His currency is not worth the sale, keep and develop as best as possible. I've always defended jack, but a couple efforts this year had me ready to put my foot through my tv. But I still say keep him

The reason hawks, syd, Coll, etc young players develop into guns and ours generally fail is because they have older experienced quality players who train at the highest quality and intensity to imitate. They are forced to be better. We have very few who drag the younger players along with them in the right direction. In my opinion, we have kids already, let's take a risk and get another player (top 5 in the comp at that) to lead and educate them. Kids can't teach kids

We had all pretty much conceded Clark was quitting, losing him for nothing. To get HL for nothing is a good deal. -
How's is this thread still running?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT

The article on afl says "he managed only 12 goals in 9 games in 2014", that would nearly win our goal kicking in just 9 games. Very happy, Just read he averaged 2 goals and 3.5 tackles a game. He strikes me as a slightly fragile personality which would/did struggle under a [censored] like malthouse. But roos could make all the difference and at 25 he could be primed for it -

Massive win if we get him.... Pace and pressure to go with JKH and kent developing. Lumumba off half back getting it in quickly to give hogan and butters a chance.... Developing mid field..... This is the time of year to be a melbourne supporter -
Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]
tappysquads replied to Dr evil's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dalhaus is in his way to being a gun. I would be amazed if we could pull off 3 for dalhaus + 6. He has a very similar game to Cyril, but can now go through the guts and collects more possessions than rioli, just lacks the explosiveness of rioli, but so does everyone Would make a great duo with JkH -
Vince was a b n f winner, varcoe has struggled for a game for as long as I can remember, and has an embarrassing highlight real in finals. Soft would be a compliment for the way he plays. Anyone but him! Morton, tambling, jake king, fevola, anyone!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA

Other way round pal, as he is contracted he has every right to reject a trade. Absolutely stoked to read Someone chose to come to melbourne. Not only to I think we desperately need a line breaking half back, but it shows any other players remotely considering melbourne that an AA player at one of the biggest most successful clubs of the last 10 years wants to play for us. The fact that he has gone early and announced it is even better. As for those saying he is just a slight improvement on terlich etc...... Our hbf would not get a game at any other club in the afl, grimes included. This guy's resume slaps our half back line in the face -
He could easily have said I'm not leaving Adelaide, but he didn't, left the door wide open, I love this city, love playing for this club, ....... But. I don't think he will leave this year. I think like most others he will wait til he's a free agent and then select the club of his choice. You don't become as good as danger is without being extremely competitive, and fierce competitors don't like losing, so why would he risk being traded to a club like melbourne. He will wait until the end of next year and go to one of the big clubs. I'm a massive mfc and danger fan, but he will never pull on the red and blue, why would he?

Excuse the random music over the top, But yeh, and aggressive explosive half back who pushes forward hard and gives his Fwds a chance one out with quick delivery would be terrible for this club! That's not what melbourne is about! -
2014 Player Review - # 3 Christian Salem
tappysquads replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great user of the ball, very strong body in the contest, cool head under pressure, knows where the goals are. His highlight package from this year would be amazing. Low possession numbers is the least of our worries, he is a quality footballer and stats will increase with experience and improvement of the mfc. Will be a gun -
Players to target at the end of the year

Aaron Edwards? A specific medium leading forward. Has had some solid games this year. Delisted today -

Ok, here's a saying that not overrated. Cemented best 22 in a side that has made finals 8 years in a row. Little better than 98% of our list -

Yes for sure. In case you've forgotten, we currently have melbournes playing list. None can kick. Harry/heretiririw is an explosive line breaking premiership player who is not past his prime. A running half back, wow, can't have that at melbourne, wouldn't fit in with the rest of our list. The only problem I can see is that he might struggle to adjust to not playing on from marks, and chipping backwards to a turnover rather than breaking the lines forwards and giving our forwards a chance. -

Really? You dont think introducing an 18yr old undeveloped body to a professional gym routine couldn't gain results (5kg) over nearly 3 months? Good one -

Warm up drills: viney looks free, comfortable, and sharp Tappy doing rehab on his own The skills in some longer drills look very clean, not many kicks missing targets Dunne does a lot of talking, really leads the way in this Before the game they were doing the drill where players have to sprint all the way from fb just at the chance they might get a touch up the ground and it finishes with a goal and all 5 players pushing through ff. reinforcing a message before play I hope Kent is a great finisher on the run, would love to see him string some games together Grimey getting a fair bit of work on his lower back Viv has a huge frame and quality skills, A lot of the clearance drills end up with Vince having the final kick into fwd line No watts Jake spencers tap work has improved a lot, feeding the boys cleanly With jones and grimes on the same team, trenners addresses the other team pre game before leaving and not playing Dawes pulls out after drills Salems first kick hits Fitzy laces out, second kick hits toumpass out of the square laces out Boys clearly looking to go back and across out the other side every time they win the ball across half back Toump will be a high fwd when not on ball Viv looks super clean in congestion, very creative Very short out of back half, then long into the fifty Nicho 2 x turnovers kicking into fwd 50 Salems vision = wow Tom mc trying to run off pedo, pedo gets 2 inside 50 marks because tmac loses him in transition Toump 3 early goals in a row up fwd, dangerous Hogans work off the ball up fwd is massive, then misses easy set shot Heavy focus on working together and blocking while leading for kicks coming out of def 50 King beating jamar in taps multiple times, then outruns the lazy jamar into fwd 50 and goals Blease getting touches all over ground and good work rate JKH worked hard but could not find the ball, working to all the wrong places King great lead and mark at half fwd, then 50m pass hits jones Cross is brilliant, sometimes leads without calling to disguise it Vince getting a lot of it and creating every time Switch to Spencer at half back, takes his man on, has a bounce and hits Howe out of ff on the [censored] Nicho turnover switching across half back Nothing noticeable from Tyson other than a dropped sitter in def 50 Toump amazing kick in traffic opens up JKH running in and misses from 30m in front Ro bail very good, clean and creative in clearances Pedo has been good around half fwd, strong goal out of the ruck from a boundary throw Toump kicks his 4th while resting fwd from a lead mark Jetta hurt his shoulder, nicho did his ankle Finally, JKH gets it on fwd flank, steps in board around one and goals from 50, that's all i needed Bail lovely delivery to lead of Howe who marks and goals Tyson working into game, bout 8 touches in 5 min Spencer rag dolling king in taps but doing it well Impressive, Roos stops a centre bounce to educate blue team (spencer, michie, mckenzie, Salem) who then have a clean clearance as if the opposition werent there Ball has hardly gone up hogans end but when it has he's taken 3 marks in fifty, slotted one after the siren and got a big applause from the crowd here Impressive: king, spencer, bail, Vince, chip, toump, Salem Expected/hoped more: grimes, JKH, Went no good: nicho, Byrnes, -

Demons' Jack Watts ready to take on the elite
tappysquads replied to Romey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Playing mid, all he needs to do to be successful is hard straight lines at the ball when in congestion. He has everything else, the rest will take care of itself, should be simple to just play see ball get ball kind of footy. -

Interesting to hear jack viney talking to jimmy toumpass dad, he said he has an ongoing hip problem that is frustrating the **** out of him, and then toumpass old man was talking about how jimmy is enjoying it a lot more down here now, and had really struggled with the pressure he had put on himself last year. -
If it is a ruptured Achilles, it is a lot worse than a knee reco. Longer recovery and ongoing effects. Terrible news

It's not all horrible, there was 20 minutes against gws where we kicked 12 goals..... Actually, that's it. That's all I've seen that wasn't painful

Watts and JKH for top 5 smokeys -
I'm currently watching the season from start to finish, very tough watch, up to round 6 now. And just to clarify to those who hang onto that one duck of the head, pedo is not soft. If anything he is reckless. He regularly hurts opposition players by using his size to just crash through. The next 16 games might change my mind but I can see cam becoming a usual player for Melbourne.
