I still reckon he's overrated... Was abysmal in the GF a couple of years back. Had some mates for sure but he's the one that's supposed to lead from the front and he left it to a kid, Taranto to do all the work. Also spends a lot of time injured... Not worth the $'s

What they're saying in their Polo Shirts at 42 Bishopsgate Street.

If it wasn't for the lightning they were headed for a 50 point defeat at a minimum. NikNat was out on his feet, the rest of the team had given up. They were very, very lucky to get close... We really should have sealed it again early on resumption missing a couple of easy shots that would have deflated them again. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAKE BOWEY
rjay replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Got me 'Mach', it was in April though'...I think I posted recently that we should bring him in on the changes thread. Youthful enthusiasm, might blossom at the level and all that jazz. Now that he is in he's going to be hard to move out on his form in both games. It's funny looking over some old posts and cringing...I know when someone bumps a thread I hope I haven't said something dumb, shudder when I have, sigh of relief when I haven't. -
Hunt - Taylor calls Langdon ...and the camera is right on his face as he's getting his ankle checked by the physio on the boundary line. To be fair he couldn't see his number.

Jackson -The Rising Star...

Not 3 words, but Olivers ball handling in the wet was impeccable.

Yes, that's when an idiotic FD and coach thought Max was a forward and had Spencer ahead of him in the ruck at Casey and whenever he played a senior game either Jamar or Spencer were the go to's with Max doing a bit of relief. This is where averages are a furphy.

There have been huge changes 'faulty'...but you have to wonder how many of these are really just on the surface. We've shut down a lot of what people say on and off the field but that doesn't stop what are really thinking. Sometimes by shutting down the voice, which is ugly and needs to be, we are hiding the real thoughts of many people. We might be kidding ourselves that we have made real advances, I hope not... Betts thinks things are getting worse. We have a long, long way to go...

'Durrie', if only it was a case of 'Boomers', then when we die out it there would be no more racism and the world would be a better place. I know people of all generational segments with less than optimal views on race... Unfortunately as Tex just proved, it's not only the problem of one generation. The bigger problem is the attitudes passed down through generations, from family to family...this cycle is very hard to break. Anyway, as you say...enough of Tex and onward to Monday night and beyond.
-
Unfortunately I suspect the small, vocal minority might be a bit larger than we think. Many might not speak out but it's the underlying thoughts that bother me, Tex just spoke to probably what was always on his mind.
-
Don't take this the wrong way...we can work to eradicate the words but what troubles me is the thinking behind the words. For all the enquiries and work on racist issues in the AFL It's obviously still there and at club level, not just the odd bogan in the crowd. The words are hurtful but why do AFL players in particular still have this racist thinking? I'm guessing Tex is not the only one by the way, that would be impossible to believe. So whilst he's been caught out voicing his thoughts others will be harbouring the same thinking.

Trouble is he's playing sore so wouldn't be the best time to try this...
-
He's not a natural footballer let alone a natural forward.

I think it's now official...

I'm totally with you on this 'mono'...why would we spend money on what is essentially a sub standard oval. Not the way to start a state of the art facility...we are so far behind it's just not funny. Step one of the plan needs to be an MCG size oval (not a kinda MCG hybrid) then we work out from there. If we can't get it at Goschs then forget it. edit: everyone is so wanting a base that they're willing to accept 2nd best and think it's the greatest thing since...

...but was the video conclusive. I hope they got a better video than the one doing the rounds on the footy shows last night. You couldn't make a decision based on that surely? No evidence from Collins, no evidence from an umpire? I would have given him a week for being a DH but not sure about the charge of contact with the neck.
-
Yep, the video angle wasn't conclusive. I wasn't sure whether contact was to his neck or jaw from the angle everyone was judging on last night. First look seemed the jaw/side of head but as I say...inconclusive. Unless there is better video then Collins is the man to clarify.

Who Will We Dislodge from the 2020 Final Eight?
rjay replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Can you PM Thursdays Powerball numbers 'P-man', I'm sure you've already had your share... -
Viney - Thinks he's Judd Harmes - Thinks he's Dusty ...bit harsh as they had their positives but this is what I was thinking when watching them overdo it. An otherwise pleasurable game to watch apart from these brain fades and a period I think at the end of the 2nd (maybe 3rd) where we went into luxury (s...a...) mode.
-
Nah...look at my post last week and you will see why we needed to keep him in.
-
A lot of people here look pretty silly again this week. The calls for Jackson to be dropped/rested were just a little premature. Apart from his 4 goals it appears the idea coming up to finals is not to run Max into the ground. Jackson took a bit more ruck time today and you can't lay that off to a bit time ruck like Weed or Tommy Mac as some suggested. Win - Goody and selection, loss - Demonland experts... ...by the way can Goody coach this week?
-
Agree, and will be a required player come finals...
-
Looks like the game will be in Melbourne now...we're being sent back. It will be tomorrow or even Monday.
-
Probably GC, looks like they are trying to get all clubs out of Qld...but I'm not sure the WA Premier will go along with it.
-
Looks like we might yet be playing the game tomorrow....
