  1. That was epic. What a season. Now would not be a good time for me to wander on over to the ‘Arrogant fan’ thread.
  2. Trade week. I’ve never seen so many media pundits write so much about so many unexciting fringe players. Callum Coleman Jones swaps places with Robbie Tarrant! What next? I won’t be able to sleep.
  3. Love it!
  4. I find it interesting that he lists Bedford as a potential A/B, but Chandler as a ‘needs more time’. I feel like he’s making this up as he goes. I doubt very much he knows much about either. All of that is relatively excusable, except for the fact that this is his actual job. If I was this bad at my work I’d get fired (and I work for myself).
  5. I hope Luke gets a good run at it. I don’t think he’s been happy for a while at the Saints, and he probably watched Ben Brown in the finals and thought ‘I’ll have a bit of that’. Cost us nothing, covers a hole in the list perfectly. Well done all.
  6. Arrogance isn’t rooted in fact. It’s not arrogant to believe we are the greatest football team of any era. Watch the last minute of the third quarter and try disprove it. 😉 I think we can be as arrogant as we want as long as it’s done in good humour. Footy fans are genuinely good natured and love a laugh. I’d imagine most would encourage us to carry on like pork chops while we can. We’ve earned it, and they know it.
  7. Such a great point, and it’s all been made even more important with the lack of footy for developing players over the last 2 years. We play a system at all levels, and the better it’s mimicked at Casey the better it is for everyone.
  8. Good idea for all. I’m assuming his playing payments come from a separate pool, which means he earns more and it doesn’t hurt their soft cap for more than a part time role - yet will spend a good amount of time in the job. He’s got a bright future Nev. So happy for him.
  9. Number 1 is a casual 7 years passed his best. Number 2 won’t be there for the first 5-6 weeks of 2022 if there’s any justice. Number 3 only shows up when he wants, and if there’s not a stray teenager on offer. So yeah, not a great list.
  10. I am entirely convinced that Melbourne loaded heavy after the bye, and the Bulldogs loaded heavy running into the finals. Both were the better teams all year. Geelong have skewed data because of their home ground. No season is perfect, but ours was as close to perfect a finals series as you’ll get. It was remarkable. The only game we looked in for a battle in we won by 74 points.
  11. I’m watching the Prelim on Fox now too. With 10 minutes to play in the 3rd the commentary is ‘what an amazing 16 minutes by Melbourne’. And to think it got better. Ridiculous. We have been blessed to see this team.
  12. He loved the win, but will love it even more when all the ridiculous premiership merchandise we got him and his brother turns up. 10 year olds like cheeseboards right? 🤣
  13. Ok, I thought of a great/terrible one for all the Coolio fans in the house…. ‘As I walk through the Clarry of the shadow of death’ Ill stop now, I promise.
  14. I really like it when people do bad puns featuring players names. Pick a player, make a pun. Eg. Hung, Gawn and Quartered Technicolour Gawn The darkest hour is right before the Gawn The Thrill is Gawn The dumber the better please.
  15. After North offered him that contract they treated Ben very, very poorly. That’s worth a lot more than you can know - until you are free of that situation. I make about half of what I was making a few years ago. I love what I do now. I’m happier, more focussed, and feel like I offer more than I did in my previous job. There’s no amount of money that could get me to go back to my previous job, because I was treated poorly. Besides, my hips don’t have the flexibility to get back on the pole now anyways.
  16. Love this!
  17. And here comes the Federal and NSW government’s trying to knock us off the front page. Disgraceful!
  18. This is one of the reasons why I became a lifetime subscriber to Demonland after the weekend. I have waited a lifetime to enjoy this, so I’ll come here and do it! Support the Demonland folks and get on board. Literally all of my favourite supporter moments of our premiership year have been on here.
  19. Well that settles it. Tracc is clearly a PS5 man. Cop that Xbox.
  20. I honestly think he coaches in an outdated way. He relies a lot on an ‘us vs. the world’ mentality, which can get you going, but as you say is very hard to sustain. All that stuff after the prelim about how they were so disappointed that the video of them celebrating had been released, and then taking shots at anyone who had said Treloar was under performing in a different role. It all just felt like they needed to create a feeling of being backed into a corner. You don’t need to play on emotion, you just need to play for the team, and sometimes that’s actually about calming down and focusing simply on the next moment.
  21. This is a bit of a long story, but bear with me. I am the most cyclical of Demons supporters, but I knew we’d win the flag this year, and I know exactly when I knew. April 24th. It was the night we beat Richmond. I was sitting with my 11 year old nephew on his couch in Brisbane. I’d gone up to visit my nephews, and sister in law, as my brother died of cancer last year 4 days before Christmas. He was only 50. Diagnosed in June. Lifelong Dees fan. Was heartbreaking. After we smashed the Tigers and Jonesy was carried off the ground I noticed my nephew had a little tear in his eye. I asked him if he was ok, and he said he was worried. He said he didn’t want the Demons to win the flag this year, because it seemed cruel that they would win it the next season after his dad died. That was when I knew. I’ve supported this club for all of my 43 years on earth, and only the Demons could win the flag in such heartbreaking circumstances. I told my dad, whose 73, and his instant reaction was ‘oh [censored]. We’ll win it now’. It just seemed very Melbourne. During the game I’d held it together until about 6 minutes to go and then it got to me. I was a mess. After the game my Victorian family FaceTimed me - being in regional Vic they were able to be together. When I picked up they sang the song to me. I felt so alone in that moment, as so much of my life as a supporter had been with them. It was so thoughtful of them to call me and do that, as they know how much the Demons mean to me. After we hung up I cried again. I called my nephews and we had a cry together too. We cried for what we had seen, and for who didn’t see it. Footy is a funny thing. It allows us to connect across generations in a way that few things do. I’m very lucky to have had the Demons in my life, if for no other reason than they have helped keep me closer to people that matter - week after week, season after season. I loved Saturday night. I was very happy to feel so emotional. It made me feel alive, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
  22. I still plan to do a lot of apologising… ’I’m sorry September is so hard for you’ ’Sorry, and I agree, it does seem unfair that we have so many great young players’ ’Excuse us. We just seem to get it done when it counts’ I’m nothing if not gracious.
  23. I just heard on the radio they are to be retained in custody until their court date in 2 weeks. That’s a fair commitment of time, along with the fine they’ll get.
  24. I hope their risk assessment included a month in jail. The WA government is jailing 1 in 6 CoVID breaches. This is the most high profile.
