  1. "Knuckles" is also called "Silk"...
  2. He may end up as a mid, it's where he played a lot of junior football I believe. ...but then again all these kids were stars as juniors so they all played mid. Could be a bit like Ed Richards who has developed his craft in defence and has now moved into the midfield. Give him time. Remember one of the greats that he shares a nick name with played a lot of his footy off half back and went into the midfield when the Hawks needed a lift. I would like to see him getting a bit more ball out of defence.
  3. ...and where did we finish on the ladder in those years?
  4. Enjoy 'kev', I hope you have a great time. ...and thanks for your reports, very much appreciated.
  5. No coincidence...EFC have a huge supporter base & they're winning. They have a poor percentage (bottom 6) so can't be their attractive free flowing footy.
  6. I think that's spot on 'Biff'...
  7. It's a little like what KB used to say about tackling...no point if you've got the ball. I think you are right in that it is an instruction. They brought the ball down and into play a few times yesterday. If they had of stayed on the ground it would have been an easy intercept.
  8. I get your point but in this case the VFL tribunal is not made up of the same people as the AFL version. It's a seperate organisation. So consistency needs to be measured on their past actions.
  9. I suspected before, but now I'm sure you are taking the p... Enjoy!
  10. So one player needs to show awareness but the other not???
  11. It may or may not be but that's the way it's adjudicated. In this particular case where was the shepherd??? Smith's teammate had possession of the ball, not Parker's, there was no shepherd.
  12. In the good old days that would be true 'Dee'', but now if you choose to bump and cause damage you're done. ...by the way, not sure if you are being serious or taking the ....
  13. Would be a handy replacement for Brayshaw...can play mid, forward and back... ...but maybe this is for another thread.
  14. Yes, they do have a tribunal...I would think he will have to front it.
  15. Looked like a legit shepherd gone wrong except that none of his teammates had the footy. So not sure what he was attempting to do.
  16. Sestan with 4 is a good return...
  17. An extraordinary take on this great piece of music...
  18. You're probably right...but I haven't been overly impressed with Fullarton forward or in the ruck. As it stands he (Fullarton) may be injured anyway.
  19. He (Tommo) did play some time in the ruck at GWS...so maybe he is the better choice.
  20. Missed the last 2 with injury, so probably doubtful.
  21. Doubt it...from what I've seen he struggles in the ruck.
  22. I'm with you on the full time professional umpire call, not sure it would make a lot of difference. They should however have a full time professional training base & administration facility that would be HQ for the entire umpiring fraternity. The umpiring biz seems like old school clubland and could be brought into current times. ...and work does need to be done on congestion. The coaches should have little to no say in rules & interpretations because as we all know...there is no interest like self interest. Cutting interchange has been a no brainer for a while now. Cutting the time to dispose of the ball to pay a free kick or ball up. The epidemic of incorrect disposal could also be tightened up. Just a few things... Left of field & not so popular, bounce the ball rather than throw it up. The unpredictability always made it harder to set up around a ball up & meant the ball moved out of the area quicker. Not married to that one but worth thinking about...we play with an oval ball & it's unpredictability makes the game more interesting. If we want more certainty then using a round ball is the go.
  23. I'm convinced he's not a ruckman...
  24. ...and he had every right to be. A decision made with poor guesswork. An absolute howler.
