Don't mind Dean. In a team that was habitually flogged I thought he generally held his own. If truth be known, Bruce Doull would have been found wanting such was the speed the ball entered our back half at times.

Very true. Just read an old article that mentioned both Carroll boys Grandfather was a fighter in Jimmy Sharman's Travelling troupe. By all accounts his has been an unorthodox and tough upbringing. Early days but it reads like a country lad struggling with city life as much as anything.

The one thing that has come out of all of this is that Essendon, for all the bluster of the AFL, has received one of the softest penalties for a widespread doping infraction, in the history of sport. The punishment has certainly not fit the crime and as for WADA coming in over the top; well it's been over 12 months now. Time enough I would have thought for some type of stance. My gut feel is that it's just not going to happen.
