Ray Chamberlain just reminding everybody why he’s still the biggest [censored] of an umpire in a very high quality field.

TEAMS: Rd 23 vs Geelong
The more I think about the Smith in the more confident I am that this is Goodwin testing the the idea that clubs will go tall against us to counter out intercept marking. We at least have a plan for that, and Geelong is the most likely team to want to try this theory - as their best forward line is tall. A lot to learn from this weekends game.

Mac Andrew
JT is right here. Is Mac getting better because of the effort the Dees have put into him? and does that discourage clubs from putting effort into these kids - and therefore make the Academies meaningless? It’s a ‘half pregnant’ plan the AFL has created.

COVID & AFL 2021
Well first of all - Congrats! I hope the wedding day is fun, and you snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and enjoy it as much as you can. But I think the bigger question here is did you doubt the Demons finals capabilities by planning for a September wedding, or are you going for a ‘month of glory’ concept?

Finals 2021
So if I understand this correctly Brisbane finish 5th, and (assuming they win) then play a home game, and then neutral games where both teams have to travel all the way through. Melbourne finish 1st and have to travel every week. Brisbane are the huge winners out of this.

Finals 2021
I don’t understand why this isn’t being reported on properly. As pointed out above we have a very good example of what we get if we move the games away - we get 10,000 supporters. 6,000 of whom aren’t that phased about the result. So we sacrifice the integrity, and ultimately the point, of the preceding 23 rounds so that a few thousand people can go? It’s obvious that the AFL is pushing its broadcast partners to make this seem like a good idea, but can’t some other journalist stand up and actually lay out the facts? It makes a joke of the regular season.

CHANGES: Rd 23 vs Geelong
Do we have any indication on crowds in Geelong this week? Has it definitely been ruled out?

Majak Daw off-the-ball incident
It’s only match simulation so it’s viewed as training, as no one is awarded 4 points. You can bet the standard of umpiring is better though.

Angus Brayshaw
And I was thinking how confusing the modern game is because players line up on against each other at stoppages and then go in completely different directions and sides of the ground. Fooled us both! 👍

Finals 2021
If someone knows anyone that is CoVID positive have them take a poo in a box and ship it down to my sister in Geelong. She’ll flush it for the Demons. Result = Covid in the sewerage system, Kardinia off the table for finals, neutral footy fans happy. Honestly, the club should make me a consultant.

Finals 2021
Everyone in the media keeps waffling on about The Derby as some sort of proof of how good the finals will be in WA. If Melbourne play the Bulldogs in finals in Perth I can’t see more than 20k attending (if it’s not the GF), and half of them will be impartial types who won’t make much noise and spend half the time at the bar. That’s what I’d be doing if I scored tickets to Freo Vs the Eagles at Marvel, and that’s if I could be bothered going. Is it really worth it? What’s been the point of the season if the teams that have earned the right to host games at their venues don’t get the option?

Tom turns the ball over a lot. I rewatched the game tonight (Lockdown good times) and his kicking was really poor. I hope that’s just due to exposure and fitness. He can get it ok. Harmesy on the other hand. His kicking was diabolical for a player of his experience.

Angus Brayshaw
That’s interesting because I just watched the replay and saw them line up against each other.

What would you do for the club if we won the flag?
I’d get an ET tattoo.

Angus Brayshaw
Langdon matched up on Seedsman almost all day, and specifically in the first quarter. Both teams wanted to use the wing those 2 were on all game. Angus plays the defensive wing and does a lot of running purely for the team. He’s an important role player for the team. The stats don’t tell you the whole story.

COVID & AFL 2021
I was so angry when I saw that video on Twitter last night. I live literally in Ripponlea village. The orthodox community surround us. My partner has MS and is in a high risk category (double jabbed thanks to the wonders of medical science). This is not even the fifth time members of these communities have been caught doing the wrong thing. From what I see on Twitter, backing up what you said here Jaded, the broader Jewish community are FURIOUS about this. They have already begun naming and shaming all the people recognisable in that video (one of them was a DOCTOR!). They won’t stand for it, but nor should they. It was outrageously selfish behaviour. Good luck to the couple involved now. You won’t be able to Google them for 25 years without learning about this. 21st century justice.

And they drink Fireball. Cinnamon flavoured booze. What are you - 12? 🤢

Finals 2021
There’s so much more to still play out. If you had told me 3 weeks ago we’d fly around the country for no game, then come back to Melbourne to play an ‘away’ game against the Suns, then quarantine for 7 days only to have a game stopped because of lightning I’d have told you to stop eating mushrooms and get a job ya hippie! Its a week by week proposition. What happens if Delta sings her way to WA? What happens if a WA team goes on a run and then all of sudden get a huge advantage by finishing lower and is gifted home finals? What happens if we have a nation wide lockdown again? My advice is to stay nimble, accept that it’s all a moving feast, and have some confidence that the club has clearly prepared for anything.

Watching Essendon play on Channel 7 the last month you’d be forgiven for thinking they’re 5 games clear on top of the ladder. The fawning 🤢

POSTGAME: Rd 22 vs Adelaide
I disagree with this. This is the true beauty of freedom of speech. You get to see how people react when filled with emotion. I find it quiet insightful. Honestly some of the game day commentary is ridiculous. Calling it out is valid. I’d do it at the ground if a supporter was having a crack at our players the way some do in the game day thread. I don’t see it any differently just because it’s online.
