  1. Maybe they're taking him as steak knives in the player and picks bit...
  2. The poos and wees suits him, he is a [censored] after all.
  3. Who apart from him has kicked 5 goals in a game for us since probably David Neitz?
  4. Not true. He's admitted that he doesn't fit into a style of play where everybody stands around like witches hats kicking it to the other team.
  5. Not at all. Trading down from pick 2 and potentially losing a Brayshaw type isn't worth a player who will only be here a couple of years.
  6. Welcome!! I think at some point we gave up and told him to get lost, but I bet it was quite recent. I'd be amazed if they lowballed him, eg, at the start of this year. He's had plenty of opportunity to sign up if he wanted to.
  7. No way. Only a year or two more at most in him. Would be a waste of a high pick.
  8. Of course they have a choice. I can't recall a trade ever being done without the player's consent.
  9. I just don't think they should have a choice. That's what free agency is for.
  10. That's actually the best analogy I've heard on this subject so far.
  11. Too young to really appreciate what he meant, but watching those videos, wow. What a genius.
  12. Spot on - I've never understood the watering down concept. Not only do we not have the incentive to go after any free agents of our own, we are actually screwed if we do. It is just a hopeless system. They're far better off just making it open season. I know that is likely to end up in a situation like the NBA, where eg Cleveland had literally one or two players contracted for the coming season, but at least everybody is competing fairly for talent. We are trying to improve with both hands tied behind our backs.
  13. I did notice that, but also that he was mentioned last and almost as an afterthought after guys like JKH, who are obviously ahead of him in Roos's mind.
  14. I think the way Roos talked in his presser about pick 3, there's no way we are not getting it. If we didn't, I think he and PJ would have an absolute fit. He talked about it like it was a done deal, and he is too polished a media performer to put himself in the gun like that unless he knows.
  15. He really owns these types of pressers. Made very sensible comments on Clark and pumped up his value. Was blunt about the problems in free agency - about as blunt as he could possibly be. Was clear about wanting people who want to commit to the club and be part of what he wants to do and essentially couldn't care less about Chip. Really, really good presser.
  16. I'm 31 and don't mind whipping out the 'you're a ball sack' line. Live a little, Machsy!
  17. Maybe it is so cab drivers know who he is and where to take him home. His address is probably tattooed on his front.
  18. This pic was in the Age just now - anybody else think Mitch's tattoo looks like it spells 'liar'? Edit: Including link and deleted picture - http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/melbourne-and-geelong-close-to-deal-on-mitch-clark-20141001-10ohan.html
  19. The pick that reflected his age and mediocre new contract.
  20. Ironic that this is in a thread about not understanding compensation. It wouldn't matter if he was a complete dud - if he fit the formula, we would get the same pick.
  21. Completely understand and fair enough. I just think that is asking too much!
