  1. As we're waiting for scores, anyone wanna discuss the earthquake? I'm in Fitzroy and it was pretty strong.
  2. Great. I'll go into the Melbourne Central store next Wednesday and buy up big.
  3. Sydney by 8 points, but you can check the game thread for further analysis.
  4. Hi fellow Demonlanders. If anyone's looking for a geat place to come down and watch the game today, a few of us regularly go to the St. Kilda Bowls Club. Great friendly venue, awesome beer prices and the Demons on the big screen. All welcome! http://home.vicnet.net.au/~sksc/
  5. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...3-19742,00.html Well done North!
  6. We'll win by three goals.
  7. Just a few questions. :How was our skills, our ball-handling. : Was there any noticeable difference between last years game plan and perhaps this years? : How were we moving the ball out of the backline? thanks!
  8. I think he means the belting later in the year on a Friday night.
  9. Also the Demon Heartland, if you were going to do it, even more incentive as it has a Demon Direct payment plan. $14.13 per month gets 30 children into the Heartland. 30 CHILDREN!
  10. I to got a text message before the draft, two minutes before it started to be exact saying Melbourne had just picked Watts as # 1. Which was kinda odd.
  11. Not to mention the weasel that is Ricky Nixon!
  12. I thought it was a great read, especially Schwab's article. Made me want to strap on some boots and run through walls. Very passionate stuff.
  13. Love it. Would buy one for sure and I've never bought a clash guernsey before. I wanted to MFC logo so this is just what I wanted, no white.
  14. As a West Australian living in Victoria who grew up following Melbourne and Swan Districts I'm just rapt that the Black Ducks are into teir first GF in ten years and after coming from behind at half time. But I think we should go for Watts.
  15. This is such a great idea. A) It'd be Sold Out. B) As it's ANZAC Day the Canberra press would be all over it, pushing the club in a solid way into a new market. C) We'd make money on the game given it's in Canberra and it would be an honour to play this game in the Nation's capital on such a auspice day. D) It has the roots and foundation to make it a real blokbuster, as oppossed to the past ANZAC Day games a the SCG which just seem to have felt like a normal Home & Away fixture. Will be great if we play it on the actual day like is being suggested.
  16. Sorry, what was I thinking, day starts at 4...
  17. Hey following on from the birthday celebrations, why don't you come down to the St. KIlda Bowls Club this Sunday to see us take on the Fremantle Snipers. It'll just be on the TV with a few Demons and cheap beer... 2pm start. * This isn't a fudraiser or anything like that, just fellow supporters watching the game and making some noise. BE THERE!
  18. I just spent 20 minutes trying to find this thread and now find it's been pinned. BTW very strong possibility of a band playing on the night, a rockabilly band who have been giving "It's A Granf Old Band".
  19. 45 hotgod, I'm there, in fact I can't wait. I'll bring the audio of the 1964 premiership to warm us in in the early stages.
  20. Good news ! _______________________________ Jim Stynes brings record Melbourne membership Rebecca Williams | June 20, 2008 12:00am Have your say!Add your comments or read what others are sayingEmail article Share Add to Digg Add to del.icio.us Post to NewsVine Post to Facebook What are these? Printer friendly Text size+- MELBOURNE supporters have answered president Jim Stynes' call to arms, with the Demons surging to a record membership. More than 1000 members have joined the club since Stynes became president last Thursday, yesterday taking the club past last year's membership record of 28,077. The membership boost has given the cash-strapped Demons a much-needed financial injection of about $100,000. But Stynes warned the membership figure was still not high enough. He said the club needed to aim for 35,000 members in the next three years to ensure its long-term future and financial viability. "This is fantastic news," Stynes said last night of the record membership. "To get all these people back on board and people who want to help us out and support us, it's terrific. "But we need to be aiming for the 35,000 mark. "I understand that is not going to happen overnight, but I would hope over the next three years we should be able to get up there. "We've had our 150 year celebration and we need to make sure that we're around for another 150 years." Facing a $4.5 million debt, Stynes said any extra revenue the club could get was crucial. "Every little bit helps," he said. "We are staring down a very big debt and unless we get members turning up to games, our corporate sponsors hoping on board, and everyone really getting on, the debt is going to be frightening. "We've got to try and reduce that debt down as quick as possible and we've got to do it this season, not next year." Such has been the response from Demons' supporters, some have even contacted the club to sign up unborn babies. He urged any un-signed supporters to get on board before the membership cut-off date at the end of the month. "We want to keep encouraging people to take out memberships right up until the 30th of June," he said. "Right now we are heading into new territory, we have just broken a record, but it would be great to keep pushing it up towards 29,000, which would give us a tremendous base for next year." Stynes hoped MCC members who are not signed-up Demons would also play a greater role in helping secure the club's future. "Obviously the MCC members are a very big part of our supporter base," he said. "We're very lucky that we have so many people that are MCC members who are Melbourne supporters. "We will be looking to enrol more of them so that they feel proud enough to not just barrack for us, but be a financial supporter of us. "So they will continue to see us play at the MCG well into the future."
  21. It's a tough one for players, because Bails is big on tackling hard, which we finally do and don't get the rewards. But looks like Bails is going to ask for a 'please explain' from the Giesh. Which probably won't amount to much.
  22. He was definitely in the Melbourne Members Reserve, which is next to the AFL enclosure in the Southern Stand. Saw him trying to get in, but the steward didn't know who he was, or there was some hassle with his tickets. He should've just pointed out that there's the 'Jim Stynes Room' across the ground. But also saw him at half time & on the ground afterwards at the Freo game.
