Lol, so much bad stuff has happened lately it is not a syndrome anymore. Plus it's been replaced with the new "in" terms- "wrist slashing" and "hand wringing" argh!
-
Like the romantisism (is that a word) of the notion but is just too slow. We need outsiders with pace pace pace!

Picks: 2,3, 9, plus two picks in the mid 20s

I would like to know it too. I say we envoke the "Darling act" -

Jesse Christ replied to Grand New Flag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Could you imagine the [censored]-storm if we didn't pick him though? He probably wouldn't want to play for us ever. His old man might leave too. I would be interested in finding out the terms of that contract with Viney. I am very sure whoever finishes below us will bid on him to screw us. It would be so nice to have pick 2&3 or 3&4 AND Viney instead of just 3/4 and Viney. We really need it! -

You don't get it Billy- We are obligated to take him as he already has a 5 year deal with us. Them declaring their interest and chosing him as their first pick is of no consequence to them because they know that we are WILL be taking him. So at no risk to them, they get the opportunity to "screw" another club out of a scenario where they can pick a player touted as a top 5 pick, with their second round pick. It would be silly of them not to do this. I'm just wondering what happens if they nominate for Viney what that actually means. How can they nominate for someone who is contracted to another club. And if they nominate him and we chose someone else, are there any ramifications for that. -
We made a statement alright!

I don't think it matters where we finish, unless it's last we will have to use our first pick on Viney, due to being obligated to take him and other clubs knowing this. Great move! -
The shoe is never on the other foot billy! I believe there was no ill intent from Grimes, he's not the sort of guy. Plus I don't think he knew he was in trouble after the incident due to mild concussion

Cheers, keep us updated

[censored]! He misses Jimmy's testimonial match because of that? What about the artificial turf, surely that must come into consideration? He gets the same as Lake for a tackle? Lake blatently hooked someone in the face. And Maric gets off scott free when the impact of his hit was about the same as Lake's? This game is leaving a sour taste in my mouth!

I found a substitute for Bex, it's called ice cream with hot fudge and lots of cream, chased down with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a lie down

It's a little funny. I hope we have not lost the ability to have a bit of a chuckle..

I was just having a laugh Old dee, I am equally as pessimistic as yourself. You know what they say, misery loves company.

Relax, we've got this

The next generation of younger Dees supporters
Jesse Christ replied to Maldonboy38's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am looking at young kids now and thinking "get out now, while you can- give yourself a shot at enjoying footy..." and it terrifies me, because I would probably give that advice to my kids if I had any. We are in danger of losing a whole generation of supporters. Yeah, it scares the shi! out of me. Right now, Howe is the only X-factor we have. Jurrah being injured and speculation on his future hurts our appeal. Davey being finished- no small zipy forward ala betts, no excitement, no flair, no pace. We are bland and drab. And we lose, all the time. Who would want to follow us? We've been doing it all our lives and are duty bound too. It's wearing thin for us FFS! -
DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 3
Jesse Christ replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Lol, player of the year. Whatever, I'll give the points to Howe for exciting me with some of his grabs. Give some to Clark and Watts too. Don't care how much you give to each. Surprise me. -
Such a shame when we are desperate for a small forward. Doesn't have the pace anymore, can't stick a tackle, can't get own ball, can't harrass. The game has past him by and there his bag of tricks are depleted. Is not AFL standard anymore and that's all it boils down to. Is a passanger now and we definitely can't afford another one of them. Last year in the big league. Thanks for the service. Need to look in the draft for a quality small forward.

We're not playing that badly - hear me out
Jesse Christ replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
We're not playing that badly? Lol no chance of hearing you out, you're mental! -
I wish we were tanking, it would provide a reason as to why we are so [censored]. GC are playing better than us FFS! A second year team and they have their [censored] together more than we do. If we are tanking (which I don't think we are) we are an absolute disgrace and we will never actually learn how to win. It's not as easy as flicking a metaphorical switch and just going well it's time to win now.. Many delists at the end of the year and they are quite easy to figure out. Smart drafting and stick the tank where the sun don't shine!!!

I was at the game today, it is painfully obvious that we lack: Pace Awareness Intensity Football smarts Fluidity Fitness Fight And most importantly- Heart! I've gone past being angry. I am upset and quite depressed. How have we gone so far backwards? Fair dinkum have Gold Coast passed us? Seriously? A team in their second year is playing as a more cohesive unit then we are? This is a disgrace. Our lack of pace is damning and quite evident. We always pass to a player who has an opponent on his tail- hospital handpasses if you will. We are looking for whoever is down the line on the boundry no matter how many opponents he may have to beat instead of lookig in-board (I remember Watts being almost dumbfounded at being over looked in a scenario that saw him being over looked for an option that was tagged boundry side) We have no intensity, no one looks as if they are trying and willing to bust their guts. We drop our heads, we don't man up- and by that I mean we let players gather easy possessions (how many times I saw Nahas collect an easy get on the corner of the 50 metre arc dumbfounded me)- we aren't defensive side of ANYONE and once they get away our plodders get burnt! I'm sick of these losers mascreading as AFL footballers: Morton, Davey, Batram, Rivers, McDonald- thanks for the efforts, you've had enough time to prove that you aren't up to it, now please find a future else where. I am ebarrassed to wear my team's jumper! Ineed a change in the way this team goes about things because these efforts are ruining my weekends!

Why did we do that? We basically just told everyone who finishes below us that we are obliged to pick him, so you guys might as well force us to use our first pick, as you will be guaranteed it wont backfire on you. Is there a loophole in this agreement? Does the agreement state that we have to pick him up in the 2012 draft? As daft as that sounds..
-
Lol, if we finish top.
-
No, you're right, but my point is that unless finishing last, a team will always have to use their first pick on their father son which makes the whole advantage of having one kind of redundant.
-
This whole father son thing can be a bit of a disadvantage now. Viney looks the goods, but lets just say he was only rated a top 15 pick- and we had pick 3. We would be forced to use pick 3 on him because other clubs would know our intentions on drafting him and force our hand. As it is we will have to use our first rounder on him- which will probably be pick 2 or 3 at this stage, and that is probably where he would have gone anyway. So where is the advantage of this father/son rule? Apart from being guaranteed a particular player?
