Richmond's Dan Connors and Dustin Martin in trouble
Jesse Christ replied to GawnWithTheWind's topic in Melbourne Demons
Looks like Melbourne supporters aren't the only people going to the snow mid July.. What a joke. "Yeah officer" the guy with the tatto on his neck proclaimed- "I only had 1 beer and couldn't get to beddy-byes so I had to take one of my friends sleeping tablets" hahaha good one. -
I'm petitioning for away teams to be "skins," that'll sort out this colour debate once and for all. But seriously, who gives a shite.
-
This is just getting ridiculous now..
-
Wow, from the thread title I thought he wrote off another car.. Ridiculous thread. Honestly think we have bigger fish to fry than somebody's jovial disposition.
-
Sigh.. It doesn't matter the circumstances behind Clark leaving Brisbane- the fact is we got him for 12. Player and 12 for a ruckman is not the same value as 12 for Clark. Period. Tell me the last time a ruckman was "turned into a forward" successfully. What's that? Crickets.... thought so. Ruckmans are ruckmans. if you could turn them into forwards why wouldn't we try that with the man we just signed for 3 years- that's Jamar, incase you're wondering. I didn't bother answering you because you obviously lack the mental capacity to recognize for yourself that we don't need another ruckman- the midfield is our major concern. What a waste of a pick that would be. I'd rather throw pick 12 away for a small forward. We have Martin who can ruck, Gawn who we're developing and will take a while and we have Jamar for another 3. Plus you can always take a ruck that isn't getting game time relatively cheaply at trade time. Think about what we actually need before throwing up ludicrous trade scenarios!
-
If you can't see how giving up a player and pick 12 for West is much different than a straight swap of 12 for Clark then I'm not even going to bother trying to explain it.
-
Your trade scenarios suck. Seriously pick 12 and a player for West? Think about things!
-
No- I am one of the advocates of taking Viney at whatever pick need be- I don't so much care what "value" we get with the Viney pick- I worry about the player we may miss out on because we had to take Viney with a high pick- not picking Viney himself. I think you missed the point.
-
I've been thinking about the Viney situation a little since the Brisbane game- Now let me preface this by saying that I would love to see Viney running around in the red and blue round 1 next year, but- this draft is seen to be a "super draft" (whatever that means) and if so- would we be better telling Viney to sit out this one- allowing us to fill up on players that we desperately need (I know we desperately need Viney but he is a lock), and then next year- not being a super draft- we are still guaranteed Viney with the father son pick which may be lower than pick 3 (which is inconsequential but a nice bonus) This will net us Stringer & Toumpas/Wines/ Grundy and our second round pick (Garlett?) and we still get Viney although a year later- he can still develop with us and we get to utilize all picks in this super draft & still get Viney in what may be a weaker draft- hence we draft great 2 consecutive years! We need so much, and if a 'getlemens agreement" can't be reached, we still get all we need. And lets face it- it's a lot.

Why do these words keep ringing in my ears
Jesse Christ replied to skills32's topic in Melbourne Demons
Which is why I'm so worried we have a stop-gap calling the shots. I respect the hell out of Viney- but he is still a stop-gap. -
That's what he does now- pointing and yelling is the new first second and third efforts. Thing is (and this is just me speculating) Moloney will feel slighted by being sent back to Casey, and come back with an even bigger chip on his shoulder (again- me speculating) I think he's done. An analogue player in a digital world.

I would rather Miller back. At least he is still stinking it up in the relevant competition. You nutcase!
-
I thought this was a joke thread, but alas it wasn't. I'm concerned for your mental health buddy.

When Clark returns to the ruck...
-
Then we'd be faced with the same problem next year I would have thought. Although we can use our pick 3 for a player which isn't Viney- and next year if we climb higher than 17th, we will get better value with the Viney pick. But people will still complain we had to use a low pick on a player we could have gotten second round while X was available.. I want JV in the midfield 2013 round 1. If it's pick 3 then it's pick 3. Imagine our midfield now with a young "angry Mitchell" in it. Stuff the games, when it comes to the crunch we bite the bullet.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Jesse Christ replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would see through that. Surely they would too? Would be better to go either the strong bluff, or just sweetner deal. No doubt they would have a little chuckle at us. Whatever gets it done in the end I suppose. -

Jesse Christ replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
How can we simultaneously make "sweetheart" deals and have our bluff be taken seriously? On one hand we're saying "if you nominate him, we will pass- and on the other you're saying "please don't nominate him- look at these lovely gifts..." I am interested in this level of devious you are tlaking about. explain.. -

So we must be going the "nominate at your own peril- we ain't doing any sweetner deals with you scum" route- ruthless and I like it! -

Surely we could only try to bluff them, or stike a deal- It would be hard to convince them we were likely to pass with pick 3, and at the same time try to bribe them to not nominate so we don't have to use pick 3? -

Do whatever it takes, or don't work in partnership with 2 new teams... Swallow thou pride. One wants to have his cake and eat it too... I will do anything for love (flag), but I won't do that (yes I will) -

Well someone said we could get him back after 2 years. I didn't read all of your post, but my point still stands. one million things wont happen, one thing will- Viney will be wearing red and blue next year, at what number we take him with is what's in debate.
