And you can't argue with their performance in that respect. The team will get better. I'm thankful that I have a team to watch at all and one day I'll take my kids and grandkids to watch them play as well. I will always be thankful for Jimmy, the Board and Cameron Schwab for saving my club.
  8. Jack's played well in the last two weeks. He's coming along well and will be a very good player. To be honest, he turned the corner last year and became a good player for us. This whole question over his value is just a media beat-up that some supporters have bought into. Yes, sometimes he doesn't go as hard as he should, but often he does. To be honest, I was pretty soft in my early twenties (at a much, much, much, much lower level). This Carlton moron near me yesterday kept saying, 'Get a kick, Jack' every time he got it. It was funny how many times he had to say it throughout the day!
  9. Didn't read past the OP. I assume this has already been said but just in case it hasn't: Utter. Crap.
  10. Yesterday was a big step in the right direction. We'll win comfortably.
  11. I agree Dee man. There was a definite change in the way we were moving the ball from the early rounds. It was more reminiscent of how we moved it under Bailey rather than simply kicking it long down the line. Hopefully this continues to happen in the future because at times over the last two years, we have moved it as well as anyone. The intensity and pressure that we played with in the first quarter against Hawthorn and in the first three quarters yesterday is what I would call the Neeld factor. We actually put really good sides under pressure and even bullied them a bit. I see genuine cause for optimism. It's just a case of doing it consistently.
